i have an alpine cda 117 if i were to jail break the ipad like you did would it still work because im having the same problem with the black screen (accessory connected) when using the usb.

Greenpois0n is the software used to jail break. Do a search on-line, download, and follow the instructions. Backup you IPAD before you begin. Then, you can download Cydia whick allows for 3rd party apps. Good Luck, thanks for viewing.
does it charge while its hooked up or do you have to take it out every night. and does it matter if its the first gen or the 2nd gen of the ipad. thanks

@seabasscn USB is better to use than a AUX because the signal is more direct... Basically, more direct signal = Less distortion. :)

Yes, it trickle charges. Not sure on gen. I am running version 4.2.1. I am not upgrading due to the jailbreak.

I wonder why it won't work with the alpine 105. I jailbreak and installed the app. The head unit won't even recognize the iPad. I'll try with a iPod.
