  • reaction time was super slow.. and if you try stepping that far out at the blocks..you will get burned everytime.

  • My drive 10 meters is a fraction of a second. Ur start is not bad

  • good start, but keep your arms at a right angle, never straighten your arm behind you

  • He's not low enough and he doesn't have enough power

my drive phase (10 meters) is 1.6 seconds swag

  • He needs more power his technique is down but his stride length is short he should be getting to that first 10 meters in 4.5-5 steps he gets to almost 7 thats not gonna get a strong time. One word will fix that..... Plyometrics.

  • bro, ave u got a quicker version of this video?, i'm analysing it for my uni assignment, cheers

  • dude, in the " sets" u got to lean a bit forward, with this you will be able to start lower ;)

  • lower! lower!

  • Damn, that's a pretty good start.

  • is your heel low to the ground or high off of it?

  • can someone explain heel recovery to me please?

  • so you dont think that usaine bolt and tyson gay are comfortable in the blocks?

  • his first step was too short and he didn't stay down long enough.... if he gets that hes got a nasty start =)

  • 21 people couldnt beat him in a race

  • corre de puntitas q tramposo!

  • When it speeds up..... is that actual speed at the end? If so, I could beat the guy by probs 20-30 metres.

  • @runicrules hahhahaha

  • Knees too far outward on drive phase.

  • off the blocks good, but everything else sucked after that.

  • back leg needs to be further back in the blocks. the front leg should be about 2 inches closer to the line. the front block should not be at such a high angle, and the front toe should be on the ground. don't lean over the line. good first step. however, too much back-kick.

  • @roxtar55 no...you do whats comfortable....plain and simple

  • @MrDeltaMaster Not really. If you're too comfortable, you won't be able to burst out. For example, you should be like a coiled spring. When a spring is tightly coiled, is it comfortable? No; however it is poised and prepared to fire out. Likewise should a sprinter be when in the blocks. Just look up Tom Tellez buddy, it's all about precise biomechanics. There is not "plain and simple" in sprinting - it is the execution of precise technical aspects.

  • first step is to short

    see david siljan block start

  • i think you side step a bit too much, stay in a completely straight line and you have the perfect start :)

  • Great form what time are you getting?

-legs could be a little bit closer to ground (elite sprinters actually hit their back foot's toe on the ground

-because of this, your standing up far too soon

  • okay thats is very good but try leaning longer and steeper my time i am 12 my 100m time is 11.92 i wanna be fastest when i grow up i have been doing this since i wan 10

  • @osemudiame123 thats a great time for a 12 year old damn!

  • I absolutly love the outfit, same as me!! except i have something a yellow wearing to the wrists!

  • Do work son!

  • Everyone in Youtube are first class athletes and trainers. Oh and i forgot; i can run the 100 m in 8 sec i can C&J 4-times my bodyweight which is 100 kg lean muscle and i can curve a ball twice as much as Roberto Carlos.

  • Im 18 and i play football or ''soccer'' i run the 100m in 10.56 seconds :D

  • yah man you're on your toes not the balls of your feet. Its killing your forward motion. Try to stay on the balls of your feet. To find this sit you foot flat then pull your toes up and there ya go those are the balls of your feet.

  • you've got balls, but u need to remain on the balls of ur feet =)

  • Its funny how most of you didnt see the incorrect blocks position! The back foot needs to go back a few centimetres. He was probably coming up too fast because the upthrust from his back leg was immediate and not gradual. Make the correction in the blocks and the trajectory of your back thigh will be more horizontal enabling you to stay low and accelerate with better PLANTAR flexion.

  • u kinda stood up a little too fast

  • WOW me and this guy got the same start!

  • how fast is the video guy over 10m

  • n00b

  • too high, try and get lower. also, keep that back arm around 90 degrees like the front arm, otherwise its just resisting you from going forward. its pulling you back, whereas you want to push forward. but nice job on getting that right front leg perfectly straight, that takes a lot of work nice

  • im 17 soon 18 n run 100m=10.90s...still very slow..:(

  • @masterhouuse

i know a sophmore that can do that but thats still really good...

  • If he is running a 400m the start is ok. But for a 100m or 200m, he won't have much of a drive phase because he doesn't stay low long enough. This is a problem that crops up for Allison Felix. She has so much strength, speed , and endurance that she is able to compensate for he poor starts in the 200m. However, in the 100m she can't recover quickly enough and gets beat.

  • I respect fast white guys..haha

  • i'm sixteen now running an 11.02

when i was fourteen my best was an 11.31 and i'm white :D

  • good job. i aplaud you fast white dudes

  • lol.. why do people need to state that they're white?

  • @turnbacktime Lol exactly what i was thinking.

  • @stakz0nDeck14 who fuckin cares mannn when your runnin as fast as me theny ou can talk

  • ya nuh haffi worry bout what dem haters speakin man. me tell ya sey yo ya training looks good man, real good. keep up di hard work. ya start is lookin pretty good. great arm swing. di only ting me see dat ya haffi work on is ya knees. ya haffi bring ya knees up higher out of di blocks. ya be aright man.

  • good start, maybe get a little lower to the ground

  • lol....look at all the experts below me....some folk just know it all.

  • yea the take off sucked cuz u didnt shoot out low

  • Go lower some not as if you're falling but ya....

  • man the form is crazy

  • Hahaha! That was ridiculous!

  • bro keep at it you will get it not everyone knows how to do good arms like that now you need to stay just a bit lower and you got it down keep at it

  • ur driving to high, wasting time in the air and waiting for ur body to come down before u can push again.

  • Slow reaction regardless of the slo-mo !

  • the arm was good, but u have to stay lower for longer. i am upright just after the 30m mark, im 6 foot 6 by the way, so it takes me longer. so your drive phase should be 15-25m.

  • 腕ふりがよくない。

    脇空いてる。

  • running high isnt good for 100 or 200, but a longer race like the 400 doesent matter like michal jhonson does

  • Great coming out of the blocks, but he seems to have the same problem I did. To much on his toes and not really pushing you can tell just by look at the contact he's not putting very much force into the ground because hes not bringing his knee through and remaining dorsal flexed which makes driving difficult

  • that's also my problem...so sad that i cant do it beta soon

  • good start but i would say lean forward more in the blocks & stay lower for longer;

  • @KtMcCreesh I agree with this completely. The first thing I thought is that it looks like he popped up a little too quickly. But, pretty good looking form.

  • Not a very good start. The left leg has to be higher in order for a good contact with the ground so that the stride will be bigger.

  • too high and you'll end up catching yourself, rendering the good start useless

  • pop up is bad win u come out stay low for the first couple strides

  • lol i think that was a good start. why are so many people complaining about your start?

  • his head poped up to early thus making his speed slower

  • not really... his neck didnt break. he kept his head facing the track.

  • you have to many steps in the first 10 I counted 8 the average pro athlete can cover the first 10 in about 4-5 strides no more than 6. you have great form coming out of the blocks.

  • Don't listen to this "overstriding" because you came out perfect. You're supposed to explode out which is exactly what you did. A lot of people come out and they try to get their feet on the ground asap (which essentially is what you want also), but if you take a bunch of little steps as opposed to powerful fast steps you're not going to get as fast. I actually have a video of a race proving this if anyone wants to see.

    remember; Speed = Distance/time

Increase distance = increase in speed

  • Forgot to mention the only thing (people mentioned) you going side to side in your lane.

This kills your time b/c you're expending energy at an angle as opposed to running linearly.

Try practicing with your feet facing inwards (it'll feel funny), but overexaggerating should help bring your feet straighter. You want to make sure all that force is directed in a straight line to maximize your speed

I know from experience. I'm a sprinter as well 60m - 400m. Made it to national competitions before

  • Geez so many people trying to act all fancy by correcting him. If I could start that fast I'd be quite happy. Nice work, looks awesome

  • Good form, but I have two suggestions,

Your first stride was a bit of an overstride... when coming out of the blocks you want to be explosive, but not to the point where you're slowing down your stride frequency. Also, you're zig zagging a little bit, which makes it harder to use your weight and leverage positively. Try to center yourself so that at the end of your stride, your foot touches (roughly) the middle of the lane.

Otherwise, you have very strong explosive muscles from what I can see.

  • 11.19 is pretty good, In your first steps try to open up more but not to a point where you over stride.

  • pffff...you Guys suck... this is a goos statr, the only thing is that you are zig-zaging, you arent rrent r straight in youre first steps; bunt after its ok ;)

  • stay lower. you come up too fast

  • Pop up Start..

  • 11.19s is still slow :/

  • I don't agree, for a 18 year old that has only been sprinting for five moths 11.19 is not that bad.

  • i do a 12.8 average PB - 12.6 8th grade, any tips, im 5 foot 9 10 with shoes i want to work on my start any tips

  • run some hills or a mile or two a day lift some leg weights and work on your forum it works.......

  • in fact it's not bad if you really practise track and field for only five months....

you have a good start especially the first jump but during the first 5/6 leaps you must be low!!!

  • @olitomas not when the California State Meet Girls 100 winner is running 11.17 Im sorry but you should not be running girls times. That is very slow for a boy. I have 8th graders running 10.8..

  • @olitomas 11.19 is definitely good for an 18 year old. It will get one into the top bracket, and probably win most of the local meets, but, not the big meets. Just think, most of the female olympians are running 11.1's and even slower.

  • @olitomas

It's not bad. But it's still slow.

There are so many athletes who run under 11 in high school

  • @olitomas lol im 16 i run 10.95 im have no athletics club but i found out that its not bad and i only trained a little bit for fun like 7 months.its funny the second fastest of my schoolclass thought he is fast and i bet him 1.5 secs

  • @fightjunge24 would low 11's be a good time for a 16 year old? please dont be an asshole about it if it isnt fast to you, im just wondering cuz in xc we do 100m build ups on the track after 4 mile road runs and i run in the 12's very easily so with blocks and spikes and not running 4 miles before :) i know i could run low 11's im just wondering how good it would be?

  • @MrMaximilianWilhelm Low 11 is good for a 16 year old in my opinion. Keep at it !

  • @Balzzar 11.19s is a great time dude not alot of poeple can go under 11 seconds much less high schoolers that can go under 11, there are colleges that would love to pick up guys who run low 11s in a 100 because they can train them to go under 11

  • @MrMaximilianWilhelm

    Now it is 10,68s

  • That start was amaizing! Damn I love sprintin, I started doing sprint 5 months ago, I am 18 and 100m PB is 11.19s :( i dont have any coach, so I dont know how sprinters practice/train.. If you dont mind, could you help me a little bit?

    Thank you!

  • how did you time yourself?

  • I competed on Estonian national 100m Junior class competition, and I got 4rd place.

  • how fast was your 100m before you started training?

  • around 12.4-12.6 sec

  • o wow u must train hard then i guess

  • Not really :/

  • o idk is that not a big improvement

  • I'm 16 an I run high 10s and I'm white. My primary race is the 110HH and I look to be in the low 14s or high 13s this year.

  • why is he jumping sig sag at the start..?

  • its called a stagger, to gain speed quicker.

  • im 13 nearly 14 and run it in 12.7 and im white

  • And your white? haha?!? Anyways that is pretty good for a 14 year old. My brother will be 14 in October and he also runs somewhat as fast as 12.7 (cant remember exactly how fast though)

  • yo dude honestly u should take double x

because it will help u in your training alot trust me b/c ure already fast,y not get faster

  • What is double x? A supplement? I do take multivitamins.

  • nice form, around what time do you get in the 100m?

  • Thanks. My SB/PB is 10.82 (I ran my PB in the first run of the season and then i pulled my hamstring in my second race. So I would like to think that I would have gone a lot faster this season if not for my injury.)

  • slow as start no joke....

  • that was slow, lol

  • i dont go to any track teams only school

(doesnt count) mine's only 13.8 and im only 12=S?

  • Way to throw that arm!

  • Thanks man

  • 10,7 :-P

    One of Germanys Bessssst

  • hey, whats your pb m8, my start is terrible lol, mines 11.6 but i'm only 14 so you know.

  • kl if ur not lying ur wel fast. i do 12.2 and im fast. just started goin 2 athletics club aswel lol

  • kwl, who do you run for? I'm at preston harriers at the mo

  • im at bexley athletics club in erith

  • Im only 11 and i do district running i can run at 16 seconds i think. not sure

  • quite good for your age

  • I won my districs today i got a gold medal :)

  • are you in year 8?

  • Year 6

  • Congratulations pal ;)

  • Thanks :)

  • Stay low. I can see what your trying to do with youre take off but your following strides have to be just as powerful. Try longer strides with powere . This will also keep you low

  • wow,u guys are good,im running a 11.6 and im 16 years,im hell of a slow

  • 11.6 is not bad at all for a 16 year old. I think you can run really fast in a few years if you keep on training.

  • nah, track is like a kind of thing in school only (for me),i got no intention to pursue it as a career, but no doubt,i enjoyed it

  • Is you good in running fast.

  • I is pretty good and I is getting better

  • whats your 100m PB, thats a great start btw

  • Thank you. My PB is 10.83 but its two years old and im hoping to run at least under 10.60 this summer.

  • Nice start you look like you can run fast for the 100m but I bet you can´t run 400m under 51.00sec

  • Hahah I beg to differ, I have never run a 400m race. But under 51.00 is no problem I can and i WILL. As for you, you strike me as a guy who cant run the 200 meters under 23.00 ;)

  • Hahaha

  • i think you shoulder start the sprint lower and about 1.5 seconds gradually raise your body

  • Technically good start, look at his arm come above his head, that is what you want so that your front leg is fully extended, then stay low for drive phase into transition, nice post.

  • lol sweet

  • A good drill i have found is to have someone hold a broomstick or something relatively hard above your head just after your start. this will cause you to overcompensate, in turn making you stay very low, which from what i know is good. i say good start otherwise!

  • i actually think thts a pretty bad start

u will have no acceleration on ur first step

ull be in the air while everyone else will b 3steps ahead of u

  • Well i disagree, from what I have read (I have been reading about sprinting for quite a few years now) the best position coming out of the blocks is in a 45° angle. There the balance between ground and air is ideal and thats how you get the best drive out of each step. But hey thats just what i believe, I could be wrong ;)

  • it could be that ur in slowmotion that makes it seem ur in the air for longer

but idk it seems liek a big step still

  • thats actually a great start

  • olitomas, i agree beppellotino is really a dumbass . Then your block start is quite clean,

  • you are only a shit

  • Having seen your youtube profile, I can see that you are indeed the biggest shit of all. And being called a shit from a SHIT like you is like being called a stupid spoiled whore by Paris Hilton. I urge everyone to click beppellotino's link and look at him flexing his "muscles"(only skin and bones) its really sad. Otherwise thanks for the uplifting and inspiring comment.

  • Hahaha! That was hilarious!

  • its rather simple the start.... no major secret to it... just keep ur feet as close to the ground as possible... reduces inertia, reduces time taken to ground contact also increases lateral movement...rapid small steps... watch asafa.. his heels barely flicks..

  • If you could get a little more knee extension on the first step so you could drive down and back rather than down that might be your only flaw. Maybe get a slight angle in the backward driving arm but everyone straightens it.

  • Hi, thanks for the comment. I think you are 100% correct about the knee, and that is just what I have been trying to fix. As for the hand I like to straighten it rather than to bend it even though its "wrong".

  • i think youve got a good start but if u wanna cut ur time by at least .5 seconds dont jump as much of the block stay lower like a bar is right above ur head for about the first 10 strides

  • try bending your arm, a bent arm moves quicker than a straight arm :).

  • nice start

  • danm that shit was peferct i mean danm if u wanna know how to get blowed on the track dats how u do it.i mean yea ur arms was good to b honest but ur first step is to short kid jump out the blocks wat u scared?

  • that was actually pretty good distance for a first step. i just watched an asafa start and he has a shorter step than do you.

  • u need to work on ur footwork

  • how do u run a 10.27/10.31 and u dont go D1 or even D2 in the U.S. are u kidding me?...theres no way u run times like that and ur not in a D1 college somewhere as for the starts ur arms were poor and

  • You run for a club in Iceland? Does it provide any fanacial support or anything? I'm a sprinter in America looking to run after college and there isn't much in the way of support and training around here. Anyone in Iceland want a 10.27/10.31 sprinter to train with? I'll come over if you guys know anything about sprint training and can help me put food in my mouth and a roof over my head.

  • people who boast a lot won't get any where, u may be a 10.31 and a 10.27 big woop but it's all in the head. Can your 10.27 be able to win u an olympic gold in a bowl of about 10,000 - 100,000 people. Not yet alone 3 million even billion of people watching you....don't think so. work on it.

  • The reason I'm "boasting" about my time is because I'm trying to work on it.

  • Yes I run for a club in Iceland called FH. Although I would love to train with someone who can run 10.27 i'm afraid that there is not much(if any) money to make from running in Iceland. My club is the biggest one in Iceland and they would maybe pay for housing but i doubt they would pay for food aswell. I can ask if you want me to. And if you want to go somewhere just to train I don't think that Iceland is the best option, its very cold! But then again we have a great indoor facility.

  • Well I'll actually message you specifically through your youtube account rather then keep posting on here. I'm just trying to find options, I've only been graduated from college for a year and I'm still trying to find out the best way to continue my track career. Keep an eye out for my message.

  • well then I apalogize for my actions....I hope you find a place and good luck

  • Your right arm posture is poor in coming out the blocks both arms should be at about 90 degrees at the elbows

  • nice form but your losing time...your first step is barely past the starting line

  • you will never run the 100 meters in under 10 secs

  • How do you get so high? I always just come straight out.

  • Hi, it is all in the hands. You have to drive you hand forward. As well as keeping your head down (i know sounds strange when talking about getting higher, but it works). Are you a sprinter?

  • Yes, in the 200m and 400k, but I did the 100m in High school.

How do you run? Is it club?
