yes me too. i was transfixed. so went to see him as a 15 year old at marquee club solo. '76. Lovely performance that was. the echoplex stuff he was doing was kind of panning around the room. I'll never forget it.
To know him was to love him.........i've enjoyed 30 years of joy and genius....one man who never sold his sole to the industry..i remain a servant and lover
I first encountered John Martyn @ the Cropredy Fairport reunion in 1987 (I think). It was 'Spenser The Rover' which was the highlight of the whole festival for me, even though I lost a lens in my specs while enraptured by it wending my way back from the gents!
Sadly not. I only have what they decided to put on the "In vision" video. Personally, I'd have included Head & Heart rather than Dealer but who am I to say?
Just bought the new BBC CD and discovered that the version of Head & Heart I think you're referring to isn't actually from this gig. It's from 1971, which is probably why it's not on the video!! I was expecting a version I hadn't heard before too! :(
Theres Magic here.

I saw this as it was transmitted, with the TV down and the radio up, also recording to cassette, his music has been with me ever since, a great man.

Is that the BBC with a recording from Glastonbry 1986?? Or is it a new one? Cheers!

New one. Just been released. BBC Live in Concert. There's a really interesting one due for release later in the year recorded at a gig in 1973.
