  • Doctors called it "Traction Park" or "Accident Park". STAY AWAY FROM THE TIDAL WAVE POOL KIDS!

  • this place looks badass! these kinds of places never last cuz someone always gets hurt and ruins it for everybody else!

  • There's nothing in the world like Action Park...

    OHMYGODGETMEOFFTHISRIDEIDON'TWANNADIE!!!!!

  • My dad took us to all of the nearby parks but dared not bring us there. We used to see all of the TV commercials and all the news reports.

  • haha i grew up in Vernon, i survived Action Park

  • 0:20 Is he high? From what I've heard of that place years ago, and read about online recently, I wouldn't be surprised!

  • aww , it's not that radical guys it's much more radical when you ride down all the ski slopes on a bicycle , wearing 2 or 3 hundred dollars worth of protective gear .now that really makes it! Of course your going to die with no protective gear !! Let's go retro early 80's and wear NO GEAR !!!Well have a "NO Gear party" and ALL DIE ! Cool whos bringing the cigarettes , i'll be there in my Ford pinto Explosion mobile ,packing my lunch with plenty of POP Rocks and soda.Anyone have extra Rid-aline

  • there's nothing closer to death than Action Park

  • Accident Park, as we used to call it. You were lucky if you came out of there without injury.

  • This water park is still technically open. It's called Mountain Creek and it's a lot safer than it used to be.

  • @jerzeytpke its not closed they just changed the name...it's now Mountain Creek Waterpark...

  • Hey it`s jason voorhees at 0:08 ! oh i get it , so thats how he died?!

  • @Linkbrawlmaster THAT LITERALLY JUST MADE ME LOL

  • you know that lady at the the end probably died

  • Whats the chance that everyone in this commercial has died at this amusment park

  • Whats the chance that everyone in the background is most likely dead from riding these rides?

  • @packerfan10 Nope. Nobody ever went down there, and it was mostly kept around for bragging rights. They put a dummy in there, and it came out in peices.

  • @suckyfivedolla It actually opened for 2 brief periods over time. It first opened in summer, 1985 and was almost instantly closed by the NJ Board of Amusement Ride Safety due to "Bloody noses and back injuries". They tried again in 1995 with the same result. Also, Over the years, Employees have reported they were offered hundred-dollar bills to test it. Tom Fergus, "one of the idiots", said "$100 did not buy enough booze to drown out that memory." I don't want to know what that was like.

  • 6 people died here.;

  • Did anyone else notice that dude who did the flip off the rope came super close to smashing into what ever was sticking out in the water....Also it's like coming to Broadway?..I guess it would be if watching a play at broadway could kill you,lol

  • I didn't know Mad Max was based on a true story.

  • You know that guy at 0:19 is about to get seriously handicapped

  • Chuck Norris used to go to this park everyday.

  • lmfao

  • I remember being able to buy buy beer at this place when I was like 18 and then went on water rides and drove race cars................

  • I used to love this place. Visited several times as a teenager in the 80s. Curiously, it never really occurred to me that most of the rides could result in serious injury or death even though I was one of those who took a spectacular spill on the Alpine Slide.

  • Will never forget in 95 all the times I went to AP and the slide was never open and then as we were leaving the partk the looping slide was open, went to go on it and they said I was big enough, didnt weigh enough, if only I was a few pounds bigger I would have gotten on it. Fucking sucks. Man that place was teh shit though, alpine slide my friend got fucked up, the swings water is so cold, park was deadly but awesome.

  • What a radical place it was!

  • Stil in a wheelchair from this place

  • @quesfire what happened?

  • "there's no other park like it"...gee, I wonder why? lol.

  • I was wondering if it was possible to go down that loop water slide without getting an injury? Did anyone ever make it out okay?

  • 0:21-0:23 That guy most likely went on to become a future member of JackAss.

  • I always wanted to go here as a kid but my parents would'nt take me, they said it was too dangerous.

  • I'm doing a research paper on amusement parks and safety, and my research led me to Weird NJ's article on the subject. Among other things, the nicknames given to Action Park made me lmao. "Class Action Park," LOL! XD

  • Is it me or does that little boy at the beginning totally look Toxie?

  • 2 people were ones who had injuries at traction park.

  • creepy

  • and i honestly think wavepools in general are dangerous. i know a few people drowned in the wave pool at the nearest amusement park here and that place isn't even dangerous really. oh yeah and no offense, i don't think some shitty amusment park is the testament to how tough you are. i get hurt at plenty of other places, why would i go to an amusement park for the sole purpose of hurting myself? sorry i'm a "pussy" for not being sadistic to myself.. god people are fucking idiots.

  • @youknowyourrite1

in action park you get yourself (got) injured for fun.

  • i can't believe police didn't closed that shit after a few days

  • ohh godd the kid at 0:08 really does look like Jason Vorhees as a kid!

  • @Akubz18 omg inorite!

  • Accident Park

  • 'There's no other park like it' you got that right motherfucker

  • I was in H. S. when I came here I enjoyed the bob sled rides that you would zip down or the water slides. The wave pool you really had to work on swimming to get across it. They were not kidding that you could drown. you were tired & it did simulate real waves. You had to be a good health or it kicked your butt.

  • @0h4cryn0utloud I was 6 3/4 when I was at Action Park in 1996, and remember struggling to keep my head above the water. :P [I have a great memory]

  • We used to call it Traction Park because someone always got hurt there.

  • 0:08 - Looks like Jason Voorhees as a kid

  • Why does everyone call it "injury park"?

  • @ledzep76 who is everyone?

  • @ledzep76 cause it was incredibly easy to get hurt there and alot of people did.. oh yeah and like 6 people died there too.

  • Back when people weren't pussies and willing to seek real THRILLS

  • I almost drowned in the wave pool! :)

  • that woman gave a weird emphasis on Broadway

  • Theres no better place to die like Ac-tion Park!

  • I used to go there in the 70's and I have the scars to prove it.

  • Theres nothing in the world like class-Action park!

  • My mother just told me that when she used to work for UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) in the Bronx back in the 80s, they had a trip to Action Park for staff only (don't worry, no cerebral palsy kids were invloved). She said when they were ready to go back home, two of her co-workers left injured. These two co-workers both got injured on the same ride. Both of them hurt their feet on rocks. One hurt her ankle and came back to work with a cane, the other fractured her toe.

  • @barnesfam Walking around the roaring springs part of the park, with the rocky terrain around Roaring Springs [Gauley/Thunder Run], the diving cliffs, Colorado Rapids, etc, alone could and still CAN cut you up badly, and make you fall if you're not careful.

  • 1983 - just before the upsurge in the death/injury rate from what I've read.

  • theres nothing in the world like suicide park !

  • its likegoing to broadway! the thing is people didint die as much as action park

  • 0:02 That would never happen in ANY water park.

  • you can see the guy at 20 seconds has had brain damage from the dangerous rides.

  • I remember leaving the park as a kid with my friend limping on badly bruised and twisted ankle. I forgot what it was that he hurt himself on but I remember the employee pushing us into the ride with the heel of his foot! And I still remember the sight of a guy with blood red shins near the bottom of the Alpine slide as I left. But as a kid I thought it was the best trip to an amusement park ever.

  • We called it Traction Park here. Great place to have some fun while getting seriously injured on an unsafe and poorly designed ride.

  • 0:17 #LOL DROWN

  • Ah, good ol' Traction Park.

  • **FUN FACT**: Action Park actually employed someone that would stand by the exit and eviscerate you with a meat clever if you happened to walk out without any injuries or body bags.

  • The poor girl at the end looks (and sounds) like she's getting a pretty thorough waterslide enema :o/

  • Suicide Park! nice...

  • All the faggots got hurt and sued the place shutting it down!!! Assholes they are!!!!

  • ♪ come and get killed at action park ♪

  • hes right there IS no other park like it! U can have fun and DIE!

  • It's like coming to broad-WAY

  • I only went there maybe twice, but was crazy! I remember when they finally closed that Alpine slide due to too many injuries - lol! I would always get a crappy sled/scooter thing and get stuck a few times on the way down. The lever in the middle did nothing - lol! The one time I was there someone got really hurt - peeled allot of skin off their arm when they fell and slide on the Alpine slide.

  • its not even like this anymore i went here in june nn they still had that tarzan swing thing but non of the other rides that would actually kill u(every ride can but its more uncommon for the rides there now)

  • "It's like coming to Broadway."

  • "There's lots of different ways for kids to get killed here!"

  • worst park in the US

  • The great place to get killed. Plenty of ways for the kids to get killed there.

  • @fireman6710 only 6 guys died, and 3 were over 20...

  • The employees actually broke into the micro brewary they had and stole beer from there.

  • @fireman6710 some of them were smoking weed as well.

  • I got destroyed on that rope swing in '84. Action Park was the best unsafe waterpark ever!

  • @christiancarr did you go on the loop waterslide???

  • that last guy creeped me out

  • a travel ad to get u into hell

  • Action Park Was Awesome.... the insane thing is that they served beer. The Alpine ride had a wall of injuries (photographs) while you were waiting on line. Dozens of picts of people burned, bruized and just f-d up. What fun... some of my favorite youth memories are being at Action Park with my cousins.

  • @papageorgio419

I agree, i went to action park in the 80s many times during the summers.

It was the best, even with my injuries. Def. agree, with the wall of injuries.

  • @palch07

yes indeed lol notice how they defend themzelf at the rope swing

  • i miss the pain of action park but THEY MADE ANOTHER JUST MADE IN 2008 NAMED MOUNTAIN CREEK ITS ACTION PARK BUT THEY RE- DID IT!

  • welcome to the park of death!

  • There's nothing in the world like Traction Park!

  • i went here and you will get hurt, i got hurt three times in one day

  • :16 "It's like coming to Broad Way, it's wonderful!"

    Lol. Broad Way alright.

  • I saw the saddest thing when I went to Mountain Creek last summer. Motorworld was shut down and dismantled. Practically all of it is gone. But the area of the Tank Ride is still there, it's nothing but a vacant lot. Sad. The Mini-IndyCar track is a condo development.

  • "But the area of the Tank Ride is still there, it's nothing but a vacant lot."

Wait, I saw that last time I went too. Surprised that most of the Waterworld rides are there in some form.

  • traction park. I remember seeing the loop de loop water slide when I was there. looked impossible lol

  • this is the same thing as communism it works only in theory

  • Class Action Park...

  • Yea, I have been injured. Yea, I have scars. But their rides were the greatest! Nothing will ever compare as long as we have lawyers. This was the best, the wildest, the most innovative and craziest water park ever built. My friends and I will always reminisce of the good ol' days of the best 5-man rafting ride ever!

I still have scars on my leg from wiping out on the Alpine slide (totally my fault)... And that was 15 years ago! But hey, scars are tattooes with better stories!

  • more like class action park.

  • Action Park was a Rite of passage for boys and girls from the tri-states! We walked through its Blood Stained Gates To truly test our grit.

  • Greatest park ever!

  • I when like 2 times to action park when i was like 12 years old, the park was good it was fun.

  • I read that many people were hurt during the filming of this commercial.

  • more like fraction park

  • Very 80's. I read dat one of da main attractions there was medical center...hahaha.

  • Hopefully the people who ran Action Park are all in prison for life.

  • more like death park

  • most of the water rides in this commercial are still there.

  • now it is called mouintain creek

  • Traction Park!!!

  • I remember when this used to be shown on WPIX in the 80s

  • My bones ache just watching this. I had a great time there as a kid but some of those rides were out of control!

  • More like Traction Park

  • it reminds me of the old Whalom Park in Lunenburg, Massachusetts

  • This place wasn't as dangerous as people make out. Only idiots tended to get hurt. It was rarely due to malfunctions. In fact, Six Flags Great Adventure has had many many more deaths. More ppl died on one day at Great Adventure when the haunted house burned down in the mid 80's than during all the years Action Park operated.

  • There's a good chance that some of those people in the background are sustaining serious injuries even as the camera rolls.

  • I would've called it DeathPark but Action is good too.

  • You know you're from Jersey if you were seriously injured at Action Park.

  • @ChrisBabaganoosh lol. its fun now, since its been re-opened and made safer as Mounntain Creek Water Park

  • It's like going to Broadway, it's wonderful.

Because it's so hard to get to Broadway from North Jersey.

  • Whose idea was it to make an unheated waterpark in chilly mountains in north Jersey?

  • @starlinej

The same people who thought it was a great idea to make customers (mostly barefoot or wearing flip flops) carry their heavy tube rafts to the start of the ride...up hills made of gravel.

  • This was a great place.. lots of memories! I used to love watching, as a kid, older dudes get drunk, then at some point decide they were olympic divers and plummet to their peril! Funny times! I miss Action Park!

  • I almost drowned at this place...

  • most of those rides are still there. i go every summer

  • The place is closed down. Been closed for ages. Its funny though that place was majorly unsafe yet people still went

  • this was a park where you could get stoned

  • 5 ambulances. No waiting.

  • 0:05

    EIGHTIES HAIR!!!

  • I love how the people are obliviously talking while the kids in the background are dying in painful and horrible ways.

  • @EltBerserker

    thought the same thing!

  • The ultimate thrill park...

  • did they have a 100ft jump slide? and a 50ft one?? my uncle said they did..

  • I went every summer for 6 or 7 years in the mid 80's and was only hurt once (road rash on the Alpine Slide) - and was due to my own stupidity as was trying to catch up to a girlfriend who had a big head start. Nothing but great memories of the place.

  • TRACTION PARK!!!

  • i remember when i was little as i was sliding down it felt like there was a claw and left scartch marks on my backside lol

  • I love how the old guy is wearing a Disneyland shirt with Mickey Mouse on it.

  • Ah the 80's when amusement parks were actually potentially dangerous.

  • what's more fun than children being expelled from Giant industrial tubes into a cesspool of bacteria?!!

  • the kid in the pool at :08 looks like lil Jason Voorhees

  • lmao i watched it again and im dying of laughter

  • i was thinking the same thing!

  • They should remake his origins where instead of drowning in a lake, he drowned at action park.

  • it looks like it was better back then.

  • That's where the Alpine slide is that I remember from my youth. I could never recall where it was, that I went on that thing.

  • I still bear the skid mark burns from the Alpine Slide many yrs ago.....AT ACCCCTION PARK!!!! =P

  • lol i remember one of the slides felt like nails scratching your leg on the way down haha

  • lol thats my kind of park!

  • that person on the last few seconds of the video probably got a water enema

  • There's nothing in the world like (Class) Action Park!

  • The slides at 0:17 are called Cannonball Falls today; the water is now clear and the slides painted black, but still just as cold as it was back then.

  • I thought they retained the name from the Action Park days. A lot of other rides, apparently according to the DoD3 article "Remembering Action Park" it seems like aside from the wave pool and a few slides, the majority of Action Park's rides are still there. I went on the Colorado River ride yesterday, and the spirit of Action Park still resides there.. let's just say heads met several times, and we almost got thrown off the ride from the intense bucking more times than I can count on one hand

  • well i went on that and when i did i wound up getting whip lash from going over a huge rock and i hit my teeth into my dads knee, made my teeth bleed, and his knee has a scar from me and my teeth, i also went on the black hole tube and we got stuck in the middle, we both fell off our tub and it went down without us, but luckly other people came slamming into us and gave us a ride down -______-

  • now its mountain creek haha. i snowboard there. chyea 973

  • :13 LOL!!! Yeah right gamma!

  • lol wat was the death tool for here? 10-20people???

  • I hear 377 were killed

  • Lol, there's no place like (Tr)Action Park!

  • THE FUNNEST PLACE TO DIE!!

my fave is the father who worked there and wouldn't allow his children to go there.

  • "Die at action park and get your next admission half off!"

  • I loved the alpine slide!! It was the ultimate rush, not knowing whether you'd live to go on it again. The tank ride was awesome cuz you could pelt each other with tennis balls. I miss action park. To many pussy parks today so focused on safety. What fun is that!??!?!

  • This was probaly the inspiration for a few episode of the Simpsons.

  • lol.

The slogan should have been "where north jersey comes to die"

  • Highest Death Rate in America!

  • its crazy how many people died there

  • Action Park was the best when it was Action Park. Then came along Mountain Creek and got rid of the best rides. Should have left it the same. I hate change!

  • i remember staring at the loop slide thinking how the hell someone could stay sliding all around it with water under them all around the top - seems like either the water or the person would have to fall in some part of the loop no mater how fast they were going. and it wasn't open for riding.
