I love this song so much. It took me quite a while to get into Intriguer, but now I'm completely besotted. It may not be their best album to date, but it contains some of the sweetest, most beautiful melodies Neil Finn has come up with. An example being this very song. "Sweet dreams/make waves/find bliss" is pure lyrical ecstasy for me, and the music matches it.
@ExpectationsShotgun Yes, not the best - it seems in places to go good/not so good/good/not so good. For instance, Saturday Sun, Amsterdam, Falling Dove & twice if you're lucky
I was going to write pretty much the exact same thing as u on this song. that line 'sweet dreams, make waves, find bliss'. doesn't get better. Inspiring. One of the all time great songwriters.
@jeffcrapinthehead Thanks for the comment as I hadn't listened to this song in a while and I'm rediscovering it all over again right now! lol Yes, definitely in the higher bracket of brilliance!
This very well might be in the top 5 best songs Neil Finn has ever written. Adam Duritz (Counting Crows) used those chorus chords in one of his songs, “Speedway”, but they don’t sound nearly as correct as they do in this song. Neil is simply one of masters of melody.
As good and better as anything Lennon or McCartney ever wrote
