And no one could get out there to save me so I had to make my own way out. Sadly I will be trading it off for a 2012 wrangler. The new 3.6l looks promising!

The difference is that you won't have to beat the crap out of your truck to get over shit so much. It's a trade off.

No to conquer mud you need a good power to weight ratio and the 4.0 is lighter and gives a jeep an awsome power to weight ratio that will make it not sink as bad and maul through mud like you wouldnt think possible.
@abbott911 The difference in weight between the 4.0L I6 and the 5.2L V8 is very small. If I recall it was less than 100lbs. Basically less of a weight difference then between a fat and skinny driver...
Right now i got a cherokee sport with a 5 speed manual 6 inline 4L, and it did some runs with 32" TSL's on it, right now im trying to switch the lift to a 3-4 inch, its sitting with a 2" right now. id let it howl, i drove mine 2 years on a howling diff after rebuilding it (ring gear bolts backed out) and finally replaced the entire axle because someone gave me one. otherwise wouldn't have even bothered. (stock axles btw)

@jeepcherokeetallia 6'' lol what a joke, me and my buddy have been jumpin his cherokee on 33's over 2ft all the time for the past 4 years, 2 months ago we were gettin air over 4ft, thats when u should stop, but we didnt and destroyed his radius arms.. that axle nailed rocks goin 20 and slamed us against the dash, and has handled numerous 4wd burn outs just fine,,, and u say 6'' hahahahaha

if anyone has a 97 jeep grand Cherokee limited 4.0L can they please post a video on the gear system inside the truck, I have seen like 100 videos of these things but nobody ever shows the gear leaver I wanna see how the low range and 2 wheel drive selection works. is there another (second gear lever) for this purpose? I want to see a video showing the switching between gears etc...

@MultiBamf69 I have a 98 with 257000km on it.. never off roaded... yet lol. Just bought it about a month ago... and well... it doesn't off road well in 4 feet of snow lol... get's a couple feet. I have some front end issues, i was going through receipts that were in the glove box, and most of the front end parts i need... were bought within the last 2 years. And all of them have 5 year warranty, HELLO, free parts :)

No to conquer mud you need a good power to weight ratio and the 4.0 is lighter and gives a jeep an awsome power to weight ratio that will make it not sink as bad and maul through mud like you wouldnt think possible.

@abbott911 The difference in weight between the 4.0L I6 and the 5.2L V8 is very small. If I recall it was less than 100lbs. Basically less of a weight difference then between a fat and skinny driver...

it was very capable before, now its just super capable.

Right now i got a cherokee sport with a 5 speed manual 6 inline 4L, and it did some runs with 32" TSL's on it, right now im trying to switch the lift to a 3-4 inch, its sitting with a 2" right now. Jeeps rulez :D (at 51 seconds u see him spinning those wheels, try some super swampers. ;) super good traction

i super love my jeep too. It runs super good at 170k miles. whats wrong with your differential? my jeep working good right now. I think i might do the "fast 40$" intake. lol! Pull the housing out and throw a spectra filter on the end of the stock tube.

id let it howl, i drove mine 2 years on a howling diff after rebuilding it (ring gear bolts backed out) and finally replaced the entire axle because someone gave me one. otherwise wouldn't have even bothered. (stock axles btw)
