Man there will never again be a series so well thought out and planned as TNG. I had something good to look forward to on TV then. There is no good sci fi on today's television. It was all mixed with horror which sums up TV nowadays. Wish I could go back.

wes the crusher reminds me of an innocent puppy that was sweet when it was little then it grows into a fucking anoying character. AAAAHHHHHHHHHH! RAGE!
There will always be a place in my heart for the next generation it was there for me in a particularly dark time of my life where a lot of bad things went on, it was always reassuring to know that I had it to come home to, it was one of those things that made me feel safe and secure. Watching it now brings back to the old memories of feeling safe and secure in my bedroom and watching one of my star trek tng videos.
Sorry I'm getting really deep and personal now. Great video
The 1st season always reminded me a lot of TOS. Almost all of the episodes in both had optimistic endings. Since TOS was their only reference point, it's easy to see why they're similar
First of all, all you people being so critical of this show, all I have to say is, Let's see you do any better! It's so easy to be critical of others, I never understood all the hostility in the YouTube comments. It's like a giant forum for angry, self-righteous people.
Anyway, I like this video because it shows the evolution of the series first episodes condensed down to just the endings, of course you have to know the episodes to appreciate this video, but still, very interesting.
I wonder why Troi went from that outfit and hairdoo in the first season to the brown or blue outfit and longer hair. In my opinion, 1st season Troi was awesome!
Starting in Season, he was promoted to Lieutenant and made Chief Engineer. He's not a pilot actually in season 1, he's a bridge officer just as Worf is.
hey whats the episode called where that one alien comunicates telepathcly and they learn enlgish but they havnt used their vocal cords in so long they use aids on their throats. troi often translated for them.
@blastardinc Ha! Yes! The next moment you DON'T see is them looking at each other: "Um, shall I put the kettle on? Maybe spend a few hours on the holodeck? Game of Parisi Squares, anyone? Maybe take a nap?" :)
My fravourite episode with Wesley, was on that planet when he stepped over a fence to get a ball...and the authorities wanted to administer punishment...a leathal injection.
Dr. Crusher "No, Jean-Luc, you can't let them do this to my son...bla bla bla"
I met Gates McFadden in 2006...I forgot to ask her what she thought of Wesley...I'm betting that even she hated him. LOL
Keeping in mind that this was just a show, and that it is a fictional character...Personally, the whole Wesley Crusher "thing" just rubbed me the wrong way, as it did many other people. I am actually surprised that I have received two comments to the contrary, and I respect your opinion. However clever he was, the MAIN reason he had bridge privledges was because his mom was the chief med. officer. Happens in the real world too.
I also hated Dr. Polaski...anyone offended by that? Anyone?
Here is an example of why I hate Dr. Pulaski. Type this (below) into the search box.
ST:TNG - Pulaski bitchslapped
She was always very disrespectful to Data. Talked about him in third-person, called him "it", ect... He was a form of life, but she always questioned that fact.
I'm the only one I've ever met who liked Polaski. I liked that she challenged everybody. Crushers moral righteousness got on my nerves, and every time she'd whine about how the prime directive wouldn't let her do what she wanted, made me want to smack her. Polaski would do the same thing, except I got the feeling she was more of a force to be reckoned with. I think they wanted someone who had an attitude like McCoy. They made her leave cause she kept kicking their ass at poker.

The light hearted 'comedy' ending music is almost sickening. And John Williams ripping off his own Superman score like he did in a few other places too.
most of the episodes are picard looking sick to death of this weeks planet and they're annoying trouble causing inhabitants. "lets get away from here!"

I remember a lot of the early eps being a little too close to their original series counterparts. It got better as it went along, then got worse again, as many long running series seem to do.
Ya, this is part of the reason why the first season sucked. They tried to end every episode like the original series, everyone sitting around the bridge in smiles.

There is an episode where at the end of the show Riker tells gordi to lay in a course, gordi lays in a course with numbers only and rikers asks why pick a middle of nowhere and gordi replys "We've not been there". What is the name of the episode?

There is an episode where at the end of the show Riker tells gordi to lay in a course, gordi lays in a course with numbers only and rikers asks why pick a middle of nowhere and gordi replys "We've not been there". What is the name of the episode?
