3D movies first appeared in the 1950's, and people entered movie theatres wearing special red and green glasses. The very same technique was used in the 60's and 70's and specail 3D movies were broadcasted on tv in the 80's.

IMAX cinemas used 3D from 1985 onward for special documentaries.

Today's 3D is just the latest revival using the latest digital technique, but until we get true 3D without some glasses it won't ever take off and become the standard.

Why I like these movies better than the new ones (Heath Ledger aside. The Guy was a helluva Joker) is because these have more of a comic book quality to them. The Nolan movies make it more realistic in the real world, but I don't think they did the character justice. I HATE Christian Bale's Batman with a passion. Sure these aren't the best Batman movies, but can really ANYBODY get a good comic book movie exactly right?

If the Riddler ever reappears in a Batman film in the future, I'd like to see him protrayed by Seth Green. Why? 1. Because I think he'd be great in a serious role other than his usual comedy roles. 2. Because he has red hair, so he couldn't need to dye it. And 3. Because all suggested actors for the Riddler are comedians, such as Tim Burton wanting Robin Williams for his third film, and Joel Schumacher using Jim Carrey. PS, If you don't them serious, the Schumacher films make good comedy films.
