Well, if creating a black hole of GLOBAL DEBT is what this video was talking about, I can certainty say that the entire documentary is without a doubt correct in that assumption.
You shouldn't use Joseph Campbell and his teachings for your fear-mongering. Everything on this is taken completely out of context. I could say a whole lot more, but ill just sum it up with: This entire thing is shitty, shitty, shit.
Watched all 10 parts... I'd like my time back please. It ends with the same rehashed "but what if bad things might happen" mentality seen in virtually all ignorant skeptics... This film was obviously put together by someone who has a very limited understanding of history and nothing but fear and anxiety about the future.
First and foremost, I was and still am disgruntled by this video for the sole reason that I thought it was some documentary on RATM. But also I am pissed at it's producer for putting time and effort into such a fallacy. As People who believe in Gods and Magic should be refrained from meddling with science as they are prone to believing without proof via experimentation, please, theshift01, refrain from ever posting any videos, ever. On any subject. Ever.
@hu6h057 there are alot things that science can't explain, so does this mean science should not look into it? For an intellectual man as your self, I suggest you read The Purpose Guided Universe by the astrophysicist Bernard Haisch for some interesting facts about science.
@gsxxxrk5 Although Haisch makes some interesting points, I don't see how this pertains to my comment or when or where I ever affirmed that, science should or should not look into anything...
People have got to remember that science is a method, not an organization, nor a belief system. It is merely a method of data accretion and comparison via repeatable experimentation. Hence, a scientist would never put ideas forward with such certainty as the author of this video does.

A study was performed to address the concerns expressed about the possibility that the large hadron collider could create a devastating phenomenon like a black hole, or a stranglet. The risk was found to be negligible.
@Taizen001 Haha, you came here for a RATM documentry? Me too, I was like "Maaaan, what have Rage got against the LHC..... oh, right, yeah. Meh, I'll watch it anyway!".
A lifetime to be spent trying to kid myself and my pupils into believing that the thing that we are looking for is in books! People, you need to start hitting that Dislike button if you think that this is the paranoid bullshit that so obviously is.
Other than the fact that Joseph Campbell is talking about myths and this video is also talking about a myth. Why the hell is Joseph Campbell's name being besmirched by being connected with this rubbish?
The Joseph Campbell foundation should sue your idiotic arse whoever put together this shite.
Stating an obviously uninformed and completely disingenuous lie at :20 seconds into this video, I had to stop. Where is the evidence that any 'dog' created the earth.
Where is the evidence that supports this hypothesis? Unfortunately there is no evidence at all of any 'dog' creating the universe or the earth. If 'god' created this universe and saw that it was 'good' why then are there black holes wreaking havoc in the universe? Destroying stars at an alarming rate. Your video is disingenuous.
Well, it's 2011 and the earth hasn't been swallowed by an artifucially created black hole. This not a Joseph Campbell documentary; it's some dude's grim forecast of a sci-fi future with Campbell's thoughts grafted on to it. Not really all that cool...
you do realize that the SUN produces more charged particles at much greater velocities than the pea shooter that is the LHC could ever produce. and the sun has been doing it for billions of years. the earth is still here.

@BrunoPsicoBlues What if you have answers and solutions to these problems, but no one will listen? There's a line of code in the matrix that holds people back, constrains them, which is that everyone can agree on where we should be, but no one can agree on how we should get there.

Every Persons Little Book On Plutonium is a good read and written well. There are less than 1 in 10,000 ppl who really know what's going on with the nuclear industry. We've all been sold a huge lie and everyone has severely understated the danger of nuclear.
Our ignorance is our downfall.
Btw, don't listen to the rebuttals of this video without investigating the evidence yourself. Look, and trust your own eyes...but look at ALL sides.
Don't just listen to critics who throw big words around
Extremely stupid video. Technology may have been used wrong by POLITICIANS, but it also have save us and prolong our lives. Truman didn't regret using the H-bomb, in the other side Oppenheimer did regret helping creating it.
Knowledge and truth, that's what the LHC is all about. By the way, the article of Stephen Hawking seems to me that was taken out of context, the LHC will find out whether the M theory or the Higgs Boson are true, Hawking is all in.
Thanks Shift! The fact people are so entranced and in love with a politically charged band like RATM, but not willing to educate themselves or get involved to show support for this band makes me laugh! America is fat and stupid, and thats what these rich fat men want! Way to conform people!! knowledge is power..
@babblemk77 The best part is that RATM actually said about things that will hapenn and they did happen RAGE is best revolutionary music ever but people have to think of what is best for them on their own Rage only gives us the energy to protest but they arent politic's
It plays on associations. The title is obviously misleading and the rest seems to be manipulative tantalizing presentation of technology that will draw more money for speculation than actual practical use for common people.
Enjoy your splice together internet documentary, with dubious professors as sources of information, and a gramar error on the first title card.
"Technological civilizaton is programmed by the principle that if a machine is technologically possible, it must be done." Conjugation does not work that way you fuckwits, and neither do black holes.
Let me give you a better quote: "The Machine is strong. We must purge the weak, hated flesh and replace it with the blessed purity of metal."
Black holes are produced by particle accelerators all time. But they are microscopic and exist for under a nanosecond. Generating a sustained black hole is about as likely to occur as virgin birth.
OMG. It is all overrated... Kill all the fucking religious fanatics... They are too blind to understand physics. I am not even talking about CERN... It is outside of their mental possibilities. That's why they are frightened so much. They can only talk about fucking God and other voodoo crap...
read more books. This is so paranoid and un-informed. And posting it as "Rage Against the Machine" is totally disingenuous. Look up that word, and stop doing it.
You love video games and you're telling the people who who put this doc together to read more, please... You obviously haven't seen the whole documentary or you would understand why they called it Rage Against the Machine... And there's nothing special about the word "disingenuous"
I am going to assume that the makers of this film are aware that the "Nuclear" they refer to in the phrase "nuclear industry" at the beginning has nothing to do with the "nuclear" mentioned in the title "European Center for Nuclear Research". CERN study what makes up the nucleus of atoms. Being "nuclear". They do NOT create nuclear bombs.
Particle accelerators were developed to study both fission and later fusion so that they could develop both nuclear and hydrogen bombs... Please get your history right. In this documentary, there is an interview with one of the founders of CERN stating quite clearly the direct relationship between CERN and the physicists who worked on the bomb.
Editing is trickery. The question is not whether the Hawking headline is taken out of context or if Brian Cox is smart or not. Oppenheimer was a genius and he developed the bomb and later felt horrible for what he had done. Teller was a genius too, but he felt no remorse and would have developed any weapon imaginable. The creator of this documentary is not an alarmist, because most of the documentary deals in history, which is over. The issue is does the LHC fall in that category?
Did you watch part 6 watch?v=0FscVeK4zXw? Noam Chomsky tells how one Russian guy, Vassily Ahipov, prevented a nuclear war from starting during the Cuban missile crisis. Is that a successful example of deterrence? Sounds more like luck to me. And do you think it's any coincidence that those scientists who developed the bomb were awarded billions of dollars to study more physics for more powerful bombs. Seems like you're unwilling to admit that scientists also make bad things...
There is nothing evil about science, it's politicians who do crazy things, they did all the time.
We cannot stop the progress, you know, It's impossible. It's in human nature to do the progress. Even if we break that nature and go the Amish way, all of us of a sudden, this sorry civilisation will exists couple of thousand years and vanish, some asteroid will get it or a flew. All we can do is to carefully guide the progress. Please watch?v=cnQMHl8P5jA Technocalypse to weight all pro and cons.
Could you please advise: I have no access to part 7 and the audio for part 10 is unavailable. Also part 3 has no audio however I assume that part 3 is only music?
It only deals with military technology because the premise of this documentary is that a large part of what has shaped the history of civilization and the numerous wars that comprise that history is military technology. And the fact that past particle accelerators led to the development of both the atomic and hydrogen bomb does have implications for the LHC. No one can say yet whether research involving high-energy particle creation will have military applications. Its a necessary discussion.
@theshift01 Im interested in what you are saying but before I go any further I would care to know where you are comming from? Are these your own personal views or are you representing a group? Do you have a religious background? You seem to have annoyed quite a number here but there's nothing wrong in that.
The way your doco is put together is rather suggestive. It does consider the motivation for technology, but seems to only discuss technology that has been misused or caused harm and then includes the LHC alongside. This is wrong in my opinion and contributes to the pointless media hype over the LHC.You cant compare the motivation for development/use/results of the LHC to that of atomic weapons and other war related techs. The dangers associated with the LHC or higgs boson cannot be utilized 4war
This documentary doesnt blame technology, it analyzes and explores what motivates and has motivated technology for the past five thousand years. And considering that 100 million people were killed in the 20th century alone using this technology, I think it is more than valid to question what function technology serves in our society. Watch the entire documentary and please dont oversimplify the issue
The fear of the LHC is produced by total misunderstanding of the concepts of the particle physics as people are always afraid of what they dont understand. Any concerns of the LHC can be immediatly dispelled by the fact that particles strike the earth at orders of energy higher than the LHC all the time and obviously no black holes have been created! Technology should never be blamed for its misuse and the LHC should certainly be appreciated for its value to future scientific development

I wouldn't feel sorry, nukes are real peacekeepers and spurred progress of physics a lot.

The dangers associated with the LHC or higgs boson cannot be utilized 4war

you mean, not yet?
