  • This is such delicate disco composition

  • This comment is dedicated to all high robins like me :D

  • This song was such a hit in NY, there was a time when the 12" extended version was going for $75, an astronomical amount in those days. The Glory Days of Disco, it was, and right along with it, the Glory Days of nightclubbing. The fun we had in that era, OMFG, it was on a scale simply incomprehensible to the kids of today. New York City was the center of the world, as far as nightlife went. God, those were the days...:)

  • 525 mins

  • 1976 What a year those were the better days when music was music not like the garbage you hear on certain radio stations. This song sure does bring back fun memories just enjoying life and without working just going to school and having fun in the summer.Just being free and hanging with friends. 70's music is #1

(...at least according to a service named "Number One In History" at the page of a guy named Josh Hosler! They use Billboard numbers to find out the most played tune at your birthday. Search the web for "joshhosler" and "NumberOneInHistory"!)

  • I moved to Reform, Alabama the Summer of '76 and lived with my Dad. The Picken County High School Tornadoes Marching Band use to tear this song up. High School Football on a Friday Night in the South. You have to experience it to understand it. Everybody had fun and Pickens County Alabama was a 'DRY' County then and it still is today. Man we had fun that Summer and Fall. bilbo2shire

  • I LIKE...

  • This song tore the U.S. singles chart to shreds. Within 3 weeks of release, it was at no. 16. The next week it soared to no. 2, and the following week it booted k.c. and the sunshine band from no. 1. Spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum. Those were the days!

  • Good old days.

  • Never stopped loving this song. the great riffs and the real orchestra are hellava alot better than the morbid simplicity and down right electronic jibberish thats presently playing.

  • The sweet sound of the 70s , How wonderful they were !

  • @richieroller67 you said it mate! nothing can touch this classic disco vibe!

  • @richieroller67 Hard to believe this was 18 years before I was born... right when Pantry Pride was already closing! Makes me think of old school liquor stores.

  • @richieroller67 Kind of sounds like a line from a time life cd commercial :)

  • @mattwu911 lol

  • i love the pre 90s sound

  • The bass line in this song is classic and killer!

  • The Silverconventions together with the unforgetable Bert Kaempfert.

    An All Time Classic !

  • The violin players kick major butt!!...wonderfull fusion of pop and classic instruments...thank you for posting

  • @copperlocks1 Exaclty. Some misinformed people claim this song is talentless because it has very few lyrics, but they fail to realize the musicians behind Fly Robin Fly are indeed talented, and the trio's voices sound nice too :) In the seventies, it was required for mainstream musicians to possess such skills, unlike now.

  • @cheapcape Dear Sir

    Regards

It is not theta this song has few lyrics. It is the only song with only one very short sentence. And the talent is unquestionable. It is still popular.

    Thanks

    Blessings

    Uma maheswar

  • @cheapcape correction: it was required for studio musicians to possess such skills, the performers didn't have to be able to sing. But this song is brilliant: so few lyrics in so many songs, it's the bestest!

  • classic

  • Brings back memories of my teen years.

  • Redman and Methodman sampled this shit for the track How High. its Dope shit. listen to it

  • Great time, great music.

This music makes to remember a lot of things of my adolescence.

    That longing!

    Paulo - Salvador - Bahia - BRAZIL.

  • This song has some of the hottest violin rips i have ever heard!!!! the break and the bridge.......SICK!!!!!!!@!!

  • Driving back from Coney Island on a hot evening. Stopping at Sam's pizza to grab a slice and a coke. Head back to the house for more dancing and good times.

  • This reminds me of the Robinhood Hats back in the day! LOL!

  • Good string players - but geez - straight from the sausage factory; I'm sure the drummer slit his wrists after the session.

  • maybe.. but the whole disco, funk music didn't really need interesting drumming. A 4/4 is still hot

  • Didn't these women morph into Boney M? If they didn't they should have.

  • up up to the sky ;-)

  • great!!!

    Merci

  • This song always reminds me of Carlito's Way...

  • It even topped the Billboard Hot 100.

  • .....and won them a Grammy

  • Back when things weren't so formulaic.

  • @AllRequired Despite the song being good, I'd say things were Way more formulaic. Listen to Any disco song and you will notice that they use the same instruments and similiar chords. Fashion allways exists and so do trends. All music is formulaic in every era.

  • @ivanofna Some more so than others.

  • Method Man & Redman - How High :P

  • This song was always a favorite of mine, it has 70's written all over it. Then, there was a cute girl named Robin who was in my class back when I was in middle school when this song came out.

  • I hear ya, my cute chick was Kelly, back in second grade, when this song came out

  • wait a minute.. Didn"t somebody notice there was 5 minutes of song and 3 minutes of dead space?? Why is that?
