@lookin4skeezas There were two versions of this song recorded - one for the soundtrack for The Warriors (which was Joe Walsh solo), and then this one, which Joe recorded with the Eagles' for their 1979 album 'The Long Run'.
The warriors should have another movie about the gang coming together somehow and ruling the streets or defending themselves against some strong rivals... i would give it 10 out 10
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiioooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsssssssssss come out and play .... lol classic
Eagles 1979 Classic! KUDOS to Joe Walsh, Barry De Vorzon, Walter Hill and the Cast of The Warriors, an All Time Drive In and Theater Movie Classic! Peace and HOOAH!!
Yes I am very sorry about your dad. I grew up on The Eagles and both my mom and dad played them alot and my dad would sing there songs on his guituar and this song I have always loved.
It really don't matter what or when,he put the truth about life in the city and it still holds true today in those dark spots, back alley, outside the beautiful lights of the downtown areas, the reality of life mean, and a struggle for your sanity, just like he says.Thank You Mr. Walsh.
Joe Walsh did his own version but I don't think it was ever put out on a record. It puzzled me when the movie came out in 78 but the album didn't come out until 79.You'll have to google it to get more info on that.
@naturelover1957 I surely didn't... what album did he release it on? I have most of his solo stuff and I've never heard this song until "The Long Run" came out, which of course is an Eagles Album
I love this fucken song : ) Reminds me of when i was a 9 yr. old kid and was sent to live with my grandparents! on the way over there this song was playing on my aunts car tape player ;......{ memories ... eagles are the shit ; }
@Parkinish ....LOL....Sure!.......If you've only been playing for about 6 Months or less & don't practice with any regularity......in which case, you could safely make that statement about most any talented guitatist, such as Mr. J. Walsh.
@TheBeastmaul Don't care for Metallica but I love Megadeth, Maiden, and Slayer. Eagles are still at the top of my list. I listen to large variety from Tupac to Suicide Silence to Iron Maiden to Meg and Dia (Pretty gay, I know) to Styx and then of course to the Eagles.
i am sitting here sobbing as i listen to this song. my dad passed away last week, he loved the eagles so we had it playing in his hospital room (he was unconscious but we thought he might be able to hear). this was the song playing when he took his last breath and they turned off the machines. i had never heard it before and the lyrics are just so perfect, "somewhere out on that horizon, far away from the neon sky. i know there must be somethin' better, and I can't stay another night"!
@ktmlee1 so sorry for your loss! i was brought up on this music thru two older brothers. the eagles have made some great songs, also listen to :seagul: and : the way that i choose: by bad company. hopefully you.l find some comfort in them! chin up!
I feel your pain. I went through the same thing exactly with my dad....hugs to you...it is tough but he flying along with you....like an Eagle....watching over you everyday. Look for the signs of him around you...and he will be there!
@ktmlee1 sorry for your loss my friend, my uncle has just gone up to meet my mum, they were like two pea's in a pod, amazing people. never be forgotten
@ktmlee1 wow that is errie to read your comment, my dad passed 6 months ago and he loved the eagles too, and we were playing the eagles as he was going......now everytime I listen to eagles it reminds me of him even more.
@ktmlee1 God Bless Him and all your Family champ, Keep your chin up, trust me, I have been through so much in my life, but as long as the sun comes up each day it's a NEW day. :)
@ktmlee1 he went out listening to the eagles surrounded by people who he loved and people who loved him! now that's a great farewell, nothing to be sad about kid!
I was born in the city in a working class neighbourhood. I faced intolerance and bigotry. I had to work and fight my way up. I realize now that I'm better than those losers.
@illaztic why would a farmer boy dislike this song? if you pay attention to the song hes dissing the city and saying its dirty, gloomy and hes saying theres something better (the country). so if anyone were to dislike this id think it would be some yankee. but thats just my thought :)
I remember a cool Eagles video of this song where it shows the band in the studio playing this song. But I cant seem to find it anywere??Anyone no anything about it??I'm almost thinking maybe it doesn't exist.Man I remember when this song came out In my aunt's car they were all like these hippie burnout's and I was like this little 8-9 yr old kid out at11-12:00 at night cruisin around to different arcades on 8mile in Detroit anyone from detroit remember Wizard's on 8 mile??
