Joe Walsh did his own version but I don't think it was ever put out on a record.It puzzled me when the movie came out in 78 but the album didn't come out until 79.You'll have to google it to get more info on that.

i am sitting here sobbing as i listen to this song. my dad passed away last week, he loved the eagles so we had it playing in his hospital room (he was unconscious but we thought he might be able to hear). this was the song playing when he took his last breath and they turned off the machines. i had never heard it before and the lyrics are just so perfect, "somewhere out on that horizon, far away from the neon sky. i know there must be somethin' better, and I can't stay another night"!
