hey tarantula guy i need some help i really want a tarantula and im leaning towards a pink toe or a rose hair so this is my first tarantula and i would be keeping it in a 15 gallon glass tank so my question is which should i get?
@tarantulaguy1976 Cool rob thanks well Im using a tupper wear that about 13-14 inch's high and about 5 inch deep by about 12in wide and i drilled 5 1/2inch holes on top and on each side of unit i drilled 8 1/2 holes total of 16 holes between the 2 sides!! so 21 vent holes I glued screens on to make sure of no escape to me it looks like it will be good but how many holes should i have?? thanks man!!
i'm getting an a. versicolor, and i want to put live plants in her enclosure, however i don't know if Basil will hurt her or make her sick. I looked up information on the plant and it live in a similar climate, but i don't what she will think...what do you think?
what would be a good tarantula that fits nicely in a 2 1/2 gallon tank...i wanted a aboreal kind bcuz i already got a terrestrial T (mexican firelegs) in a 5 1/2 gaollon but its still like 2 inches so i have it in a container where it came from its pretty big for its size....im goin to the next reptile expo and i wanted to know a varieties of aboreal for my 2 half gallon
What would be the best T' to start of with? you see I love T's sooo much and because i'm a begginer i want the suitable T' for me so i can look after it the best I can
I'm going to get a Mexican Red Knee, they are supposedly the best beginning T and I have been researching them and they do seem nice and easy to maintain.
I like the package, i got one Haplopelma L. once and she was just in a simple plastic box and in a package..i was shocked-glad she survived the journey thought! But still shocked. "Your" breeder did an exemplary job on it. Just wonder why she cooled out? Was it a very cold day when they sent it?... We normaly prefer summer for sending Spiders (or even better getting em ourself) :)
All your vids are top notch; I learn so much from them. I am amazed however, even with my vids, how many comments get posted about handling and showing the T's off a little being "cruel."
I have a dedicated T room that is at a constant temp of 83 degrees and 85% humidity....I don't suggets using heat mats - they create "hot spots" that can kill a tarantula. Rather, try using a small room heater with a thermostat to warm up the area you keep your T's....
err ok thats kind of cruel stuffing a spider in a tiny container then in a large box to be roughly handled. Ive never known to bring home a spider in that way i never did that with my tarantulas.
yeah i spose they would get killed if they werent, it just seems abit cruel coz she looked kinda squished when you opened her up like she wuldnt have enough oxygen or smethin.
What do you keep your temps at for your T's like i notice you have a lot of them in one room. What is that daytime room temp and night time temp? and what heating methods do you use?
My T room has it's own heater and owm 50 gal humidifier and 2 back up humidifiers. They are all on commercial grade hydrometers/thermostats...the day time temp is 82-83 and night is 78-80.

@gigaboot2 I wouldn't use a heatpad on any T, not a good idea since they can cause hotspots.
