  • This video is awesome. I haven't seen an extraction like this before. You guys did good.

  • great job!! i saw a truck just like this one stuck in a place just like this. they were tryin to pull it out from the front. ur way turned out much beter

  • Now that was a good extraction. Well done guys. Nice to see the Jeep helping out the Nissans

  • That guy sucks at driving lol

  • @bOOSTEDjOSH was wondering WHY he drove down there too... lol

  • You guys are some pros, most people would hook a chain to it and try yanking it out of there and end up tearing up both vehicles. There is a video on you tube here of some guys trying to pull a Cherokee out of a similar situation, They yank on it and rip the front end right out of it.

  • @HerecomestheCalavera funny, I came close to pulling a truck out of a flooded river with my Civic.

Someone else with a 4X4 showed up first tho.

  • That was a great job.. Most of the time people are not patient enough and destroy their vehicles trying to drag them out no matter what

  • u guys are sooo dumbb

  • Excellent work, thanks for uploading. I got a Nissan King Cab like the 1 in the video. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.

  • ossum - probably the best 4wd extraction I've ever seen. May I ask what the deal is with the towel over the winch cables ?

  • @M0ntaroo The towel is placed on the winch line to dampen the recoil if the line were to break under pressure.

Simple and effective safety device that you can use to wipe off sweat when you're done. lol

  • @M0ntaroo So they can see how much the cable moved over? Thats my guess!

  • @illchewonthatrug

It's for safety... If the cable breaks under load it will fly.. The towel makes it alot harder for the cable to "fly". It's in the middle so both vehicles are protected equally.

  • I've got an 04 X I'd like to put a little money into... one question whats the CV?

  • CV's are the axles that connect your wheel to your front differential. It's what almost all front wheel drive vehicles use, and 4x4's with independent front suspension.

    "CV" stands Constant Velocity

It's actually called a "CV Joint"

  • ooo gotcha

  • leave it cover it up .easier for the next guy

  • Was that Boomhauer from King of the Hill at 2:30???

  • This was filmed in Texas...

That was me talking. What I said right there was. "Okay hold on Barry. Let me make sure that line-cable er blanket is not goin in."...giggitty

  • awesome job on the recovery!! nissan the only way!!!

  • i love my 08 x

  • can you read this? go to my person--al page to see me n-a-k-e-d meetyourfling(.Com)

  • Nice job with the extraction. If I were stuck like that, I'd rather have people that "overthink" how to get me out. It's better than a bunch of idiots with a rope that think they can just pull and completely wreck my truck or get me stuck worse. Nice job, nice teamwork.

  • totally agree man sometimes you can do some serious damage yankin on a truck

  • someone probably could have got down behind him and winched him straight out throw a strap over top of the nissan to keep it from flipping. you guys over thought that one way too much

  • You are absolutely right. I sure wish you would have been there to show us how to do an extraction the "right way"

Now maybe you should go watch the other video where it shows us trying to pull him out forward and busting the CV by driving the tire into a crevice. I get a kick out of you internet wheelers who dish out all this great advice just by watching a video.

ps: If we could have gotten him out forward it would have damaged the rig alot more than it did.

  • Amen Testify brotha TrailChaser.

  • yeah.. there was no way he was gonna get pulled forward.. something would've had to give.. pulling him out the way he came in was the best approach.. was interesting how you held the rig with a winch from up top as well so it wouldnt tip over.

  • I like how everyone uses the word " I THINK?" hahaha

  • lol

That's peoples way of stating... I have something to contribute, but I don't want to be held responsible for my idea.

  • wow when i 1st turned the vid on i was like, holy shit thats gotta suck a lot being stuck in that monster rut! amazing vid 5/5

  • ol' clydes ravine.. bad place to get hung up! check out my barnwell video..

  • That looks like a fun place!!!

  • hell ya.. who wants to spend 100 bucks on one out of a magazine when you cuold just throw a towel on it

  • What is the towel for

  • It's to "catch" the cable if it breaks. It just dampens the energy of the cable to keep it from snapping around and killing things. It's winch safety made simple, cheap, easy, and it works.

  • Great video/excellent extraction! This is what wheelings' all about.

  • I was there back in April and I saw a toyota rip his mirror off and dent his bed trying to get through it! A little too much body damage potential for me! Maybe once I get my extra wide sliders put on my jeep, then I might try it!

    P.S. Nice video!

  • The truck ran fine after it was extracted. The passenger side CV was busted, but he fixed it on the spot and drove out and wheeled the rest of the weekend. The body wasn't damage too bad. The only place that touched the ground was the front fender, and it just got slightly dented and scrapped up.

  • Wow, that's awesome. Excellent job!

  • nice work

  • So what was the aftermath? Was he able to start it up? BTW- Awesome recovery

  • Christ. Excellent extract. Nice to see people who know what they are doing

  • clydes has gotten really bad. Three years ago i did it in a nearly stock mid 80's s10 blazer, now a lot of built rigs wont tackle it.

  • see my video , its a x terra with a warn 95000,and a modified front

  • Yep, This is Clyde's Ravine(trail) in the Barnwell Mountain TMTC in Gilmer, TX.

  • is this in gilmer tx at TMTC i think i got stuck going up the gully it was pretty nasty

  • very nice recovery

  • also - there was very little damage to the vehicle considering. Just a flattened front fender behind the headlight and a little damage on the rear fender.

  • This extraction went very well. It helped tremendously that there were plenty of snatch blocks, tree saver straps etc available in our well equipped little club ;)

The extractee couldn't help much because he blew a half shaft and a brake line during the first less sophisticated recovery attempt - so it was ALL winch work.
