Hello, Augie here. I have a '85 international that will be going to my 10 acre parcel in the high Desert in Montello Nevada. I have a camp trailer there now but I want the bus to be my home away from home. May I ask if you are a member of Skoolie.com For there is a wealth of information there and good people there to help with many questions one might have with their School Bus Conversion. Good work going on with your conversion, And I like the music too..
wow, i have always wanted to do this so much but i don't think i could do it as good as you :) , you made that buss look like a high class RV!. running water heater, WOOD STOVE!
alrighty, well the reservoir was just one of many ideas.
Harbor freight tool stores carry this pretty nifty $250 (sometimes cheaper on sale) solar setup @ 45w and you could rig 3-4 of these in series and 3-4 deep cycle batteries with an AC converter...all together for around $1k and have enough juice to run all night.. The investment would save you that much or more within a year.
Just one of the $250 setups and a single battery is enough for lights and later you can upgrade piece by piece
I was thinking, if you put the water tank up high you can gravity feed it instead of wasting power on pumping it...
2 tubes of 3 inch pvc capped on both ends running the length of the roof should make a nice reservoir to hold plenty of water and would be in an ideal spot for gravity feed and maybe collect some heat from the sun for warm showers.
just a brainstorm idea... let me know if you like the idea I have "blueprints" in my head and plenty more sufficient space saving ideas... ya dig?
As far as I know you dont need a C.D.L to drive it. If the Bus is CONVERTED TO A PERSONAL motor home. I have a CDL with Bus indorsement I have had it for a long time. I insured it with GMAC they do RV conversions. It was cheap like 500 for the year.
I will put in a shower and bath by taking out one of the closets this winter. I have a porta potty in the Back of the Bus now for treaveling. But every where I stay or part i have tiolets and showers most of the time, Thanks for the coment though. And watching my videos. Wayme L.
One other thing, having my own land, water well and school bus and also the whole wind gen, solar thing going on one can get the sense of Freedom.

Seems like a waste of space.... Our bus we made two rooms with 4 bunks per room in the back, and then a shower and a toilet, and then the rest!

i am actually looking into a conversion project like this one, how did you go about registering and what type of license do you need to drive it?

This is a great project! I love how you've been ingenious to get the bus into a usable state so quickly too.
