Came here to listen to my girl Irene but now I'm just desperate to know all the movies that these movies were up against!!! Wow. I know about The Wizard of Oz though; a lot of these movies I absolutely love, especially Giant.

-Just for your info, the most represented year was 1939 with 4 films: The Wizard of Oz, Stagecoach, Ninotchka, and Mr. Smith... (All lost to Gone With the Wind)

-winningest loser? Cabaret, winning 8 Oscars, but losing Best Picture to The Godfather

-biggest loser? The Turning Point, which was nominated for 11 Oscars, lost them all, and didn't even get a nod in this tribute! I can't speak for it's quality though, I've never seen it.
