All you have to do is drag everything from the modloader.zip and the OptiFine_1.1_HD_MT_D.zip into your minecraft.jar. Then delete META-INF and it will work perfectly. If it doesnt YOU MISSED SOMETHING D:< Ive been doing this for like almost every optifine versions. And make sure you are using the right version c:

to fix black screen:delete .minecraft ->minecraft. net ->browser game ->it installs ->re install ur mods ->eat some pie ->use the washroom->play minecraft

ALSO BE SURE TO TAKE YOUR WORLDS IN SAVES AND DRAG THEM TO THE DESKTOP AND DRAG OUT UR TEXTURE PACKS AS WELL

@XeantX you dont even need to have modloader to put optifine in. all i did was drag the .class files from the opti-fine zip file to the minecraft.jar file (you need winrar to open the minecraft.jar file.) easy as that

POBLEM SOLVED ! : Dragging the files.

If you can't drag the files into the .minecraft>bin, you maybe just forgot to 7zip/winrar the modloader or the optifine file.

I made this mistake and I am sure there are some one out there having the same problem // glad to help

Follow these steps to prevent a possible "Black Screen" problem when installing"

1.Temporarily revert back to the Default Texture Pack.

2.Uninstall the HD Textures, HD Fonts, and Better Grass mods from the MCPatcher. These functions are included in OptiFine.

3.Set Graphics to Fancy

4.Install OptiFine and test with the Default Texture Pack to make sure everything is working.

5.Select your previous texture pack and graphics settings

6.Run Minecraft and enjoy

i downloaded modloader the same way i downloaded singeplayerscommand and toomanyitems, deleted the meta-inf file, and dragged the files you dragged into the minecraft winrar and it doesn't give me a black screen, but after the mojang logo it gives me a message that shows the mods i have downloaded, and closes automatically.
