  • This is the song of my childhood. Legit.

  • I grew up listening to Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth, Motorhead, Led Zepplin, Dead Kennedys, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Slayer, Onyx aswell as classical pieces like this. I grew up watching, Disney movies aswell as action movies, Demolition Man, The Terminator, Rambo, I watched on TV my hero Stone Cold Steve Austin kick ass in the WWF, I watched Batman, Superman, Transformers, all that fun stuff that I will show my kids but in due time. Kids find out about sex and everything b4 we even tell em

  • Every piece of classical music I hear it makes wanna watch Three Stooges or Abbott and Costello they use alot of classic songs like this.

  • Tchaikovsky the children dream maestro !!!

  • i think its "you'll love me at once" not look at me could be wrong tho, not seen that film in a while

  • Ja! Es ist fantastisch!

  • amo esta música, llena mi alma de infinita dulzura, me hace bailar, soñar, volar, reir, mi alma está feliz!!!

  • cant see the dislike bar. yay!

  • tra la la la exiting

  • *Dances around the living room*

  • Next November 6, I'm blasting his 4th symphony to show he triumphs even over death!!

  • LALALALALALALALALALALA

  • We played this song at All County concert. It was so amazing! The conductor had us all to sway while we played the main melody (: It was a lot of fun! Thank you Mr Tchaikovsky for bringing so many wonderful musical moments to my life!

  • @Gracieloo531 haha, that was fun, I was there.

  • @sb0006587 haha! wow, small world

  • OMG...I just wanna cry...beautiful T_T

  • I think it's so amazing how Disney put this into their film! It's something they'd never do now. :3

  • Is "Sleeping Beauty Waltz" the original name for this piece, or is it just known by that now?

  • @9mjpk No, that's the actual name. It was written for the ballet of the same name. Hope that helps. :)

  • I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream~

  • is it weird that i want to watch the movie again?

  • Fuck... If I could only remember what Disney movie this was played in, my head wouldn't be so full of questions now, and I would be able to enjoy this music in peace... Can't believe this music is something I just considered to be "part of that movie" back then. Obviously every number by this artist is more of a master piece than any disney movie.

  • @SamiTscherning it was Sleeping Beauty (hence the title)

  • @kac81390 Oh, my bad. The name of the same movie in my native language is WAY different, so I didn't even make the connection.

  • I'm not a Disney fan, but I simply love Tchaikovsky

  • To all Disney haters,

What did you people grow up with?! I think it's great they used this piece it the film, it really upgraded it. It was Sleeping Beauty after all, and she was dancing with the prince. It's a lovely childhood memory and link with this piece of music for someone to make. Or maybe we should just let Katy Perry and her peacock-cock-cock burn into children's brains and Tchaikovsky can die with us.

  • @SwittersKnew "or maybe we should just let Katy perry and her pea-cock-cock...'" LMAO!!!

    i completely agree :)

  • @SwittersKnew True,my friend.I would prefer my daughter to see Sleeping beauty every day of her childhood than to expose her even to one Katy Perry or Lady Gaga song.

  • @SnitchSeeker such a sweet thought. unfortunately we can do nothing to prevent exposure to the world as we know it. Disney movies are classics as is classical music, but as a parent (if you are one which i assume you are) you should know that children must grow up. we can do nothing to halt the flow of time or prevent the development of the new generation. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are a part of the world we live in and make more money than most of us will ever see. your children will eventually

  • @DonnieTsushiro discover the music of the modern age and leave behind the world of Disney animated classics until they have children. I'm no parent myself but I'm 19 and still living with my parent. I too would like to make sure that my children are exposed to wholesome material but i will respect their wishes if they wish to venture beyond mine. sheltering them only makes them resent you or stop developing into those who would serve society. besides, eventually they'll have to grasp reality

  • @DonnieTsushiro and realize that the sweet notions of Disney are but lies which hide the truth of those fairy tales. Sleeping Beauty is simply a retelling of Sun, Moon and Talia in which the princess is awoken not by a kiss but long after she has been raped by a king. even with that in mind, i much prefer the Disney tale especially the music. Please also keep in mind that i am not trying to pick a fight or argument. i am simply stating an opinion and i respect yours and hope you can do the same

  • @DonnieTsushiro I'm also a 20 year old,so I have no kids of my own.But when I have,it would be my job to raise them to have morals.Sheltering them to a Disney world won't help but neighter will exposing them to music about sex from an early age.Every piece of the puzzle will have its time.I will give them Katy Perry's "Peacock" song, when they are mature enough to know what it means, but also understand sex and the responsibility it brings.I completely understand your view.

  • @SnitchSeeker Do your kids a favor and introduce them to Hayao Miyazaki's fantastic films ;). Really though, I see no reason why today's pop music has to be a 'rite of passage'. Sheltering them is one thing, but getting them into what I see as a shallow, repetitive music industry is doing kids no good. Let them know what it is for sure, but I prefer to expose them to mature/adult media with actual substance and important thematic messages. Just my 2 cents

  • pelle d'oca *_*

  • I would like to say that I think it's a good thing when pop culture (ie Disney, etc) burns classical music moments in our brains, it adapts it to new things and keeps it from becoming antiquated. It's up to the audience to go seek out the source if a piece of classical music inspires you outside of its normal setting!

  • @moonblossom15 Or...if Disney has become annoying, then it simply ruins the classical piece for us...but I understand your point of view.

  • So chi sei, vicino al mio cuor ogn'or sei tu | So chi sei, di tutti i miei sogni il dolce oggetto sei tu | Anche se nei sogni è tutta illusione e nulla più | Il mio cuore sa che nella realtà | Da me tu verrai e che mi amerai ancor di più. <3

  • @mars2030earth

it's a shame, but what can you expect from people with 200 years of history

стыдно, но что можно ожидать от народа с 200-летней историей

    @All_Americans

look on wikipedia about Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, if someone is associated only with the music by Disney

  • @superborg22 This American happens to love Tchaikovsky's compositions, and has since she was very young. Not all of us are ignorant. And assuming yourself less ignorant simply because your country has centuries more history is just as ignorant as people assuming the music is only from the movie.

  • @superborg22 There happen to be many Americans who are intelligent and actually study and learn things. We're not all ignorant couch potatoes who sit around watching things we wish we could do; some of us actually go out and do those things... -.-

  • idioti ameri odt disneya uznali tshaikovskogo?1 o O deistvitelno ne gramatniy tupoi otstaliy narod ne kulturi ne tsherta u nih netu!

  • Thumbs Up If This Helps You Write! (:

  • All I can see is Disney--man am I brainwashed. Well maybe that is not such a bad thing.

  • @cellofingers Nah. Classic Disney is fantastic. Absolutely shameful that they drifted away with what Walt had planned... They were doing great up until this new crap.

  • This man was a musical Genius!

  • cela me rappelle ma petite enfance de princesse <3

  • they used this in George Pal's "The Sky Princess"!

  • I love this melody, cose it make's me go to my fantasy world... Were I'am an one water drop and I'm just floting down to earth from the heaven and I'm dancing in the air straight to the sea...

  • @FemmeFatalje85 Meth will also take you to that fantasy world

  • whoah. Just made the connection of why this song sounds familiar. pivotal moment in my life just happened.

  • listening to this to get hyped for performing sleeping beauty tonight<3

  • Why is this melody sooo damn infectious? It's a hazard for me to listen to it before I start composing because then everything I write starts sounding like Sleeping Beauty. I know, I know...just don't listen to it before I compose. Grrrrrr....

  • Cannon Films -yes, the one with Chuck Norris- did a lovely version of this story and used the waltz for the scene where the fairies are blessing the little princess. I think they also used it for her waking up scene. No, it didn't star Chuck Norris. LOL

  • aw shucks disney can be a jerk but im glad he used the theme in sleeping beauty. he actually put together a very artistic and beautiful film, even if it hs a simplistic (cliched?) princess theme.

  • @cinnamontoasters1 At least, they didn't use Rockabye Baby.

  • Sisi emperatriz

  • Disney didn't ruin anything. It's probably impossible to "ruin" Tchaikovsky. Anyway, Disney is amazing.

  • thank god I don't know the lyrics! haha

  • Right now, I'm reading "Rose in Bloom" by Louisa May Alcott, and this is perfect ballroom music for it. I can just imagine Rose and Mac dancing, or for Mac, blundering through the ball, talking about the cure for lovesickness. Ah~

  • Disney ruined this beautiful ballet for everyone!!!!

  • @LilyMoth12 i would say that Disney tought us to good music...

if it wasn't sleeping beuaty i doubt if anyone of us would know about Tchaikovsky !!!

  • @1993helengirl I don't know about that. Disney either ruins something or makes it better. In my opinion everyone forgot about The Sleeping Beauty as a Ballet! I have friends who don't know who Tchaikovsky is! I know Tchaikovsky from taking 12 years of Ballet and still continuing with my 13 years of piano.

  • @LilyMoth12 yes....you...! but other ppl wouldn't know about Tchaikovsky if it wasn't Disney...so i am thankful i know him now....and i don't gine much attention where i learned about him from..!!

  • THAT SNEAKY DISNEY

  • @WordsofWisdom2010 hahahah u gotta dirty way of thinking...but i guess ur kinda right

  • Today, on November 6, a tragic event happened. Tchaikovsky passed away. If you read this put a like if you took a moment of silence for this great composer.

  • @ILOVECLASSICALify November 6 is my birthday D:

  • @ILOVECLASSICALify How can I take a moment of silence when there is Tchaikovsky to listen to?

  • @ILOVECLASSICALify He died on Nov. 6th? That's my b-day, thx for info :)

  • Wow, beautiful, I want this at the reception for my wedding.

  • They play this in heaven every day.

  • this reminds me of the disney movie Sleeping Beauty <3, looove it, a beautiful peice

  • The world would be a much better place if all children were exposed to the great classical composers.

  • I wish there was an evening Ball every weekend or every two weeks, free and open to everyone-no matter what race, age, gender or social status, so that people would just come and waltz around under the sound of the many great classical pieces that exist. :)

And bless the creators of these pieces.Their work lives on in our minds and hearts!

  • Reminds me of my boyfriend... this is his favorite song.

Watlz of the Flowers is my favorite.

    Tchaikovsky is the man.

  • @meba7531 Your boyfriend is a lucky man. There are not many women around here that have a spot for classical =D

  • I'm falling in love with Tchaikovsky and he was a homo so it's okay.

I have listened to 1000s of pieces by all the greats and I like about 5-10 of each but 20+ of Tchaikovsky.

  • love it

  • Isn't this piece played on merry-go-round

  • I just love classical music. This is my favorite piece.

  • i know you ive walked with you............oops sorry wrong version

  • This makes me think of space much more than the Blue Danube does.

  • The orchestra I'm in is playing this, it's soooo fun!!

  • Sigmund Freud looked as ...

  • 2?

  • Only idiots...

  • I am glad that i discovered Tchaikovsky in my life, thanks to technology

  • Music like this just makes me happy. Why cant music today be like this?

  • tchaikovsky=amazing composer

  • This is such a beautiful score

Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty really captured the essence of this original piece

  • well... a variant of the original story. The Grimm variant adds the prince at the end for the first time.

  • the brother's grimm wrote the original sleeping beauty story. Sleeping Beauty was called, "Briar Rose" a long time ago.

  • @Leitilumo well actually Charles Perrault wrote it first in the 1697 and she was only named sleeping beauty in his tale. The brothers Grimm rewrote it in the 19th century and called her Briar rose. Perrault also wrote Cinderella first, Grimms version of Cinderella is quite different for example there is no fairy godmother in the brothers Grimm version of the story. Most fairy tale books use Perraults version of those stories.

  • @Leitilumo Oh and Charles Perrault also wrote little red riding hood first. The brothers Grimm wrote Snow White, Rapunzel, Thumbelina and Hansel and Gretl first in the 19th century. But Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and little red riding hood were first written by Charles Perrault.

  • @gracie164 Well actually Giambattista Basile wrote Cinderella in the 1634. He was a Neopolitan soldier and government official, and wrote Lo cunto de li cunti (The Story of Stories), or Pentamerone. It featured the tale of Cenerentola (Cinderella in Italian), which features a wicked step mother and step sisters, magical transformations, a missing slipper, and a hunt by a king for the owner of the slipper. Perrault only developed the plot.

  • @matthiaursini Version of Cinderella, though not called that, have been around since Ancient China, actually. =D

  • @UnlabledLabler Ancient Egyptians had a "Cinderella", the Philippines had one too but there's no evidence that the Eu authors knew the tales. Another important medieval version is in the so called Arabian Nights (known in Eu since the 15th cen) where a younger brother is poisoned by his elder brothers.Nevertheless Giambattista Basile is considered the author of the western Cinderella He was the first to imagine a step mother, magical transformations performed by a fairy et cetera et cetera

  • @Leitilumo Sorry I correct myself, thumbelina was written by Hans Christan Andersen.

  • ~~I would like to dance it on my wedding!!! <3

  • does anyone else start smiling like an idiot when this plays?

  • @12345blondie yep : ]

  • @12345blondie I DO!!! I want to dance to this with my future potential

girl friend/wife in the future...(BLUSHES THINKING ABOUT HER)

(Starts getting teary eyed thinking about it) (especially at the parts

where Disney had the words to the song) Not to mention I get that

part of the waltz stuck in my head FOR-EV-ER! Man! Look at how

passionate I've become! (My future roommate and I are both trying

to win her over) (we both like her) (its all good fun, but I dont wanna lose!)

  • @12345blondie haha. I smile like an idiot all the time for some reason... but this song accentuates that idiocy. I'm even giggling to myself right now. =)

  • @nothing980454 maybe it's the pot.... ;o)

  • @12345blondie I've got idiot written all over me!
