I did the whole stage without losing life and I got it at the top of the boss area

HOWEVER!

You don't need the bosses defeated to perform Hadouken with a Game Genie's help :)

After some testing with an emulator and game genie codes I discovered 2 things:

1) 32 Health bars are required to perform Hadouken therefore implying all 8 Heart Tanks are necessary.

2) Performing Hadouken with no upgrades produces a lack of sprite animation and makes X vanish while performing Hadouken, thus implying the upgrades are necessary.

With these facts in mind it is safe to say the Sub-Tanks are definitely not necessary but all 8 weapons are as Hadouken would make bosses too easy.

@MagicDolphin93 Not true, unless you fall from the cart when you get hit. Then you won't reach the ledge. Apart from it, just complete armor/all upgrades, and doing it 4 times.

this game... it was the first good game i ever played. i was like 5 or 6 years old and had this for PC! (yes thats correct, they sold this game on a cd and i played it on windows 3.1 ( i think)). I remember my first time defeating a boss. It was storm eagle.. but when i killed him my first time I also died simultaneously! Still got the tornado weapon ;)

I remember when I had a snes and a friend told me to get the hadouken capsule you should go through the stage as quickly as possible, without losing energy and without using any special weapon... I've always done that and never got, I thought I might have going very slowly, although I crossed the stage in less than a minute, if I remember correctly...

And today, out of curiosity a decade later, I see how easy it is ...

@jedispy Are you positive you have all the heart tanks? They're the most commonly missed thing. You should have 4 notches more health than your maximum weapon energy when you do.

In the sequel Megaman X2 he can have the hidden Shoryuken, performed the same way as in the SF II game and can only be used at a full health bar. Someday Capcom will probably allow Megaman to perform Akuma's raging demon. Ha ha ha!

i hate how everyone say 8bit is better or 16 bit is better. STFU already it wasnt the graphics that made the game better. It was the fucking gameplay. MMX7 was bad cuz they didnt do well in the 3D GAMEPLAY. Megaman 64 was an awesome 3D game because its gameplay was good not bad. megaman 9 could have 16bit graphics and same gameplay people would still love it.

Two intresting things though: It seems i can only use the hadouken a limmited number of times, especially the last stage after the fourth shot it doesnt work anymore.

You can grab the energy capsule 4 times and not have all the heart tanks..etc. And then when you finally get all the heart tanks and energy tanks, the next time you do it, the capsule will be right there.
