this song makes me think about how f*cked up this world is.... just think about all the people that die from hunger or get killed in wars..... and in the rich countries our biggest problem is that we don't have the newest gaming console or cellphone...... it makes me so sad because i now realise that i am a part of this system aswell.... i used to complain because i can't afford nike shoes or a new computer.... but well.. beautiful song.. i wish that one day i can go to afrika and see my roots
i love this man, he got a very simple style that goes straight to the heart. “As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.”
Your videos are sooo beautiful my friend. This song that I love so much together with the beauty of the landscapes of the deserts.... a bath for my soul. Thank you!
It has always been hard to understand pain... This song is perfect for my people, in Colombia, with African ancesters and terrible challenges in front of them.
This is a reminder warning to ''Auma'', a Luo tribal ferminene name or ''yaye nyithi'ndo'gi'' which means children to bring ''dhok'' cattles back home. He's passing a proverbial message '' as dayz of a man he witheres like a flower'', we are all flowers at some point in life. Therefore whatever you do, do it with all your might coz our youth/beauty/strength/energy.....e.t.c might not be there 2moro.''Koth biro'' means 2moro will rain in our live's with sickness/aging/death.....e.t.c, beware
orchard80 you are right this song is done in Luo language. and you have made the right translation. except the Name Ouma isn't right He says oooma thats archaic for omera... you know. so in short he sings omaa instead of omera. what do you think?
@ndedas. You have brought up a good point regarding the use of the term "ooma". It is also important that we know the background of who uses the term. If Ayub Ogada has some influence from Southern Nyanza, this term is applicable to him. I have found that the term more often used by Luos from Southern Nyanza and Tanzania.
@orchard80 Great tranlation! The lyrics: Aah, ayee, ayee Ouma ( Male Luo's name) buwinjya (do you(plural) hear me) koth biro (the rain is coming) kele uru dhok e dala (bring the livestock back to the home stead) ... yaye nyithindo gi (yaye(expression expressing exasperation) these children) (kukuru) utimoru nade (why are you behaving this way) koth biro (the rain is coming) kele uru gok e dala(bring the cattle back to the homestead) To yaye nithindo gi (and these children) (same as above)
yes, shortly after posting my comment I realized it was not a kora. I own & play kora. Would very much like to play nyatiti but cannot find one for sale. any advice?
@tiad This song was first sung in the end of 70s by The Band Called Black Savage which Ayub Ogada was a member together with late Gordon Omide and Nick Dread.they used to perform at the Nairobi Campus before joining the African Heritage.Mosgi Trubadur

Hi, your lyrics come pretty close, but as a native speaker of the language, below are the proper lyrics with the translation:
Hah
Hahye hahye aye hahye ...
Ouma (common name for a Luo man)
kuwinjya (if you hear me)
Koth biro (the rain is coming)
kele uru gok e dala (bring the livestock back to the home stead)
(this is repeated through out the song)
*Your images are very lovely and well done!
Peace

this is a rough translation. the song is to a british comedian from comic relief:
Lenny can you hear me? ,
feed your wife less
and build us a well with the money you saved
Ahh Ayeee Aaaa ayee
without our plight you wouldn't have a career on tv send some of the money you earn out here to mee!!
