The reason it's "not that bad" is because you can't OD (and die from it). But whether it's toxic or not isn't relevant. I'm not against it, I just want people to know it's not less of a deal just because it's not as toxic or addictive as alocohol, pot or heroin. No, it's not. It depends on the person. And some drugs, like alcohol and heroin, are more dangerous than others. Hallucinogens and cannabis are extremely safe and certainly aren't addictive. Look at erowid (dot) org and read. Learn some pharmacology. Realize how harmful a lot of legal prescription shit is. The drug war is a giant scam.

I think you shouldn't let 'someone' convince you to do a drug, especially one with hallucinogenic properties. I think drugs like acid or even shrooms should really be done in order to gain perspective. LSD was used in the 50's to treat people with schizophrenia by making patients look into their own mind from an outsider's view, self realization. I'm all in favor of having a good time, don't get me wrong. i guess I'm saying is don't be a sheep, there are enough already

one of my friends in HS took a very high dosage of shrooms- about 1/4oz- $100 worth at the time. he was sitting crouched on my bed, thinking it was a large ship, and that the carpet around it was the high seas. thinking he was sinking, he dove head first into my floor, breaking his collarbone (lucky- he could have easily broken his neck).

What happened to your friend is unfortunate and your right, it could have been even worse but I think the lesson here is simply don't take 7 grams of fucking shrooms. If you want to try psychedelics start with shrooms but take like 2 grams. It helps a lot that you have done your reading so I'm sure you will trip safely but you can never really be prepared for how the trip will make you feel. But starting with a low dose will help the transition from reality to  the land of patterned goo!

yea that is the better idea, but this friend never really lived in moderation. he took the first 3.5 grams and claimed to not have felt the desired effects so ingested another whole bag. needless to say it kicked in eventually. its fortunate that instead of having a paralyzed moron of a friend who was a complete buffoon and maybe the only person in history to OD on shrooms, i just have a funny drug story to tell.
