Just watched the full movie on here and enjoyed it! Heard it was a real turkey, so it was a pleasant surprise that it was ok....but yes, it could have been a great movie, with a bit more direction. Stephane Audran though!!! OMG....worth it just to watch her beauty !
@..Hello, yes,I would like to know the same.Any way,I watched this movie 30 years ago,in 1980,..Oh my GOD!!, I can't beleive it,but, like you,I'd like to know the name of that song.Greetings
@OLY47 The name of the song is "The Old-Fashioned Way". I liked it a lot. And I liked this movie a lot, much more than the 1966 version, which despite the cool setting was kind of dull. This version was so much like a dream.
This is the first adaptation of the book I saw and I hated all the changes. Especially, for some reason, Oliver Reed's character was named Hugh Lombard. Bugged me to no end. Also, making Emily Brent an actress, among other things. It was just jarringly different.
Anyone who says the book is rubbish or annoying they should read it first. It contains one of the most devilish plots I've ever read in any crime novels. It's riveting from the start and very effectively nails you to the chair at the final twist.
Then there were none was the first Agatha Christie book I read. It will baffle you till the end. Oh and hint if you haven't read the book. The crimes that the speaker talks about is murder either they did it (which you don't know till later) or they were suspected of it.
I don't like, however, how they change some of the crimes. Mr. Owen has a reason for disposing of the others in the order he does; the changes to the crimes interfere with that.
@tonywrestles2 Well i just read the book I don't know what their crimes are in this but I agree with changing the crimes it could interfere since the order is very important. I am not gonna say how because that's a spoiler for others whom have not seen or read this yet.
OMG, This movie was shot in a hotel (formerly called "Shah Abbas Hotel" now is called "Abbasi Hotel") in Esfahan, Iran. I have sat on those red chairs and walked down those stairs several times in my life and I didn't know this movie was shot in there!
Oliver Reed likely wore the turtleneck sweater during filming to cover a nearly lethal stab wound to the neck he experienced during filming of "The Three Musketeers: The Queens Diamonds" in December 1973. (imdb.org)
I always loved the haunting ending theme heard at 1:30 and 2:04. I would gladly fork over for the soundtrack, if it existed. Sort of has a Herb Alpert meets Paul Mauriat sound.
aaaah the book scared me so much while i was reading it! i hoped there would be a movie...but i think it would be great if they remade it. this looks okay lol, i suppose, but i reckon a new one with better production could be fantastic! the plot is so great, it deserves a film to do it justice.
I had been searching for this film as I always remember watching it as a child almost thirty years ago.
Well, I just managed to get it on DVD this week and was amazed at how awful the production was.
Despite the fantastic cast, the script seemed really weak. And with a running time of only one & half hours, it seemed very rushed. It really needed more pacing in order to build up the tension.
@DidaDragan Amen to that. Despite it's shoddy production there is something quite charming about this film. But as a novel, it has never been adapted that well despite numerous attempts. It's a shame becuase I think it would really suit adaptation to the screen.
This was pretty much the same script as the 60s version--which was a huge mistake, because the writer didn't take into account the changes the different location (the middle of a desert as opposed to a mountaintop) would require. Anyone knowing which voice is Gert Froebe's real one?
Is it the one in this film, or the one in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and 'Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines'?
They sound too different. I think one of them is a fake voice.
hugh0221 1 year ago
@hugh0221
According to IMDB, Gert Frobe, Alberto De Mendoza and Adolfo Celi were all dubbed in this film by the same voice actor !
So I guess Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is his real voice.
