  • what lens did you have on that 7000????

  • Nice video, plz help me decide b/n d5100 and t3i, heard d5100 has better img quality at high iso and T3i has better image quality in low iso. If I have to choose one of them for overall better image quality, which one should I go for?

  • Does the MB-D11 have a tripod mount underneath or any where?

  • @VutheMonk yes it does.

  • Allen's is right near me, I love it. I just bought a Rokinon 8mm fisheye ( for filming skateboarding ). I'd love to work at Allen's when I get older lol.

  • Will this work for any other camera, like the D5000??

  • Hey! do you know where warminster is? My grandma lives there and I'm going this weekend. Wondering if you were close.

  • should i buy this or a tripod

  • fro also knows control

  • I would get suspended if i wore that shirt to school. :(

  • where can i get battery grip?

  • I hate this. 300$ is too much money for me to want to spend, but I also don't want to risk getting some no-name brand one for 70$ off ebay because if it breaks I'm skrewed. But I don't want to use my d7000 without a battery grip!

  • way too expensive for a grip..359,000 won(300$) here in south korea..so i both the third party instead,,70,000won or around 65 $..

  • Fro Knows Photooo FAGGOT voice!

  • @DRCKRS324 Yeah, but it sounds cool :) It's also catchy :)

  • I like how Rob always waving his hand to say hi in the background

  • Typical adolescent male sexual humor and silliness. Totally expected as always.

  • brandon answer the question!

does the male goes to the female?

  • dose it make the frame rate faster?

  • @FakeSmileClown No, that's only for the pro cameras :)

  • up, up, down, down, left, right , left, right, B, A, B, A, select start. somebody played a lot of CONTRA back in the day. memories LOL

  • @SigfredoRosarioOtero omg, i still remember that code!

  • Is it normal if I don't hear that "beep" when it focuses?

  • @Gen035 It's a setting in your menu, you can have it on or off at all times

  • @Gen035

You can set it in the menus, I believe that it's automatically turned off out of the box.

  • Why did they make this to only hold one battery?

  • @spearmintmonkey because unlike earlier model grips this allows the battery in the camera to stay in there instead of having two in the grip and the grip going all the way in the battery chamber. so you're still holding 2 batteries all up

  • the male goes into the female, right brandon?

  • I like nikon, one thing that puts me off IMO half their shit is overpriced.

  • "Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A Select Start...." LOL!

  • How do you tell the camera to use the battery i the grip first?

  • @PhotosPassionYou You can set which battery to be used first in the menu :)

  • hei jAred..the rubber that you pull out from the bottom of the camera can be placed at the grip..so that the rubber won't lost...

  • I'm one of those weird thumb shooters when it comes to portrait shots. lol. Teacher showed it to me, vastly helps the steadiness. Still...I'm gonna get the vertical grip when I get my D7000 :)

Hey Jared--you ever one of those customers interrupt you because they recognize you ;)

  • any way to get the same Tshirt?!

  • @FreeLibyaFeb17th2011 yea that shirt is for sale in the fro store.

  • @JaredPolin Thanks Jared, what size are you wearing? just to know what size I should order!

  • Brandon`s got LEGO hair :D

  • Also, this grip is a frakking FAILURE! Previous Nikon grips allowed you to place BOTH batteries inside of it, side-by-side. On this craptastic bit of arse-gravy...you have one in the camera and one in the grip? IDIOTIC! Meaning you must remove the grip before you can put two fresh batteries in during a long event? YOU SUCK, Nikon!

  • @eggbertsmith I would say it is a trade off. The grip would have to be bigger to house two batteries...... I think the compact design is a nice compromise. I have a knock off grip on my D3000 and it is huge compared to this grip.

  • What's with the kid sportin the ever-so-stylish "young son of Satan, who will grow up to battle on the side of evil, from a 1970's movie" style hair in the corner?

  • up up down down left right a b a.... mortal kombat cheat! awesome bud! and great review

  • @playedthatgame was it for Mortal Kombat as well? I know it worked for Contra! Who didn't love Contra back in the days!?!

  • Is this camera any good for sports pictures and videos? Such as BMX and Paintball? Also, how much is the vertical grip???

  • Is this camera any good for sports pictures and videos? Such as BMX and Paintball?

  • I like shooting the "awkward way", it actually feels natural to me.

  • I like shooting the "awkward way", it actually feels more natural to me.

  • is it heavy?

  • Hey, Should i buy the Sb-700 or the MB D11 Multi Power Battery Pack

  • It does NOT improves fps. Even with 6 AA.

  • Dude you're awesome

    Just sayin.

and I almost fell of my chair when you cited the konami code :D

  • Hey Jared, do you think the battery grip will increase the buffer rate when shooting raw?

  • that's what she said

  • I was told that if you put a spoon full of crack mixed with some speed in the grips tray instead of using the spare battery you could get 12-18 fps (depending on the quality of the speed)

  • Got this with my D7000, and it makes a HUGE diffrence! Worth every penny

  • @bimse111 did you sniff it too? lol : )

  • @2point6x4 hahaha :D Actally i did :P After watching Jareds video's, i couldt help myself ;)

  • @bimse111 yeah I think most People do sniff new products including me because we like that new product smell smell.

  • Lmao..."Right Brandon...that's the way it works"

  • Hi, whats the grips shutter release button like, same as the camera? I only ask as my old MB-D80 was a bit sensitive compared to my D90 body. Cheerz

    Ps love the hair :-)

  • Hey Jared, does this improves the 6 fps to 7 fps??

  • WASSUP JARED I JUST PURCHASED THE NIKON D7000 N I AM KIND OFF STUCK GETTING AROUND THE CAMERA ANY WAY YOU CAN HELP ME OUT

  • More like $30 on amazon

  • will that work with my D3100?

  • @djpengs no...there's no battery grip available on the nikon d3100...

  • Holy fuck 250.

I could buy 1/8th of a 24mm 1.4 with that. I think they should make a non magnesium alloy version for people who wont use it as often for less than half the cost.

  • there is a small rubber piece on the bottom of the grip on the right side. It seems like it flaps at times. Does that have anything to do with the grip you are mentioning or where did that come from? magnesium body and then a small rubber peice that catches somtime on stuff, what is that thing?

  • @merrittixtapa79 that is a sigma 17-50 os

  • @merrittixtapa79 u may have a defective grip, i just bought mine and nothing flaps on the bottom... btw just bought the 1.8G 50mm fucking buttah...

  • @iFloridaAllStar yea the 1.8G is friggin awesome!

  • @merrittixtapa79 I assume you mean the flap that resides on the bottom right side of the grip at the front of the camera. That would be the flap for the power connector.

  • @merrittixtapa79 That piece of rubber on the bottom of the D7000's grip and on the battery cover of the MB-D11? It's where you let the wire through when you attach the AC adapter for the camera. Unlike on the previous cameras where you plug the AC adapter (you need to buy it) on the side of the camera, this one needs another adapter (that you have to buy too) that goes into the battery compartment. It sucks.

  • Thanks for the hands on... MB-D11 is so expensive for what it does.. and let alone $250 plus $50 for the battery?

  • Lol, I think it smells like "buy me!"

  • it has a joystick for the konami code? i got to have one of those.

  • props for the konami code reference

  • I would probably buy a grip, by my main issue is it only holds 2 batteries total. If it acted as a third battery itself (the part that slips into the battery port), and could contain 3 batteries worth, then I would probably look at it more seriously.

  • So the grip doesn't include the extra battery?

  • @hashboogie that is correct.

  • I actually know a guy who has a battery grip on his 5D Mark II but doesn't use it!!!

He still holds the camera with the right hand on top when shooting vertically.

He says he only has the grip coz it looks cool. What a maroon.

  • Hahahaha, Konami code:)

  • Nikon is pronounced with a "Knee". So it should be closer to 'knee-kon".

You just sound so much more professional saying 'knee-kon'.

Snifff test: 'Knee-kon' smells fresh and correct...it smells like young, protected whales breaching...8-)

  • Jared, what lens did you have on there 24-70mm? just curious. you right you look totally more professional with the grip.

  • is that thing also for the nikond3100 ???? answers please !!!! :)

  • @btm14101997 No, D3100 doesn't have pins for battery grip. There is grips for D3100, but there isn't button in them...

  • The grip is nice, but it is way overpriced. Just not worth 300 dollars to make it do easier vertical shots, I rather put 300 dollars on a lens.

  • Jared. does it come with a battery or is that added to the price?

  • You state that when using AA batteries it will chew through them in no time, but how many AA batteries fit in the holder??

I have the MB-D10 for my D700 (using 8 rechargeable Eneloop AA batteries), and only in rare circumstances have to use the internal battery.

  • Nikon MB-D11 is waaaaay overpriced

  • Your right about not wanting to go without a grip once you have one. I love my MB-D10 on my D300.

  • up up down down ab ab select start can you say "contra" gradius wings" you crack me up jared straight comedy love your vid's man.

  • like your little singing @ the beginning lol

  • Jared!! I love your videos so much. They have really have helped learn about photography tremendously. I switched over to RAW and I'm never going back.

I was wondering what you think would be a better investment, buying a new D700 or used D3. I have found a couple D3's on ebay for the same prise as a new D700.

    Thanks!!

  • Mr. Jared, the MB-D11 has a slot to put the rubber cover that came on the camera, so you don't misplace it.

  • Sweet now my camera can have 30 lives.

  • rumour has it that the d300s replacement will have an integrated vert. grip .. basically, the d7000 has taken the place of the d300s series at a lower price

  • You missed out a point (sort of) it makes you look like you have a D3s, because come on who doesn't want their camera to look like it, eh?

  • That IS what she said!! haha

  • Yay i got my 3 "I shoot raw" t-shirts today=) Im from Sweden so i took about a week but i couldnt be happier=) And the Fro pick, unfortenetly the text on the pick did come off way too easaly.

  • loved the kyle cease reference!

  • I got the MB-D11 a few weeks ago. I love it. Jared's right, it's one of those things where you don't realize how nice it is until you get it and then won't be able to remember how you shot without it.

  • I'm disappointed that the MB-D11 doesn't take EN-EL4a batteries like the MB-D10, considering that both grips are the same price and an EN-EL4a battery could clearly fit inside the MB-D11.

  • Grips are a must for small cameras like d3xxx and rebels.

  • WONDER WHY NO EXTRA FPS WITH THIS GRIP?

  • @asapsteve because they save that for the higher end cameras and probably want to have a difference between them.

  • @JaredPolin i think if you use AA alkalines you get 8.5 fps

but that's not worth it, i think

  • @JaredPolin / 7fps with battery grip!!!! It's true, but with not more lens.; for example Sigma 50/1.4 HSM 7fps

  • @JaredPolin can u give an example of a camera/grip where this is the case? tnx

  • "once you go to a bigger size body you are not going to go back to anything else" - yes, unless you have to hike up a 10000ft mountain then you'll be wishing to have something as small as d40 :)

  • you look more professional??? com' on !! who cares that kind of s... !!

  • @jzantana He did save that for the end - it's just a little thing, not the reason to buy it.

Though honestly, looking more professional can make your life as a photog much easier. So I do care about it.

  • @AkiraMusic well, from the business point of view.. I agree it might work as a marketing tool... initially ;-)

  • how about for D3100. any grip?

  • Hahahahaha......

    @ 01:51 - up,up,down,down,B,A,B,A,select,start......

That's the "code" for Super Contra on 99 lives.....

    Good one the JP.

  • Great vid!! The grip really takes the d7000 to a whole new level and just makes the camera flow in the hands much better.... Well worth the $250 I spent on it and if anyone is on the fence about getting one I would just go for it, you'll love it!!

  • Jared I have a question.

I just bought a D3100 and i'm looking to get new "Glass" is there a specific brand or brands that would work with it? I looked around the web and couldn't find anything

    Thank you

  • Harry Potter works there?

  • you stick it on once and wont ever take it off.

  • @Madzark sigma 17-50 2.8 os

  • Thumbs of for Konami cheat code!

    This just made my day

  • That dude just waved at me! ^_^

  • why are vertical grips so expensive?

  • @TheAmazingShua Good question

  • @TheAmazingShua honestly not sure but they do have a lot of stuff inside them to make you tick.

  • Will it work for the D3100?

  • @m2c2n doubt it will!

  • @m2c2n nope

  • there also in the great AF on button ;)

  • I don't like the recent Nikon grips, you need to remove the grip every-time both the batteries run-out.

  • Never knew you could just use the joy pad to flick through the fous points always thought you had to go in the menu and do it. On a Canon as well ;)

  • why is there a buttload of chinese videos as "suggestions" ?

  • i dont like how there is a battery in the body, and another in the grip. i like my canon grip where both batts are in the tray. that way you dont have to take it off to charge, but hey, i wouldn't even shoot without grip so whatever works right? :-/

  • @rbphotography8 I don't mind it because the nikon grip goes right on the bottom and you dont have to take off the door or anything to put it on. It takes a few seconds to put it on and off. But yes two batteries in the grip would be nice.

  • How heavy is the MB-D11 ?

  • @IDAlecious not very

  • The rubber grip on the MB-D11 also feels better than the grip on the D7000 itself which feels more plasticy.

  • jared what i was wondering about, are you a full time photographer? ore do you need to have a daytime job???

  • @Thunderhorse01 yes i am.

  • Contra FTW! I have to totally agree with you about not going back to an ungripped body. Just don't like being considered a poser for having a bottom end camera with a grip. Why should the Pro's have better ergonomics. BTW my other half loves the fro.

  • Hi Jared, just a note, there's a spot on the top of the MBD-11 for the rubber strip that you take off the bottom of the D7000 so you don't lose it.

    Great review.

  • @bigbraindog o sweet i didnt even notice.

  • @bigbraindog If it's the same design as the MB-D10 then there will also be a little loop on the white plastic contact cover on the grip. If you put a bit of cord through the loop (similar to a "phone charm") you can attach it to a keyring, bag etc when you take it off to fit the grip to the camera.

  • @Shuttleworth68 Thanks for that tip.

  • Why do you focus with your LEFT eye?

it looks uncomfortable to have the camera all in front of your face.

Is there a good reason for it?

  • @ArneBergsch Some people are left eyed some are right eyed, that's like asking someone why they write with their left hand.

  • @ArneBergsch I am, left eyed thats how I see so thats easiest for me.

  • @JaredPolin Correct! My girlfriend focuses the same :P

  • @JaredPolin I'm a left eyer as well, I thought most people were. I'm right handed though, guess that makes sense does it?

  • @ArneBergsch When focusing with the left eye you don't have to be closing your other eye pulling a weird face face in the process. A quick tip, get an eye piece and a magnifier middlepiece. I have both on D700 and it makes shooting so much more pleasant. Let alone that I don't have to put the camera so close to my face anymore.

  • male goes to female xD

  • not first!

  • hahahaha i was gonna comment.. hey where's the sniff test.. but you covered it! Great vid.. i wanna buy the MB-D11 but i'm low on cash...

  • Brandon should be in more froknowphoto videos... Just saying :D

  • i wish they made a grip for d3100

  • Cool hands on man! I enjoyed it.

  • Thats realy cool :) Would like to Sniff that :D

  • awesome
