  • No, My Taz passed away a few years ago at 16 1/2. Got a new Samoyed now, and another Samoyed puppy on the way!

  • idk about you guys but i think its kinda cute to see that dogs have wheelchairs too bc it makes me feel like we have just one more thing in common with other animals and people should start treating them with the respect they deserve :D

  • is he still alive?!?

  • Those people who dislike that poor sammy, they have no heart.Thumbs up for all samoyed fans!

  • Thats just awsome, I have a 3 year old Sammy and theyre such beautiful loving dogs with wonderful souls.

  • My Sam-sam was 15 years old at the end of his life. He had the same issues with VERY weak hips and achy joints (plus he got diabetes when he was about 10) towards the last year of his life. Had to put him to sleep because he was unable to walk anymore. Wish I has one of these for him. But thanks for making me smile and remind me of the good times my baby brought me. :)

  • You are 1 in a million, quite literally.

  • wow I cant believe your dog is 16...Our first family dog was a Sammy and he only made it to 10 because of a liver disease... We had a lot of trouble with him being first time dog owners. These dogs like most require lots of time & affection. Im happy to see this sammy at such an old age...KEEP GIVING HIM LOVE...GO SAMMY !!

  • He is so cute....:) Check out my samoyed on my channel!

  • I lost my Selkie angel just a couple of weeks ago, she was 15. In her last year she had a weak back end as well, I think she would have loved a wheel chair like this:).

  • His hips were VERY weak and he used to fall to the side and hit the ground. It was so sad. The cart gave him stability, and he couldn't fall and get hurt. He loved it. It made him feel young again : )

  • i dont understand what the wheel thing does she still uses her legs if anything she is pulling more weight?

  • thats almost said... poor puppy. at least he lived a long long life for a sammy. thats long for any dog now i think about it. my last one died at 10.

  • I feel sorry for animals with stuff like this, I don't know if yours seemed really happy but I can't imagine how it feels.

Maybe it's different because it's domesticated but what would happen in the wild to that dog?

  • I've been the proud papa of 5 Sammy's since 1982....wonderful wonderful companions !

  • awh this is so sad. he's so cute.

  • awww i hope my sammie never has to get a wheelchair. he loves to run around and play.

  • what a beautiful doggy!!

  • still alive?

  • omg i nearly cried watching this :( lovely dog ive never had one but im looking to get on in the future maybe, i am so sorry your poor doggie has arthritis problems, my poor golden lab was in pain with his arthritis too and this month 1 year ago we had to let hm go :( , dogs are better than most humans in my opinion i know its harsh but its a reality. dogs are just so precious, their curse is their short life

  • he cant jump can he ? im sure he had/having a happy life

  • I love Sammies.. they are friendly

  • Love it! I have had sammys my whole life. Was he injured somehow???

  • No he was just VERY old and had hip dysplasia (arthritis.) It gave him another year and he was happy.

  • @AnnBethChinchillo I lost one named Flake to hip diysplasia! I know how hard that can be...God bless!

  • @AnnBethChinchillo put a V8 on that badboy :P

  • It's nice too see great pet owners! Sammies are beautiful dogs.

  • 16 year old Samoyed, that's incredible, and looks to be doing just fine.

  • keep going sammy. hip displasia ?

  • Yes with some degenerative changes in his lower spine.

  • awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn

  • They break your heart when they leave you. It's so hard.

  • not bad at all :) I'm sure he knew how much you loved him :)

  • My first samoyed lived to be 13. Unfortunately, she had diabetes and went blind. Our dog had a lot of problems getting up with her hind legs so at that point we put her to sleep. My family just couldn't bare to see her in pain.

    ~RIP Frosty~

  • That dog is older than me. That's amazing.

  • you have a cute pet! is he still alive?

  • It's wonderful to know that you provided everything you could for your dog. Decreased mobility can be really heartbreaking for both owner and dog, and sixteen is an excellent age. Beautiful dog.

  • Please advise me where i can get either a used chair for a 15 yr old Samoyed/Retriever mix-female. She keeps falling down and needs assistance getting up. She is in pretty good health otherwise- she has arthritis and had a hip operation when we adopted her-hip displasia. Thanks for your help.

  • takes good care of that dog because dogs ami that I love, though it is easy to say that I nursed for 16 years

  • would and will you have another samoyed, I have a twelve year old sammy named simba and already he is showing signs of a weak backend

  • I would get your dog a few physical therapy sessions (canine rehabilitation) to teach you what you can do do keep Simba's rear legs strong. Also, if Simba is overweight, try to put him on a diet.

If you do this, it is likely he will have a longer life with less pain.

  • God bless you for taking good care of your samoyed. you made my day :)

  • Hi, Could you please let me know where you got the wheelchair. I recently had to put my 16 year old Sammy down b'cos she was having problems w/her front legs and now my 14 yr old Sammy is having problems - I'd like to get her one. Thanks so much. Love your vid and pup.

    Sammy mom of 6

  • Your dog was so lovely and fortunate to have such a good owner.

  • Thank you. I loved him a lot. Over 16 years is a long time to spend with a pet.

  • That dog Is so cute! Great video

  • its using its back legs? why does it need a wheel chair?

  • He would fall over after every few feet of walking and couldn't get back up without help. His back hips/legs were very unstable due to old age. The wheelcart did the trick.

  • He was very beautiful, he obviously had a wonderful owner. :-)

  • whats wrong with him? is he ok?

  • He was just very old and used to fall a lot. He died, but he was happy with his wheel cart for a year at the end of his life.

  • Please tell me where you got the chair, my samoyed needs one, she's 14 and falling all the time, I need to help her. It's tearing my heart out. :(

  • He was very old and had weak, arthritic hips. He used to fall a lot. The cart gave him stability and he could walk forever in it.

  • pobrecito

  • wow

mi perra se murio alos 11 años

  • He is werry beautiful:) I love Samoyeds realy:)

  • Is sad time now?

    :(

  • my samoyed died at the age of 16/17 :( this was about 3 years ago and i still miss him like hell... beautiful dogs <3

  • poor old samoyed :(

  • These things are blessings. I had an older dog that got hit by a car. A "wheelchair" really improved his life.

  • His rear end was very weak and unstable due to hip dysplasia. The rest of his body (and mental attitude,) was fine. The wheels allowed him to walk without falling, and he could go for 20 minutes when in it. It extended his life, and he really enjoyed himself with it.

  • AnnBeth, my 15 year old Sammy is having the same problem. where do I buy one of these for her?

  • What was it that necessitated him to have a wheelchair?

  • this is really upsetting :(

  • One of the saddest days off my life was when I lost my Sammy Bart...He was the best dog. I got a new Samoyed pup named Linus and he's a quite a character himself. :) I think they're the best dogs!

  • God bless you. I think that only pet owners can truly understand the love we have for our pets. Dogs are so wonderful, all the trials of chewed socks and underwear don't protect us from having them wiggle into our hearts forever. You are blessed for having such a love.

  • He is so cute. I bet he was snagging up all the females with his pimpin wheels.

I guess it is true....Samoyed dogs are cute till they are on their last limb.

PS: sorry he died and sorry this comment so late : (

  • aww sorry to hear that hope u get over soon and he's only 1/2? dogs are suppose to live 10 years atleast. HOW'D HE GET HIS WHEEL CHAIRS?

HE'LL BE ALWAYS ALIVE IN UR HEART

  • omg poor puppy

  • very sorry you lost your baby, I lost my american eskimo Buddy 2 weeks ago at 14 1/2 It feels like I lost a child. I have his son as well but its not the same!

  • My samoyed is 9. I want more than just 16 measly years. It's not enough time.

  • I'm pretty sure he had a happy life.

  • awe.

  • Your dog is in HeaveN now

  • My Taz passed away in March 2008. He was able to enjoy the end of his life, and live a lot longer because he had the wheelcart. He died at 16 1/2 years old. I have a new Samoyed puppy now.

  • my dog rocko just died last night at 15 years old, for the last year or two he could hardly walk out the door, it makes me so sad that i didnt know about one of these chairs, i know it would have made him alot happier in his last days.

  • awesome

you have taking care of him don't you...

    by the way

    so sorry

  • <3

    aww

  • i love samoyeds.... <3 i have one.... because my first one passed away a few years ago.... :'( and WOW i wish my dog could live that long!

  • We adopted a sammie when i was a baby and he lived to be 18. The best breed!

  • Oh wow 16. My samoyed is 12 and he still go for 3-4miles walk a day. I hope he lives up to 16.

  • ann beth ur like a youtube celebrity its mikey

  • our Samoyed lived to be 15. great family dogs!

  • 16 years ola? wow! thats great!!!

  • My samoyed is 12 and he has problems to walk too, i hope my familly can get a wheelchair like in your video.

  • my samoyed's hips started to go when he was 16...i wish i could have known you before we put him down last year.......

...........now i really wish i can turn back time. :,(

  • me too. I put mine down two years ago and still regret it

  • That's a perfectly normal feeling on your behalf, I'd probably feel the same.

However, I'm sure you did it because it was the best thing to do for him/her. The dog was probably suffering a lot, consider what you did as a well-received relief.

  • How did u know he must to use it? I mean.. My samoyed is 11 years old... I wanna be ready when she gets more older

  • My Samoyed losing his balance when he was walking. His eyes were still bright, and overall, he was still healthy. The wheelcart gave him the balance he needed, and he really enjoyed walking in it. He could sniff the ground without losing his balance, and it was so much easier for him.

  • thanks for replying me..:D! anyway she moves her hips too much.. I will ask to my vet.. thanks

  • is he still alive?

  • No :( I finally had to put him down at 16 1/2 years due to an inoperable tumor that had grown really large in his armpit. It got really red/purple one day, and I knew it was going to lead to a crisis situation if I didn't do something. I never wanted him to suffer, and I knew it was his time.

He went for a walk that morning, and I held him through the whole thing. He knew he was loved and I will never forget him, and all that he taught me about older dogs.

  • hail the samoyeds the best dogs :D!

  • Excellent device. Keep them walking everyday and they will surprise you by defying the odds. It keeps the joints smoother at where they rub.

  • I love this breed for its perseverance. We lost our beloved samoyed, Mo at 11 1/2 yrs from two types of cancer. You are so very blessed and I hope that your boy continues to stay strong and healthy. And congrats on the new puppy! Please post pictures.

  • this is a great video!

One of my (now late) sams had a bad rear due to a car accident and this would have been good for her.

our present resident sam princess is now 10 and her right knee is giving her trouble but hopefully she won't need this type of assistance for a few years yet.

thanks for the concept and video

  • Too bad I didn't know you or her back then. I could have helped her! I'm a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (aka a Physical Therapist for dogs) You should have your new princess checked out, maybe some PT would do her good before it's too late : ) I just got a new Sammy puppy last week. He's soooo cute.

  • It's pretty damn good and a mighty fine dog.

  • > It's pretty damn good and a mighty fine dog.

Haha, every Samoyed is. I hope mine makes it to 16, she's 8 now.

I take it back, I hope she makes it to 30.

  • He's 16 1/2 now and doesn't need the "wheelchair" anymore. It was so effective at strengthening him, that he doesn't use it at this time. My daughter and I walk him at least 3 x/day. It helps so much. We take him to the beach to walk as well. A change of scenery really does him good.

  • That's great!

  • If you want to know my opinion, it's pretty damn good. What a fine dog...

  • Wow ! I wish my buddy Mo had lived long enough to have such neat wheels.
