  • thanks for not letting me to post the comment...

  • Russia will never come close to USA...Thank you

  • Georgia will never return to the Soviet Union, Russians still dream about the new USSR. they support separatism in other countries but what about Chechnia, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Tatarstan... why don't Putin and Medvedev support sparatism in their own country?

  • I much read your opinions about Russia! I [Rossiyanan] itself is [polozhytelnye] answers of [kakiya] of [priderzhyvayus]! that the conversation between our countries is obliged they take place! and in this case the U.S. Government as in each barrel plug! As arrived to Afghanistan behavior of heroin it increased once 50

  • no one wants too be part of russia its a shit hole that has nothing but unhappy poor people!

  • that's right!!!!!!!!!

  • this war was against a pipeline project of "NABUCCO" , russians try to control Georgia not to let Europeans get gas from other countries. Georgians have their own interests in a new gas pipeline through their country. it will be an alternative line for Europe. The war was between Russia and Georgia. on Georgian territory, Georgians have no ethnic problems with other Caucasians. all the Caucasus have problems with Russia. but it's a long story....don't speak if you don't know the facts.

  • In Georgia,Poland,Ukraine etc it's Russian aggression and imperialism that must be stopped

  • greeksinmars: Thast's what you should do. Care about your own counrty as Russians do. And worry about some other countries (like Britain, in this case) using impudent lies to hurt your country. Seriously, do. Because earlier or later they will.

  • what there talk about ?? CNN IS A DIG

  • stupid propoganda, in chechnya chechens were fighting with majaheds, that arrived there from afghanistan. And russian military arrived there to stop genocide.

    FUCK THE CNN.

  • Are you afraid Russia? That's right, because Russia is the one country on the earth, which can stop american agressors. We will show you CUSCINU MAT'(Cuscin's mother) as Chrushev said in UN in the middle of the 20's century:-))

  • yes!

  • oo fuck polish man :D

  • Some guy spreading propaganda and they call it 'news'

  • He is such a smart guy. Brezinski would know since he has been in charge of Russian Affairs. Medvedev has no real power. He is Putin's little puppet. Putin is a former KGB guy who is nostalgic about Russia's former glory days. Russia needs to be stopped before it starts a new cold war. Medvedev already announced yesterday he is not afraid of another cold war. If Russia gets away with this, the world won't be the same. We may feel that this is far away, but we should care.

  • Brezinski makes a perfect point. He would know since he has been in charge of Russian affars. Russia wants to rebuild USSR. Medvedev has no real power. Putin is a KGB guy who is nostalgic about USSR. I think Russia needs to be stopped. If Russia gets away with this, world won't be the same

  • Think again. Apparently, you did not so the first time.

  • hahaha Fuck you all Russia and USA I am GREEK from GREECE and I am very proud for my nation and I am ready to die for GREECE and Only for GREECE not NATO not EU only GREECE!!

  • al we ca do is wait and see what will happen.

  • here it is! a comment of a typical american! there is much more than watching that you can do! of course you first attack poor countries and watch how ppl suffer! and that makes you feel strong! in fact you are not!

  • The Cold war never ended, only 1 key player fell on its ass, America as been keeping it running like the British empire has for Century's with the Weapons industry complex.

You can ask any politicien who isnt an religious idiot. You need to find more enemy's so you can make weapons and blow the shit out of people. This is the game of world domination. Land of the Free??? U.S.A is the most militarized country in the world. Wake up people. The Brits are even worse. Both sides of everything.

  • One of the only reasons that is is because of World War 2. We have basically been the world peace keepers, keeping communism and fascism at bay keeping your dumb ass from slavery and death. But it will all end soon, and when America is out of the picture, you will cry, weep and wish we were still here.

    Americans

Do not think our enemies aren't plotting to take us down. Especially now because we are so vulnerable to attack, our attention divided in Iraq, Iran, China & Georgia. Don't be fools

  • Ha! Fionnuala Sweeney used to be a tv presenter here in Ireland in the 90's!Her appearance and accent hav changed A LOT! Anyone remember her at the Eurovision song contest 1994!? lol

  • ICQ correspondence of the president of Russia:

    - Have we already posted our military base in Cuba?

    - What???!!!O_O

    - Sorry, George, wrong window!)))

  • ICQ correspondence of the president of Russia:

    - Have we already posted our military base in Cuba?

    - What???!!!O_O

    - Sorry, George, wrong window!)))

  • haha!

  • A new cold war era?

  • i seriously hope not, with this advance the technology, if the cold war becomes hot [actual fighting/ww3] the world will end the nuclear bombs will just destroy everything

  • If this shit doesn't cool down due to both sides and America and that asshole Putin, WW3 is going to happen. Now Russia threatens Poland. What the fuck?? Russia wants power nothing more nothing less. First Georgia then Europe. Duh if this doesn't look obvious to you the look again. Iran is right next door to Georgia. Makes sense.

  • And I suppose america watns nothing more than for everyone to get along? America is the worlds bully and is constanly looking to subjugate and rob poor countries of their natural resources.

  • America is the school yard bully, we push kids around and when they strike back we call them terrorists and all the parrots around us agree.

We pushed russia around, we installed anti missle systems in poland, we bombed the flying hell out of serbia, russias ally. and now we talk about russian atrocities?? what about the 1 million 200 thousand people we killed in iraq? or the villages we bomb in afganistan?

We have NO rights in speaking about morals. We arent free, we think we are, but we arnt.

  • True, but Russia has NO business in caring about what POLAND DOES. This is proof that Russia wants the old USSR back, they want to control the former republics of the USSR, or they wouldnt be so worried about what Poland, Georgia, and the Ukraine does.

  • pure genius. you are one of the least propaganda swayed individuals i have ever heard from. goes to show there are still some people out there with their eyes open and their minds still critical of the things they hear. good for you. if only there were more people like you in this world.

  • Your ignorance on foriegn affairs astounds me. Have you ever picked up a book? Million people? Installed missile system in Poland and that happened before Russia invaded, to right? We pushed russia around.LOL

  • Iberi1

Why don't you tell us about 1992, what happend with osetian people when geargians was under Gamsuhurdia? That's would be very interesting. Do not forget tell us how many osetins georgians killed back than and why RUSSIA try right now to protect osetian population.

  • OSCE monitors report that both sides have worked in recent months to fortify their respective military positions. In addition, the sides continue to exchange gunfire. Firefights were common at night. Analysts say the night-time gun battles were designed not so much to inflict casualties, but more to keep tensions running high.

  • Tbilisi and Tskhinvali have been at odds since a 1991-92 conflict, which left South Ossetia operating beyond Georgia's administrative reach. Despite the lack of a pact to defined South Ossetia's political relationship to Georgia, the two sides coexisted in relative peace for over a decade. Tension began to escalate again in connection with new President - Mikheil Saakashvili's drive to reestablish Tbilisi's authority across all Georgian territory.

  • In the late 1980s, when perestroika policy initiated by Gorbachev, rising nationalism in the Georgian SSR and country's movement towards independence were opposed by the Ossetian nationalistic organization, Ademon Nykhas (Popular Front), which demanded unification with Soviet Russia.

  • On November 10, 1989, the South Ossetian Supreme Soviet approved a decision to unite South Ossetia with the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. However, a day later, the Georgian SSR Supreme Soviet revoked the decision and on 23 November, thousands of Georgians led by Zviad Gamsakhurdia and other opposition leaders marched to Tskhinvali, the South Ossetian capital, to hold a meeting there.

  • The Ossetians mobilized blocking the road and only the interference of Soviet Army units could avoid the clash between the two demonstrations. The Soviet commanders made Georgian demonstrators turn back. However, several people were wounded in subsequent clashes between Georgians and Ossetians.

  • On December 11, 1990, several bloody incidents occurred in and around Tskhinvali. Georgian government declared a state of emergency in the districts of Tskhinvali and Java on December 12. Georgian police and National Guards units were dispatched in the region to disarm Ossetian armed groups.

  • The most intense period of war was in March and April 1991, violence resumed in mid-September. The fighting left hundreds killed and wounded, which created approximately 80,000 refugees on the BOTH SIDES of the Georgian-Russian border. Georgian forces sat in the hills around Tskhinvali and besieged the city.

  • Many South Ossetian villages were attacked and burned down as were Georgian houses and schools in Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia. As a result, approximately 1,000 died and ethnic Ossetians fled the territory and Georgia proper, most across the border into North Ossetia. A further ethnic Georgians fled South Ossetia and settled in other parts of Georgia.

  • Many South Ossetians were resettled in uninhabited areas of North Ossetia from which the Ingush had been expelled by in 1944, leading to conflicts between Ossetians and Ingush over the right of residence in former Ingush territory.

  • The western part of South Ossetia was affected by 1991 Racha-Java earthquake, killed 200 and left 300 families homeless.

  • In February 1992, with sporadic Russian involvement, the fighting escalated. Georgian authorities claimed Russian generals supplied the Ossetian militias. Most independent observers agreed with that commanders of the Russian Interior Ministry Forces were actually involved in the conflict. Russian officials including the Chairman of the Russian Supreme Soviet, Ruslan Khasbulatov and President Boris Yeltsin made statements supporting the Ossetians.

  • Russia has allways been imperialistic pig. This is going to cost them alot. Sad that russian people are so stupid that they belive Putin & Co. Media Group.

  • You are right, they are embarrassed of what bullys they are, like they are of their mother russia. They pick on all the countries over there in the eastern block and they finally got their countries back. russia wants power and thats all they care about. Take away their military and they are nothing but poor.

I see russians as pathetic jealous and arrogant. People hate what they don't understand and they are from a poor country of inbreeds and can't stand the fact they weren't born in the USA.

  • Well, you definitely show the world what damage being born in US can do to a human brain... Not much to be jealous about though...

  • In the face of inner instability following the military coup against President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Georgia agreed to the negotiations to avoid the confrontation with Russia. On 24 June 1992, the Head of the State Council of Georgia, Eduard Shevardnadze and Russian President Boris Yeltsin met to discuss the question of South Ossetia. A ceasefire was agreed upon and on 14 July 1992.

  • WAR NEVER ENDS NEVER WHY WHY

  • Wow Americans Sticking their nose in Russians business

  • Dear All:

Unlike most of you, I am on both sides of the fence. Unlike most of you, I also know something of what I am talking about.

  • Those sympathetic to Georgia can point out the hypocrisy of Russia brutally suppressing separatism in Chechnya while fostering it in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. But others recall the parallels the Russians continually emphasized over Kosovo with the breakaway regions of the Georgian state that have enjoyed de facto independence since the early 1990s.

  • Right! where was Georgia on the issue of Chechnya?? Where has been US or EU on that issue they compromised it for Russian support for "war on Terror". Right and wrong, Good Vs. evil?? morality is very selectively and conveniently used by all sides (so lets not be naive).Georgia has an incompetent leadership which miscalculated its importance in the eyes of the west. Russia is very important to the US and EU over Iran issue, to compromise.

  • History Repeats: Background Information about so called South Osetia and Soviet Invasion in Georgia.

FACT: South Ossetia is part of Georgia, as every country on earth recognises. You cannot invade your own country.

The region, which is one and a half times the area of Luxembourg[34] (roughly 6% of the total territory of Georgia) broke away from Georgia in the 1991--1992 war .

  • PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD...stop being ignorants....whoever started this.....this is nothing else then "aggression on E.U.".

Again ...."war" for oil and gas

Both sites took advantage to "attack"...

There was a growing conflict between Russia vs USA and E.U. ....THATS WHAT "EXPLODED"!!!

  • The Osetians are originally descendants of the Alans. They became Christians during the early Middle Ages, under Georgian and Byzantine influences. Under Mongol rule, they were pushed out of their homeland south in present-day Republic of Alania (north Caucasus) under Russian rule from 1767.

  • Iberi, how is it nobody can vote for your posts only? For everybody else people can say if they like it or not, for your posts there are no voting icons. Why? How you do that?

  • В этой стране тот дворянин, с кем я говорю и до тех пор, пока я с ним говорю)))

  • Another part of Osetians migrated towards and over the Caucasus mountains, to Georgia in the central region of Georgia - Shida Kartli -- Under rule of the Georgian Royal Dynasty Bagrationi. Little part of Osetians also moved to in Western Georgian Kingdom -- Imereti, Rulled by another branch of Bagrationi Dynasty.

  • Georgians always lived in the region even 2000 years before the Alans/Ossetian arrival there in the 14th-17th centuries as well as after newcomers settled.

  • In 1801, During the Annexation of the Eastern Georgian Kingdom of Kartli-Kaxeti, Georgian villages populated by Osetians minority (current so called South Osetia) automatically become part of Tiflis (Tbilisi) Gubernia under Imperial Russia, since the territory where they lived was territory of the above mentioned Georgian Kingdom with the capital city in Tbilisi.

  • After occupation of Georgia by Soviet Russia in 1924 thi historic Georgian province Shida Kartli (central Georgia) became known as South Ossetia and the "South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast" (i.e. district) was formed.

  • Although South Ossetia had its own language (Ossetian), Russian and Georgian were administrative/state languages. At present, Russian is -- the only administrative language used by the separatist government of in Tskhinvali.

In the Soviet time, under the rule of Georgia's government, it enjoyed some degree of autonomy, including to practice (Osetian) language and teach it in schools.

  • Generally speaking, Georgians and Ossetians have been living in peace with each other except for the episodes in 1918--1920. Both ethnicities have had a high level of interaction and a high rate of intermarriages.

  • FACT: The South Ossetian "separatist regime" has nothing to do with the South Ossetian people. They are gang of self-appointed thugs who support themselves by violence and extortion. They are no more representative of the Ossetians than the IRA is representative of Catholics in Northern Ireland, who repeatedly cry "Not in Our Name!"

  • FACT: Russia is bombing civilian targets in Georgia which are nowhere near the conflict zone and have nothing to do with "defending South Ossetians". How do I know? My wife is stranded in a village to the east of the zone, hears the bombs, sees the planes flying over. Younger son was in Batumi until he ran home because the city was bombed. Let us see how many of you who claim Russia has humanitarian motives for its actions will come and get my wife out of that village.

  • FACT: Georgia has the right to retake its own territory from an illegal regime and Russia has no right to either intervene or bomb Georgia. If it happened in your country, you would all change your tune.

Lots of people have died in this war and a lot more will. Wait till your relatives are involved and then submit half-baked nonsense on the internet.

  • Brzezinski is a lawyer and foreign policy expert.. He is the son of Polish-born former US National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski and the grandson of Polish diplomat Tadeusz Brzeziński. Mark Brzezinski graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in government and political science, earned a JD from the University of Virginia Law School, and holds a DPhil in political science from Oxford. He also earned a Fulbright Scholarship to study the Polish Constitutional Court.etc etc...

  • The truth is that Russia is "showing off" ...Poland also - since we are a member in E.U. These days.... and it's not only Poland since last couple years that Russia is "missing".....Georgia is going thru changes like Poland was(not only Poland) just before we became a part of a E.U. - this is also a "signal" to E.U. and NATO to stop spreading authorities in some regions...threat is WWIII...answer is "delicate"...even USA steps back - batrayal for Georgias help in Irak??

  • Usa help georgia?

  • USA help Georgia and Iraq ^))

  • Its time for us Americans to teach the so called Russians a lession.

Bomb the hell out of them.

YOu might be able to take geargia, but your know match for are ROBOT UAV THAT ARE PROGRAMMED TO GO INTO YOUR COUNTRY AND BLOW THEMSELVES UP.

  • and so it begins...

    NWO

  • this was done by the americans soo they can have a war with the russians to be number 1 but they gonna suck our balls by the end

  • russia will fall to america!

  • And let's not forget the split up country Azerbijan.

  • I agree with lberi1

  • But the point here is we are talking about vision of Abkhazia from where more than 450,000 people have been thrown out from their houses. This is one of the most forgotten and, you know, brutal ethnic cleansings of the end of 20th century. With the help of Russian army, Georgians were bombed. This time, they are again flying over. Last time, Russians were bombing Georgians in Abkhazia for many, many months before these people had to flee the place.

  • This is basically the most blatant challenge you could give to post-Cold War, in general, to modern European order.

Now what is the motivation? What's the way -- the Russians have been explaining this publicly as well as privately. This is their reaction to NATO expansion plans. This is their reaction to the independence of Kosovo. And this is their reaction to increasing U.S. presence here in the region. Looks like some people have not noticed that the Cold War is over.

  • NATO could crush Russia in conventional warfare without the US help. France and the UK together are as strong as russia if not stronger. Then add everyone else in. Russias digging a hole

  • Yeh UK and France would annihilate Russia. The fact that our technology is 20 years in advance of theirs is proof enough.

Imagine if the Germans got involved too. A lot of payback there.

  • Mate, France and UK are zero compared to Russia. Remember that russians have never been beaten in a real war(Afghanistan was just a joke).

  • actually you have to consider every thing that has come from the vastness of russia

    Huns

    Soviets

    Muscovy

Who beat france when it was stomping across europe? Russia who beat germany in ww2 Russia who started the dark ages Russia lol i like to see uk try

  • But the reality is -- you know, jokes aside, that this is a very worrisome development and that has been taking continuous character. The main point is that Russia no longer supports -- no longer acknowledges jurisdiction of Georgia towards essential part of its own territory. And these kind of things has never happened since -- not only since the end of Cold War, but are unprecedented since the end of Second World War anywhere.

  • "not supported by the USA" my ass... American military instructors were training the georgian troops just recently. In fact, they are still in Georgia. The majority of weapons they use were "donated" by the
