Craig Venter faces enormous technological hurdles to turn algae into oil. It costs about 100 US Dollars per gallon, not per barrel for algae oil. The money promised is based on reaching milestones. So he has some extra money, but if fails to reach the milestones, he will not get all of that money.
Before we max out the solar energy of the distant future, I am concerned about maxing out with oil now. We are using more oil than we are finding for decades, the techno fixes are still vaporware.
Maybe it will make sense to push the stars and planets closer together, to make it easier & faster to transmit energy between them. Saw an interesting documentary about how Jupiter's gravity prevents comets and asteroids from crashing into Earth. I guess we'll have to clean up space at some point... make it a bit more safe & predictable. Anyway... we'll have to let the machines decide.
Hot as balls? Man, its -22 celcius tonight were Im watching. Entertaining blog as usual. That being said, consider doing a special blog post outside where the rest of us can live vicariously through your inverted seasons. Cheers.
