I have the impression that the victors of the war to justify their inhumane acts (as bombing, killing and expelling many millions of women and children) must represent the German people and especially the German soldiers as brutes. His words that were passed down to me were "Blood flowed as high as your ankles". My question is: What for? The English said "if the German's win we will all speak German" and as modern politics show! We all speak English! Including myself! What was it for? From my perspective, for one tirent over another! Hereby, I do not defend the German soldiers who have great guilt in the Second World War, but history teaches us that the German generals (who came from the aristocracy) hated SS generals because they were ordinary people who have come to the position over the corpses of the innocent people.
I like the fact that these photos also show the human side of our former enemy. Especially the picture fo the blonde soldier, presumably being spoken to by his daughter, whilst he is deep in thought. Very touching. I do not understand how Tamileh finds these images sickening - ?
