  • i wish this was on later then 10am :( lol

  • At 1:30, why is K-9 wearing what looks like of the Master's old cloaks?

  • Doctor Who mag confirmed that John leesen will return as the voice of K9 for this series.

  • 0:45

    Dr. Animo?

  • I'm really looking forward to this Series! I'm especially glad that Veteran K9 voice actor, John Leeson is voicing him in the finished programme, as well as 6 episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 3!

  • is k.9 goin 2 be in The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 3! kause if he is then there goin 2 have 2 show how he kinda regenerated....

  • Different model of K9 that features in the K9 Spinoff. The one that features currently in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures, is K9 Mark 4. The one that is in the K9 Spin off Show is the original, K9 Mark 1 to be precise. He regenerates into a sleeker form, because he self destructs during a battle with two reptilian Jixen warriors.

  • howdu no so much

  • Research in my spare time. Plus I'm a MASSIVE Doctor Who fan. I guess that explains it.

  • same here exept i dont research i just no from watching them

  • well technically this has nothing to do with Doctor who by law. It is just taking the character and making a different world and story for him. The BBC has nothing do with this and nor do Doctor who creators apart from some K-9 creator so i dunt think nythin here shud be counted as cannon to dr who or sarah jane...

  • The original K-9 traveled with The Doctor, and this IS the original K-9

"some k-9 creator", your uneducated mind obviously fails to register that K-9's CO-CREATOR has said it's the original?

    Stop talking shit. It's canon.

  • how can i be talking shit, itis not apart of the BBC and so cannot reference the shows plot in any way. Uneducated mind? Oh please...I only trying to inform you, no need to be snobbish about it. The show is simply reinvisioning the character, he will remain the same in Doctor who and SJA because it is a totally different team who work on it.

  • I CAN'T WAIT!!!

  • is this going 2 b shown in america cuz dey dont know who k-9 is ,,,, is doctor who popular there? and y is it on disney xd not cbbc????? p.s.v.p

  • As I understand it, the producers of K-9 don't have access to Doctor Who material... so what will just be said is "this is London, 2050, and here's a alien robot dog." They might mention Professor Marius in passing, but they can't mention the Doctor.

Which on the plus side means that people don't have to worry about knowing loads about DW, they can just dive right in and enjoy the fun!

  • It will be shown first on Disney XD next year. It will also however, eventually be shown later in 2010 on CBBC.

  • 1:31 Those look like timelords clothes

  • They're not. It's an ancient Egyptian cloak to make K9 look majestic so he can stand up to and fight Anubis' statue.

  • What is the music in this trailer???

  • The music used on this trailer is copyright free library music and is not the official K9 Theme or series incidental music.

  • What's it called though??

  • I'm in Episode 4. The Oak Tree episode. I'm Robin Hood.

  • Ah, I see. Your real name isn't Remi Broadway by any chance, is it? And BTW, the ep's called 'The Last Oak Tree in England'.

  • i can't wait!!!! yey! :D

  • It looks great, but K9s voice HAS to go. Isnt John Leeson doing the voice? This model K9, is it the K9 that knew Sarah Jane and the Doctor?

  • Yeah I just watched this again and I totally agree, I have nothing against australians but australian is something K9 should NOT be, I mean he wasn't before so its just crazy to suddenly have him voiced by an australian all of a sudden, barely suits him. Even if this k9 isn't the same as the k9 everyone is familiar with.

  • I read somewhere it is K-9 mark1 that Leela had on Gallifrey.

Due to BBC copyright,Leela or The Doctor won't be mentioned.

  • Yes, it is. And as the BBC have the Copyright, the Doctor defiantely can't be mentioned. As for Leela, Gallifrey and the Time War, they may be mentioned. Who knows, eh? Still, looking forward to this and Doctor Who Series 5 in 2010!

  • Sorry about the typo. I meant to put 'definately' and put 'defiantely' instead. My apologies.

  • Thats cool I type things wrong too, wish K-9 wasn't redesinged if its not broke, don't fix it.

  • Nope, this is the original. K9 MK 1, built in the year 5000 (the beginning of the 51st Century) by Professor Marius and travelled with the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) until he decided to stay on Gallifrey with the Doctor's Companion, the Sevateem Savage, Leela. Following Gallifrey's destruction, K9 MK 1 fled through a time hole to London's future, where this Series begins. After fighting a Jixen Warrior, he self destructs, but asks Starkey to initiate regeneration program, thereby gaining a new form.

  • Wouldn't this be the original. The 2050 K9 was eventually inheritted by Marius in 5000.

  • It is the original, but the Creator of K9 and the show, Bob Baker confirmed that it takes place AFTER K9 MK 1's travels with the Doctor and after he left Gallifrey. Besides, how can this be inherited by Marius? He created K9 MK 1, after all and not in the new sleek rejuvenated form that can fly, that you see in this Series.

  • EPIC!!!

  • oh hang one, April 1st, is this an April Fools' joke?

  • We will begin broadcast in the new year.

This isn't an April fools btw.

  • oh, brilliant. Look forward to watching!!

  • when does this come out, and is it coming out?

  • i saw where some of this was filmed, they werent filmin at the time though, it was at fort liton. it looked like a good settin for though.

  • Isn't the Fort Liton filming for the Doctor Who finale? Or am I thinking of a different fort? lol

  • i think your thinkin of a different port, im talkin bout a fort in australlia.

  • cant wait till it comes out any 1 know when it does come out

  • I'm glad, though, that "K-9 and Company" didn't get picked up in the early 80's. The pilot was not very impressive, and I didn't relish the thought of Liz Sladen playing second fiddle to a robot dog.

This, however, looks so cute! I can't wait to see it.

  • Apparently had it been picked up it might have revealed that SJ's K-9 was actually sent by the Master as part of an elaborate trap reminds me of the climax of season 1.

  • i heard its not actully k9 from dr who. its actully supposed to be just a robot dog named k9. but tom baker sais its the k9 that used to be with romana. still cant wait for the series

  • I heard its K-9 Mark1,who left with Leela, the orginal K-9 model is chasing a monster then has to be destroyed then rebuilt as the new K-9 version.

  • Brill

  • Finally an australian show and I live there

  • Farscape was another Australian-made sci-fi show, with quite a lot of Australian actors. You may like it, but the 1st two series are the best IMO.

And I kinda wish this was set in Brisbane. It would broaden out the Whoniverse and bring a bit of local colour to the show.

Not going to knock it until I see it though... fingers crossed!

  • great to see K9 back with his very own show, im sure it will do very well!

  • 0:50 - 0:52 CONVERSE!!!

  • Also, if Australians are making this, what's wrong with it being set in Australia? Sure, Dr. Who is a British show, but location has is not particularly important on a show about a time/space traveler.

  • True and it would make sense to do so explaining why its so different even though set at some point in the future.

  • RIP john leeson's K9

    ill always love you

ummmmmm is it wrong hat i want to see this?

  • Oh my god! Look at 1:00 the cane that bloke is holding... it's exactly like mine, accept the tail is truncated! Goodness me, I own a prop before it's even been on TV lol!

  • k9 sounds a little aussie...

  • does anyone know where they are filming it exactally?

  • Brisbane, Australia.. but it's set in England and they're all speaking with British accents..

  • i know that much, i just wanted to know like an exact location so i could go watch it being, cause i live right near where they are filming it. thanks anyway tho

  • Ohhh.. Yeah, I didn't ask my brother where they were filming, because I don't know much of Brisbane suburbs.. He's one of the robot cop creatures in like 6 episodes.. He's filming tomorrow actually..

  • thats so cool, are they filming in the streets today?

    thanks for your help :)

  • it looks 90's

  • I dunno. I HATE judging before I see something, but it looks a little too cheesy. SJAs is aimed a little much at kids for me, but I enjoy it.

This LOOKS like it's aimed a bit younger. Like a Nickelodeon show. Good in smaller doses.

  • I'm not wild about the fact that K-9 is basically a flying tank now.

  • He's gone the way of the modern Daleks!

  • This looks like a kids only show really where SJA could be both. This audience is most likely for younger than SJA.

Looks quite well...different. I must say looks better than it could've been.

I'm not sure about the new design yet but thats only because I got so attatched to the old, rusty one.

    I'll get over it.

I might watch it, probably won't though.

I want this to be a different k-9. Like another one from Marinus or something.

  • Actually I kind of like David Brierly's K9 voice too! :P

It is a shame that K9 makes fewer appearances in Sarah Jane because of the existence of this series. To be honest, I find Sarah Jane Adventures a bit juvenile (only watched the first 3 though).

I wish the *K9 and Company* series from the 1980's had taken off after the pilot episode. Nerdy Brendan, K9 and Sarah Jane would have been an awesome character combo.

But I'll enjoy this K9 - it'll be much better than Michael Bay's Transformers!

  • Re: K9's voice

It takes a bit of getting used to K9 sounding like a slightly cocky Australian of possible Greek heritage :P

However - this voice sounds *much more* like the original K9 voice *compared to* David Brierly's voice of K9 *on Doctor Who Series 17* - David's K9 voice sounded like the English dub of Sandy from Monkey Magic ... so I have no complaints about this voice.

John Leeson is great - it is a shame they likely won't get him for operational reasons - but I'll get used to it.

  • I think this show will be fun. :)

Yes, it is an Australian commercial TV production. That doesn't matter - Bob Baker the copyright owner for K9 is involved and he couldn't get anything started at the BBC for many years, so best wishes to him on this venture.

And that's why many of the characters will have Australian styling - and the British characters will have the slightly pantomimish exaggerated Queen's English.

I'm going to comment on the likely abscence of John Leeson next.

  • To al the dislikers:

Fair enough - I understand your criticisms, see my opinions below.

    To all the ***haters***:

Stop hating. Get real. Sure, it's not going to be exac'ly like you wanted it. If you can stand it, just enjoy it as a loosely based spin-off ... if you can't, just walk away and pretend it never happened. But don't have a tantrum.

My opinions and observations? See my next post here.

  • Way better than Torchwood. Oh, and THIS is the kind of upgrade he needs. Shame it's only aimed at kids though.

  • no difference. you fail.

  • you are an idiot

  • There's no difference between this and Sarah Jane.

    Looks better than Torchwood. LOL

  • The thing about Torchwood and Sarah Jane adventures is, they are not made like childrens programs, unlike this. A lot childrens programs are made regarding children, unlike the Sarah Jane adventures, which can be liked by people of all ages, or to a greater extent Doctor Who, which started off as a childrens show, but did not treat the audience as children.

  • This is aimed at children, I hope.

  • It's ALL aimed at children.

  • Yes, didn't you see the episode of Doctor Who that sparked the Sarah Jane Chronicles? K9 was redesigned then.

And the accents aren't THAT bad.

  • Sorry but I have know idea what the Sarah Jane Chronicles are, unless you mean the Sarah Jane adventures, which is a good program. Yes, I did see School Reunion and when I say redesign I don't mean just change some few minor positions around the K.9 body, I mean a complete revamp, like this, which I don't think is needed.

  • My apologies, of course you're right. No idea where I got 'chronicles' from.

  • I'm pretty sure he means Sarah Jane Adventures.

He got confused with the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

  • He wasn't redesigned at the end of School Reunion, so much as rebuilt.

In fact, the rusty old "mk III" looked rather like the original lighter grey mk I gone to seed, while the mk IV at the episode's end actually looked more like the proper mk III originally seen in 'K9 and Company', being a bit boxier and blue.

Oh yeah. Bow before the ubergeek.

  • i love it!

  • this is filmed in like a 20 minute drive from my house, awesome!

  • "Everytime ther's a bad smell, blame the dog!"

This reeks. I blame the producers.

  • If its not John Leeson's voice its *NOT* K9.

And why the la-di-da English accents....OH PLEASE!

  • yeah its all Aussie. even some the clothes they are wearing were made by The Australia Coat Company at Slcks Creek in QLD.

good to see coorporations supporting aussie companies!!

  • wat?

  • The fact that K9 can now fly really points out the similiarity to the Daleks. But gotta love the way he now wiggles his ears :P

  • No chance they can throw in a line about the Time War?!

  • Not likely, but possible. Unlikely though, because the Time War still belongs to BBC.

  • Which was actually invented by Alan Moore, but there you go.

  • Pardon me, but Alan Moore did not invent the Time War. Perhaps one of the old wars in the comics, but not the TV series Time War.

  • True, and doesen't that cape at 1:31 ring a bell?

  • First thought that too, but it's just egyptian... (I think, taking into account that one of the episodes is called 'The Curse of Anubis')

  • They just used the voice for the trailer, The music and some of the effects are also temporary.

So, no worries. This is not the voice that they'll be using for K9 in the tv series.

  • Not that I have anything about that part but regenerates?

Okay at least it has more appeal to me than Matt Smith but wait and see applies to both!

  • The CGI and effects are great. It looks like fun for children, except the bad smell joke - Children don't appreciate this sort of vulgarity as much as modern television people seem to think. And the aussie-voiced K9 - let's just hope they call John Leeson quickly!

  • Comment removed

  • John Leeson where are you??? :d

  • Looks like they're trying to make the original "K- and Company" pilot look like the current fourth season of Doctor Who...

  • That was Tom Felton at 1:00; excellent.

I'm looking forward to the series premiere.

  • I love it! I can't wait for the full series!

  • what a great looking show !!!!!

  • Is that an Ood sphere at 1:18?

  • sorry its not

  • Someone tell me why I thought this series was going to be a cartoon.

    I'm surprised (happy) it's live-action.

  • Because I thought it was supposed to be one set in outer space?

In other words ditto but see previous for details.

  • Titles and Graphics fine, just dont do the voice like that, get john leeson on board

  • I liked it. But what the hell is up with the accents? We do not speak like that in England (well the majority don't)

  • Was the filming done in Australia? I'm only asking because the show is premiering on an Australian network as well as the Jetix network in the UK.

  • i believe its being filmed in brisbane

  • They're Australians. It's an Australian series.

  • Really?

I had no idea, that is so cool :D

  • Erm... K-9 with an Australian voice... No. Not that I have anything against Australian people but it doesn't seem right for K-9.

Anyway that is not nececeraly going tto be the final voice so... we'll see.

WHERE'S JOHN LEESON WHEN YOU NEED HIM EH??

    Anyway the

  • Yes we need John Leeson, then it might just work :)

  • Word is this is K9 Mark I - Leela's K9. He steps through a temporal rift fighting baddies and "regenerates" after suffering intense damage.....hence the explanation for the change in voice and shape.

  • wow. that looks awful.

  • This is pure awesome.

  • Hey Dan EXCELLENT who's your'e favorite aunty????? starts with DDDDDD xxx

  • hahahahaha daniel you look sick!!!! wooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
