@droctogonapus1223 They both have the same features, except MS 11 has the ability to edit 3D video. Render choices are more complicated, less flexible in MS 11, some option screens won't fit within full windows in MS11, MS11 is still buggy.
@ATVGamerGuy Yes, you can take videos from your HD canon camcorder and edit them with Movie Studio and then upload to YouTube in HD. I do it often, using a Canon HF S100.
@fingerboardsleepover All standard video formats work. But if your camera uses a proprietary format, it probably needs to be converted to avi or mpeg4 before it can be edited.
@Angellafaye21 Sorry, don't know what rainbow text is. But you can import into Vegas text you create in other programs like Photoshop Elements as long as the text has a transparent background.
Avi h264 is not true avi, but a mpeg4 video in a avi wrapper. When Vegas tries to open that kind of avi file using an avi codec, it won't open - because the file is not really an avi file. Convert the file to what it really is - mp4 and it will open in vegas.
Hi Bill, is it okay to import videos to windows when editing with Sony Vegas or is it better to import them directly to Sony Vegas? Does it make a difference on the quality? Thanks.
@jloza98 If the video is on a memory card, I alway copy to windows first, then import into Vegas. If the video is on tape, I import directly into vegas.
I am new to Vegas Studio. I just purchased the Platinum Edition 10. Can you suggest a good beginning vidio tutorial to help me get started. I am also new at film editing. I am wanting to copy video off my DV camera and edit out the bad spots. I love your small tutorials . You explain things so well Thanks
hey does someone know how to fix my problem. With sony vegas 10 platinum hd why cant i play back my project at the full project frame rate..I read there suggestions but when i try to watch my unfinished video on the preview it skips and lags like crazy.. i have a sony handycam hdr cx500v.. and a dell inspiron laptop with an intel core duo2
@BxSQUIRREL To preview HD video in real time requires a fast CPU, lots of RAM, a video card with 1024meg RAM. Windows 7 64 bit helps. Intel i7 would be much faster than intel core duo.
@guerillabill Thanks alot Bill, I figured that bc when I use it on my cousins desktop its previews smoothly.. I guess its time to buy a desktop lol.. Thanks again!
hi bill i was messing about and tried out this idea i got a mov file and put it in sony vegas and it worked like a charm and even in full hd. what shell i do and can you help me with this please
Bill i went on the internet and googled it and downloaded it but it didnt work and then i restarted it(the computer) and it still does not please help
@CGPTVProductions You probably need to find a support forum for the toshiba camileo camera to see what software other owners use to convert the files from the toshiba so they can be used in video editing programs
hello bill. because of your help. i when and bought Sony vegas movie studio 10 production suite. and i have a toshiba camileo h30 camcorder and it films in hd and avi. and i cant put the video from that on sony vegas. please please please please please help me.

@CGPTVProductions The toshiba camileo h30 doesn't record true avi files. It records a proprietary mov format in a avi wrapper. This means when vegas tries to edit the file using the avi codec, it can't open the file - because it is not a true avi file.
A lot of people have the same problem with the camileo h30. You may be able to find a solution if you search google for 'toshiba camileo h30 codec'
Hey Mr. Myers, I just got Sony Vegas for Christmas. I've been playing around with it a little bit and I think I got the basics figured out (mainly thanks to your videos). There is one thing I cannot figure out, however. I have the footage and threw in some edits but if Itry to render the file as an AVI, it will still be a VF file. I have no clue what to do, so help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to convert videos so I can upload them to facebook and youtube. thanks
@Puffzilla777 The vf file is the Vegas project file. When you render the video, it will render to a new video file, in the folder of your choice. So use 'render as', choose filetype .avi, choose the correct template to match your project, and enter a file name. Then click ok.
After the render completes, you'll have a avi file of your video.
Bill, On all your tutorials you are normally showing your computer screen, how do you record whats going on your computer screen, do you have a camera aimed at your screen or do you use some type of software that records what ever your screen is doing?
i just got this soft ware and these tips and tricks helped me a lot:) so thank you for that, i hated the gray vegas colors the white is a lot more easy to look at! but one question, how do you split a clip? without the trimmer window (like what you did at 2:00) thanks a bunch bill, i subbed man:)
Hi Bill. I've been subbed to your channel since I got SV10 in June and just got your DVD on SV from Amazon. It is great and full of a lot of material. Thanks a bunch!
do you think it is worth the upgrade from 9 basic version? I still have troubles getting mp3 to come in -- either lose voice or pix. tried fix a long time ago but then other file types wouldnt work. thanks for continuing to post.
Thanks for the tips. I hope to get this soon as a late Christmas gift and upgrade. There's a package that comes with this, dvd architech, a music editor and bunch of other neat things. Always enjoy your videos. Thumbs up.
You told me to get 10 and not 11.besides the bugs that you said what are some of the differences?

The vf file is the project file.
