Well there is one guy who is pretty good, his name is Harry Watters. I've heard him play on Giant Steps, Flight of the Bumblebee, and other ridiculously difficult songs.

  • dont tt

  • this is music! holy shizzle...lees intro its more scary than every hitchcock movies and as beautiful as michelangelos sculptures...and as funny as loud defines comedies...great and timeless music. thank you lord!!!!!!

  • Never a dull moment with Coltrane. The greatest sax player of all times.

  • At 2:05, is that a trombone?

  • @tetrisclock yes it is!

  • That's some high-class trombone skill then. Never heard anyone play trombone like that before. You wouldn't happen to know the name of the player, would you?

  • @tetrisclock : Curtis Fuller is the trombonist.

  • Thanks!

  • 'Blue Train' has to be my favorite Coltrane album.

  • I found that LIKE button... :O)>

  • 3:30 ish. Lee morgan's stop time. Seamless. tryin to dictate and get it on paper.

  • I just started spinning the B-side of Blue Train and for a moment I thought I had it going on 45 rpm.

  • its not about who has the best solo, its about the recording as a whole, just amazing

  • strong coffee.

  • Two words. Lee Morgan.

  • @runeskyler 5 more words. Hell of a trumpet player.

  • @runeskyler Don't forget Clifford Brown

  • @maatstampij

    I Rememb-- well, you know.

  • AAAAWWWWWWWW 1:17

  • I know Coltrane is the obvious focus here, but man, I can listen to Curtis Fuller's solo here over and over!

  • The best record ever... Hands down..

  • I feel on top of the world whenever i incorporate lee's intro while soloing and not mess up lol

  • @ScreaminDeamon4lyfe Get it absolutely perfect and then find a 100 hundred different ways to use it. I'm paraphrasing Hal Galper right now.

  • Craziest bass line EVER!!!

  • Man Lee Morgan was about his business..OMG...he ran that song...I saw Curtis Fuller gets props for playing that fast on a trombone, but Lee was a beast..

  • yeahh!!!coltrane 4ever!!!!

  • The beginning to Lee Morgan's solo is crazy

  • What's even more crazy - he was 19 in this recording...
