I think the blood banks are getting better at advertising their presence. Houston does have an exceptional ad campaign and a very generous set of TV stations.

@aadesig American donors are buried in T-shirts. They consider them to be free advertising for the blood bank. Last saw one on a big gal that looked like she would hardly miss double reds. They want me for platelets. I'm not sure I want to be a donor 24 times a year.

More courage than I have... I don't look although I was tempted to watch them fill the test tubes last time. Back in the olden days, they did that at the very end but now they do it at the start. They also get more tubes as they check for more things.
