  • I'm so unhappy I can't stop crying

  • Wow! Heard this song on the radio and now surprised to see it was Toby who sang it. I know him for his God-awful redneck hardcore right wing stick a boot in your ass God bless the military songs. Why doesn't he record any nice sentimental and intelliegnt songs like this anymore?

  • Toby and Gordon hit #2 in Billboard, 2-7-98. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week!

  • Lovely cover, one of the best songs by Sting, though.

  • How cute is he, I love him.

  • I vote this the best song for a break up, also sung by Sting.

  • it sure is helping me through my divorce

  • THIS SONG HELPED GET ME THROUGH A DIVORCE IN 96--- THANKS TOBY

  • love this song it beautiful to

  • 10 people are stupid

  • Beautifully done ... love Sting and Toby

  • this song reminds me of when my parents went threw a divorce. .

  • Sting's video has got to be one of the wierdest ever...anyways, problem with Sting's version is he wrote a great country song, but he doesn't realy have the voice for country. It works when he sings with Toby though. It's a great song about a man coming to grips with a crappy situation and doing the right thing.

  • @wolfva EXACTLY !!! STING said i like country music BUT i am english and i look very awful with a hat...... but he was proud when JOHNNY CASH & TOBY KEITH coverd his songs !!!!!

  • Bravo

  • I like Sting's open mindedness (and right-mindedness) and Toby too - one of my favorite songs ever!

  • Bitter song.

  • another great toby song

  • I like Toby Keith version of this song better. I sang this tune a few times in the club.

  • This was one of my theme songs back in the day .... along with 'All My Exes live in Texas' among others .... this is a classic :-)

  • nice attempt killing a great song War Cheerleader.

Luckily it's author has more talent in his nut sack than you do in your entire Bush luvin' body.

Sting really couldn't have a clue who this war mongerer was...

    lame

  • sting is much much better

  • Yes I played this song a few times during my divorce, too.

  • my heard my dad playing this song after my mom and him got separated. but its a good song.

  • @Youdontknowyet awww... it's a beautiful song.

  • I sung this song at Kareokee and it was badass. awesome song with the both of them. I think Toby's version sounds better than Sting by himself

  • @kenster153 it's better, isn't it? it's way better. Sting sounds too...casual, he really sounds happy. But Toby's got some blues in his voice.

  • @belovedpeartree Toby does bring something different to it, but for Sting sounding too casual? Stings lyrics end up with him being at peace with the situation. Altho of course bitter sarcasm in the title!

  • Good.

  • I guess it helpped a few of us over a divorce..... I bought it and listened to it for a year..... !!! Brings back sad memories for me too,.So all I can say Is Thank you for your song!!

  • I think Sting's version is the better known one, but Toby's vocal on this one has such much more raw emotional power...how he stretches out the verses...TonyAcoustic is right....there are some songs that can bring tears to your eyes while you're singing, you don't need to be sad...there is just such a beauty to the melody.

  • @diamondbackseye I agree. This is the version I remember. If I had heard Sting's original version first, I don't think I would have remembered it.

  • Damn this one is hard to sing without crying. Great song both versions.

  • Actually the "original" isn't by Sting, sting and Toby Keith worked on this song together, Sting was looking to do a song in the "american" country market this one came out before stings solo version......that is why he sings back up on it.

  • Comment removed

  • toby keith is great!

  • It`s not a question of "better by Sting" or something.

For me this version is different and that`s it.

    I really like both.

  • I like the original by Sting a little better I think.

  • good job, but original is better.

  • @VALlewellyn whays that?? please explain (i am trying to have a real youtube conversation w/o name calling etc. just a digustion)

  • @TheMuenzer Sure! I think that sometimes we get so wed to a version that strikes us in a personal and meaningful way that another version is hard to accept.....a bit like when a kid gets a new step parent! Also, I am English and have been listening to Sting for years. We don't typically get exposure to Country music so it makes it a litttle difficult to get jiggy with Toby Keith on this one. Strange contradiction as Sting is clearly trying Country music!!

  • And i still aint done with That mission

  • I love this song it took me a while too get it

But i got it now(: Im a blonde. lol but im hott.

I sang this song all day today so idecided too look it

UP! Just Out of the random... I havent hears it in a while

Last time was in the truck with my ex... Hes an ASS

MICHEAL KNIGHT> STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!!!!!!!

BAD BAD BAD!!!!! Hes a CHEATER!!! but i got that fucker Back(:

  • OMG what a horrible vibrato. Does he sing like that all the time?

  • Whoa, way to completely ruin a perfectly terrific Sting song Toby.... thumbs down.

  • Going through a bad one myself, and this offers a kind of sad consolation ("everybody's got to leave the darkness sometime") . Great piece of Sting writing w/fantastic performance by Toby. I usually try to listen later on days when I don't have custody of my little girls, as Dr. Jack usually likes to sit in with me for a couple rounds and a few tears.......

  • god damn this song makes me cry

  • This song is sad, it is hard to go through any divorce or breakup. It will really make you think.

  • damn good song, hurts when ya know youll never be a daddy, but still, the song is a great one!!

  • wow, such a great song. Toby Keith is likemy favorite singer and role model. I love all of his songs! They have such meaning for this country, and his very emotional song for our hearts. <3

  • Seven weeks have passed now since she left me

She shows her face to ask me how I am

She says the kids are fine and that they miss me

Maybe I could come and baby-sit sometime

She says, "Are you O.K.? I was worried about you

Can you forgive me? I hope that you'll be happy."

I'm so happy that I can't stop crying

I'm so happy I'm laughing through my tears

  • my fav toby song, hes awesome, sings from the heart

  • <3 this song, Toby and Sting. This song can get anyone through a bad break up.

  • sorry i just can't get behind him singing this song... Sting has such a unique voice and tone about him that this version just doesn't hold as much emotion for me as the original...

  • @Lenexa000Rose your crazy i don't know what you are thinking. Toby is the best singer I've ever heard, and he suppourts our country. His songs prove that. and, toby sings it better moron!

  • @9convers6 This is coming for a new age wanna be I assume, but I still have decided that I am going to educate you since no one else has obviously. This country is a sinking ship that doesn't need to be supported, because of things like the oil spill and the fact that our government is screwing us all over. Sting breathes life into his music, and you can't change that. If you had ever even listened to the original you wouldn't be defending this song right now. It's nothing more than a cover.

  • @Lenexa000Rose

Nicely said. I cant comment about the country since am Indian but yeah the original is something else, not to say that this isnt ok. its exactly that. OK. :)

  • @Lenexa000Rose yes but thats how people appreciate other singers or songs which have touched them just like it touched you. they try to sing it with the same feeling and passion. and toby keith will agree with you that sting has sung it better. but toby keith is a decent country singer.

  • @killintymm I know that he is, because I remember being a little elementary school girl 10 years ago, and loving his music... I still do.... I'm sure I'm being bias because of the fact that I grew up listening to the original, but that's just what I think...

  • this song makes me think of my ex who i miss so much and i cry everytime i think bout how we split up after 7 months its been almost a year now and i still cry on a daily basis because of our seperation :( i miss her so much

  • great video and great song!:)

  • one of my fav TK songs.......describes the ordeal of divorce with real emotion from a man's prospective..........TK is awesome!!!

  • I love this song. The story of my life this past year. Its gotten me through some rough times

  • this song is good country style too, even the sting version has many country elements to it.

  • @rick4777 dude you got that right!

  • Come on people let's not argue over whose version is better. All music is good. Toby obviously likes Sting's songs or he wouldn't have covered one. Hell, even Johnny Cash covered one. Ever hear of "I Hung My Head"..... yeah..... Sting song. I know Sting was honored to have big country stars cover his music.

I am a huge Sting fan and I think both Toby and Johnny did a great job.

  • Toby Keith keep doing what you doing, making people understand.......

  • Oh I Love this song so much......

    I'm soooo happyyyyyyyyy ♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • Love Toby, but this is a Sting song

  • it is a sting song they did a duet with this song!

  • My favorite Toby Keith song! Thanks for sharing this!

  • Toby keith rulz

and who the hell is sting haterz

  • I think Hal Ketchum could have written this song and isnt given enough credit for his talent!

  • No disrespect to Toby, but Sting is 100x more talented than him. Sting has a stronger, more versatile voice, he's a better songwriter, a better musician.

  • Yeah he's a better song writer? Better go back and look. Sting did alot of other peoples stuff. Song writer ???

  • yeah!

  • great song

  • great song. I love both versions.

if you say anything bad about sting = you are really saying you don't understand basic music, so you're opinion is thrown out the window. that's like sayin' you don't like Paul McCartney and Elvis. just a different era.

love both. be cool folks! it doesn't matter... obviously Toby liked Sting's song himself, or he wouldn't have covered it. Toby's a great musician.

and remember, "everybody's got to leave the darkness sometimes... "

  • I don't like sting taste in music is a matter of opinion. A person could like the of grunts in succession of each i personally like this version better. Sting's music video was funny but just plain weird.

  • I like both versions!!!!!

  • Even Sting would probably admit that this is the better version. Sting said about this song "it's a country song anyway."

Toby Keith's voice just seems to ring truer to the lyrics. Sting is great, but this version is really heart wrenching for anyone going through this kind of situation.

  • stings version is alot better

  • Sting and Toby both play in this version, you all realize that, right?

  • I definitely like Toby Keith version

of this song. He lets his feelings out in this song.

  • Sting sounds like he has a cold!

Cool version of the song tho

  • Yeah, he sounds terrible.

  • I Love That Song !!!!

  • he says it all...

  • Better than Sting? um no BUT Tody does this song in a way no one else could. Its a GREAT song.

  • Toby Keith is so much better than Sting. Toby's voice is a lot stronger stronger.

  • Yeah but Sting has meaning in his lyrics and is more popular!

  • Not really, your the loser!! HAHA Sting and The Police made so many milestones in the industry, Sting is awesome, toby is alright but Sting made and wrote this fucking song you dick!!!

  • Thats why hes a musical icon, an artist who sells out, and played with one of the worlds most famous bands huh?

  • disagree am not saying whos better but definitely sting is great.. his voice is different and has more meaning.. this one seems like hes just singing while looking at the screen..

  • Toby is Baby Huey..an asshole when you meet him.(And yes I have) Sting is best on his own version.

  • man this song has so much power. brings a tear every time. 21/m/maine

  • Another song that helped me get over my divorce... " Saw a friend of mine I was worried about you..."

  • @Tripleggg1959 i can relate spent a few nights drowning myself in jack daniels to this song during my divorce.

  • ya thats a great song, Love Sting

  • It's been a while since I heard this one. leave the darkness , laugh and smile.

  • This song is my life with my kids, God bless them. Seven years I haven't stopped crying yet.

  • I feel your pain too...

  • This song just puts me in a good mood. Makes me want to grab a beer and watch the Texas sunset with my twin boys.

  • I'm only 14, and listening to this song made me cry. It hurts to know that the pain i went through can be even worse.

  • If you really are 14 and you understand like you say you do.......wow. That kinda warms my heart.

  • love it...been wanting to hear this song for 2 years...no lie. Thanks very much. I used to have cd..got ruined. TK at his best

  • i love the Sting cameo. It's the ultimate respect to the man who wrote the song

  • Great Post! A very under rated song. Really powerful.

  • Terrible..it hurts :(
