  • @thenixter101

It's a Tegu, not an iguana. Iguanas are plant eaters while the Tegu eats both plants and small rodents.

  • your offering pleases me.......

  • VOLCANO GOD NOT AMUSED

  • tegus are awesome (tameness of an iguana combined with the ferocious hunting instincts of a monitor), but since they require a hibernation period for perfect health i'll never own one

i just hate the idea of not seeing my pet in the months where i'm at home the most...so monitors it is for me!

  • reptiles are my favorite animal:) I just rescued a turkish gecko some kid threw out:( poor guy. hope he makes it.

  • Hey, I'm thinking of getting one, do they go to the bathroom a lot?

  • woah!!!, tegus look like a hybrid of an iguana and a monitor lizard, they're awesome, how can I persuade my parents to let me get one???I need your help!...

  • @Teeklip Showing them this video! Haha! Good luck and thanks for the comment. =)

  • @gebris353 how much is a tegu when he is a baby?

  • @Teeklip dude im sure you will but please read up before you buy. i hate it when people impulse buy and have a dead reptile within a week. i have literally read 7 whole websites on tegu care. and i have the same problem. my parents wont let me get one no matter what. i even told them id pay for everything including the food

  • @hypnotoad2882 yes I sure will :D I've already built a cage for one exept there's no pet store here in wales that sells them :( I have contacted the owner of a pet store though and he said that he'd let me know if they get some in :DD all I have to do is wait..

  • She is beautiful. Nice video. Great to see Gu's that are that tame. LOL!

  • Man's best friend does not only apply to dog's

  • Beautiful! 5 stars!!!

  • is it columbian or argentine?

  • @Aughal She is an Argentine Red Tegu despite of the colors shown by the camera. =)

  • @gebris353 that is not a red tegu...

  • @kurvaface123 I'm Argentinian and see them every day as you may see a bird where you live, trust me, it's a red one. =)

  • @gebris353 HE OR SHE WHICH IS IT

  • @CLIFFTRIP1 It's a girl but we realized about it too late hence the name haha!

  • She is very beautiful. I plan on getting one but I'll be doing a lot of research so I can give them the things they need. :D

  • that is so cool! i want one now lol

  • I love Juancho!

  • oh she's just like a puppy so sweet

  • seems like tegus can really survive on both vegetation and animals!

  • thats kool

  • do you feed your tegu everyday of the week

  • @roccet666 Hi! No, usually every other day but it depends on how much exercise she has done!

  • THankyou once more for your friendly clip. My students can't get enough of them. Muchisimas gracias

  • that's a good way to get some nice facial scars once he's a bit bigger :)

  • @biologyfuckyeah Don't worry, she's been with me for more than 12 years already! =)

  • awww he is sooo cute.

  • So sweet. We sometimes feed our tegu with chopsticks but have never actually attempted with our hands or mouth. We have to try that! You do not de-seed the cherries though? Great video!

  • @chueychuey Thanks! And good point! We do de-seed them, that's why they are already cut! We let both halves together tho so we can feed Juancho easily. =)

No quiere comer y me preocupa. ¿Què me recomiendas hacer?

Saludos!

  • beautiful animal, cant believe how calm and careful she is when she eats

  • Awe... Juancho is so sweet! I would love to get a Tegu :)

  • @OMGmiieyez Glad you like her!! =)

  • thats so fucking cool, thats why i love tegus!

  • juancho is awesome

  • Bieutiful Tegu, hopefully when I get one she's gonna be a sweet as yours!

  • what an awesome exemplar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SHE REALLY CUTE

  • Fucking CUTE!<3

  • if i could get my sav to eat fruit, i would be one happy man

  • haha she is so gentel nice lizard dude makes me want one =P i cant beilive i thought it was a monitor lizard they have much longer tails and narrower noses

  • smart and cute juancho ^^

  • best song in the worldxD

  • Oh sorry dude, must be my screen settings aswell haha! .... she really does look black and white on my screen, feel like an idiot now.

But actually im pretty surprised, usually you find Red Tegu's arent as tame as Black and White ones. You've done a good job with her!

  • @YummiestOrphan Hey no problem buddy! And thanks again! =)

  • Hey buddy absolutely love your vids, you have one sweet Tegu.

I noticed you said to matejoto that Juancho is a "Tupinambis Rufescens", well he/she isnt.

A Tupinambis Rufescens is a Red Tegu. You have a "Tupinambis Merianae", a black and white tegu.

Just thought id let you know :) keep makings videos.

  • @YummiestOrphan Hi! Glad you like them! Juancho is actually a red tegu, not that easy to see in the video since she is the "brownish" kind of red more common for females, not the "bright red" one, besides the poor light on the camera doesn't help neither. I use to have some really good pics on her on a forum but they moved and bye bye gallery. =)

  • Oh wow this is amazing.

  • I've always wanted a herbivore monitor, this is close enough

  • Dude, very impressive, you must have had her since she was super little! Please be careful, I know you know how to judge her body language, but as she gets bigger I wouldn't pull this shit if you enjoy having your nose on your face

  • @humbil5 She is 12 years old with me so don't worry, she is the kindest tegu ever! =D

  • Thats ridiculously cute!!

  • what animal is this?

    i mean the name?

or juancho is the race's name?

    so cute!

  • @matejoto Hi she is a tegu or tupinambis rufescens, his name is Juancho. =)

  • @gebris353 oh thanks :D

  • awee!! adorable Tegu!

  • so cute!

  • that is awesome i wanna get one now!

  • can i get a tegu in australia?

  • @MaltezaPleazaa Hi! I really dont know, I'm from Argentina and we have them here, and so do people in USA although the are more expensive... you should contact a local pet shot but there are many other reptiles in Australia pretty similar, arent they? =)

  • awsome. where can u get a tegu? just wondering

  • @BOAD10100 You can probably get them in a pet shop or with a tegu breeder. Here they are in the wild. =)

  • okay this is a stupid question but do they have teeth and do they bite? lol

  • Yes to the three things haha, but in captivity they dont use to bite, mine for example never did but they have some very nice and sharp teeth!

  • This is really sweet. What a sweetheart.

    (the reptile, lol!)

  • Haha, thanks! xD

  • I thought these things were strictly carnivarous. You learn something new everyday.

  • that thing is awesome

  • This is a great video and I love it! I am currently looking for either a b&w or red. Temperment wise are reds the same as B&W's? Also did you start hand feeding your tegu (outside of enclosure) since a baby?

  • About temperament I think reds are more calm than B&W but not sure, Columbians are usually more aggressive tho. The hand feeding started a day all bowls were dirty and didnt have time to wash one so cut a banana and used my hand opened like feeding a horse (so they dont bite) and she took the pieces so gently that I dont need to use bowls anymore except for raw egg. =)

  • Nice. You give lessons on how to train tegus? LOL

  • Do you have any TV connection? We may have a deal here haha. xD

  • This is fucking awesome.

  • i agree with phantom, great video, great music, great tegu. the music is some of the best ive heard in a long time.

  • Thx! Glad you like it! =D

  • great tegu, great music, great video!

  • Thx! =)

  • Cool!

Cualquier cosa me avisás! Saludos y suerte! =)

  • WOW thats so incredible! Mani really want to get a tegu! Can the food get expensive ( the fruits and fegies)? Great video!!

  • Not at all, they actually are part of my regular food and just take some for her, half a banana, an egg, some cherries... and so onm you only need good space. =)

  • wow thats awesome! Now i really want a male argentine black and white tegu! How big and what kind of enclosure do you keep your beauty ?

  • This one is a female red so they dont go as big as black and white males (kinda bottom and top of the scale actually) but I just have an enclosure for her to sleep at night, the whole day freeroams the house and garden! If you can get them an 8x4x4 ft enclosure that would be great. =)

  • How Big of an enclousre would a male red need?

  • About that 8x4x4 ft would be good, the bigger you can get it the better tho. =)

  • Yeah. Thanks for the advice im going to start to build myself a 8x4x4 ft soon!

  • Great and good luck! =D

  • She takes the food so gently out of the hand!

    She is so gorgeous!!!

  • Seeing Juancho get a kiss on the nose literally made me tear up a little. It just makes me so happy to see reptiles getting love, too! Almost everyone I know hates them and I can't figure out why.

Thanks for this awesome vid and reminding me that there are still people out there who respect and adore reptiles for the wonderful critters they are.

  • It's just like you say, ppl just fear what they dont understand or looks different. Glad you like it, every animal is beautiful in its own way. =)

  • are they good pets like do they bite and stuff?

  • Have you watched the video? You can get them that tamed! =)

  • lovely lizard ive been lookin out for 1 this while finding it hard getting a baby!!

  • Check for "thetegu" and "tegutalk" forums, you may find what you need, both owners are breeders. =)

  • Juancho is the most adorable tegu I have ever seen.

    aguante juancho

  • where did you get this one......how much was it

  • Hi I got this in Argentina (where I live) but I'll send you where you can get them from in the States. =)

  • I'd like to see this trick performed again when it gets bigger. I assume they will keep growing if you keep feeding it. DO they come with blue eyes and other coloured scales? Rhetorically speaking.

  • Hi, well being a girl in captivity for 12 years means she wont grow up anymore so this is it. Feeding her on hand is usual, the mouth video was just to show how tame she is. They dont come with other eye color but they can be red (bright red or brownish like Juancho), black and white (green while baby) or albino (usually called blue tegu). =)

  • aww hes soo gentle :)

  • wow she's gorgeous and has so much trust in you! its great to see

  • hey, i mite get a small/baby tegu soon, and dyu have any tips u have to get them to like you, i mean just looking at these videos i can tell u guys share a special bond, i already have a LG, so i kno the basics for taking care of lizards, and ive been on the internet studying tegus lol.....

  • Great! Just start slowly, let him know you are there and after he gets used start touching him and after all holding him. Dont make fast moves around him and dont feed him in his enclosure so he doesnt become territorial. Also try not giving him alive rodents cause his instinct is always there and may differ from the tame lizard you want! Good luck! =D

  • This tegu is so lovable and well cared for!

  • Thanks! Juancho appreciates it! =)

  • Are you sure that's safe? :/

  • It is in my case since as you can see she is very tame, but cant recommend it for other tegus since if they bite your lip, they probably rip it off.

  • He is TOO cute!

  • My father? Joke haha, thanks! =)

  • this is so cool. i heard argentines are more agressive than reds, is this not true? doesnt look like it!

id loveeee you but limited space right now...

ANYONE WHO HAS A BLUE TOUNGED SKINK COMMENT ME, and tell me a little about them! thats my next purchase...

  • Hi! Well you are a bit confused here: first Juancho is a red female, and both B&W and red are Argentine, the one considered more agressive than the others is the B&W Colombian one but with some patiente they come as good as the Argentine ones. Hope this helps and yeah, they do need good space so better wait or go for the skink! Good luck! =)

  • hey man nice vid hey how come u havent been makeing videos in a wile ???

  • Thanks! It's a long story: college, job, shoulder surgery, and she is hibernating now (It's winter in Argentina) but I'll try to get some in the next months when she wakes up. =)

  • I love your tegu he is awesome, and so sweet! Do tegus always hibernate no matter what or do you choose whether or not to hibernate them?

  • Well it's in his nature to hibernate so I dont bother her, if she is awake he can go out, if not cause of the cold weather she choose to hibernate and I let her alone. =)

  • i wonder if tegus can fit a ten gallon tank?

  • Hi, I dont think so, they really love free roaming but if you want to get them in a tank you will need a much more bigger. =)

  • they get WAYYY to big for a 10 gallon tank. the minimum for one of these guys is 6footx2foot tanks but u should build a custom enclosure for his benifit and its cheaper then glass

  • I love your Tegu! I want one now! This is an argentine, right?

  • Thanks! And yes, she is and Argentine Red one (browninsh kind). =)

  • GOOD Movie !

  • Thanks! =D

  • sleep*

  • well i have a black and white tegu and its its just a baby is it true that they slep all winter? also i love your vids :)

  • Nice! And yeah they do, it's called "hibernation". =)

  • Really cute lizard! I love how tame some tegus can get! But I doubt I have room for one when I already have an iguana. Still, yours is great!

  • Thanks! =D
