Dear "Sensei" kaichO

whether or not it is true that you are a sensei & have achieved many high grades in different karate styles; i am sorry to respectfully inform you that no matter how good your karate is you have no right to own these belts as your karate etiquette appears to be nonexistent.

all karate members should be supportive of eachother & not criticise other styles or be so disrespectful.

also all karates have to have evolved from somewhere, no karate is the same as the 1st.

evolution is progression and making improvement in the positive direction.

shotokan has evolved and got better through scientific research and development, understanding of biomechanics and the involvement of the JKA technical committee. GKR hasn't evolved. it's taken two styles, watered them down, and through time and poor quality instruction it got worse. you can't get someone who has been doing something for 3 months to teach others.

in shotokan the stances and katas have changed, it has become more powerful and explosive. gkr will never get better unless it has good quality instructors, not money grabbing amateurs. people get their blackbelts and it gives them a false sense of confidence, one day when they find out their techniques don't work for real - it's a big wake up call.

you've got to get good at something yourself before teaching it to others. you can't teach it after 3 months because you don't understand it yourself. you don't get someone that's just passed their a-level becoming an a-level teacher.

you don't pass your driving test and start teaching others. you have to be 21 and have held a licence for min 3 years. why? to gain experience in order to pass it on.

so why after 3 months they become instructors?????

you say that I can call you sensei, however you would have to earn that respect. Martial Arts is not about slagging off other MA's but showing consideration. You think that what you do is the best however I suggest that it is best for you.

Being petty is in my eyes no way for a martial artist to be seen. So when you can be a bit more understanding of a new and relatively young form of karate, then maybe I will call you sensei.

Every style has its pro's & cons - I've trained in a couple over the years & i'm now with GKR. I'll be sticking with them too.

Yes they may flaws, but by far they are the most supportive, encouraging & friendly group i've trained with

Just let me say this. I have been "practising" MA's for more than 43 years in traditional Okinawan arts, not made up styles. I hold a couple of REAL titles and earned every grade in Okinawa, but you can call me Sensei ;-)

Kaich0 you are an unevolved simian. Traditional styles eh? Well a tradition has to start somewhere and in the beginning Okinawan arts were new (ie not traditional) & being made up ie evolving. GKR is the latest example of the evolution of karate. Nothing stays still, look at golf. the small ball was the norm then the Yanks introduced the bigger ball and now that is all that is used. You really need help. You are not an honourable man. you are a disgace to karate

what an uncanny ability the GKR "masters" have so they can change what it is considered a traditional Goju Ryu kata into a "GKR-we do what we want-form" Poor at his best, I couldn't see real application properly executed, then again, -what do they know?

Yes indeed. Anything by Higaona Morio, Goshi Yamaguchi or people from the Jundokan, Seigokan or other traditional Goju Ryu schools

for one thing kata in most cases is a symbolic form of the style, "showing off" if u will the speed/power of its practitioners. it is also a good way of practising the basics in a manner which requires more dedication and ability than simply throwing punches and kick in kumite
