Saw Stu and the Skids way back in about 1978 at the old Glasgow Apollo, what a great night that was! I will still be playing Stu's songs for ever, so many of them bring back great memories. RIP, never forgotten Stu.
I was 15 when i first heard Stuart and the band sing "Flame of the west" ..one day later i bought Steeltown and from that on Big Country have been my inspiration....im now 40 now and nothing has ever got close to the pure inspiration of this band...."It's just a shadow of the man you should be, like a garden in the forest that the world would never see, you have no thought of answers only questions to be filled...and it feels like hell"
yead I got scared to dance in the loft, I cant bring myself to throw it away.. even though I got shot of , hendrix, cure, dammed, banshees, ect, scared to dance stayed in the loft.. fondly wiped off the dust and put it back..
Was walking down the main street in Coralejo in Futentura in the Canary Islands when I saw a newstand with the Daily Record headlines of Stuarts death.
Went and got pissed and cried and cried.
That moment when I saw those headlines, will live with me forever.
I like to feel sexy....knowing someone is watching me ..wanting me...turns me on!BADLY! Once a Skids Fan........Always a Skids Fan...what a legacy to Stuart Adamson to think that I continue to play your records today. I was 16 when I saw you play at Glasgow Apollo those many years ago....I just turned 44....the best Stuart...the best!
All I could possibly add to what you just said mate is ...I went to T in the Park last year to see Jobson and the lads give their all for the last time ...and all my 15 year son kept saying was "bet you wish big Adamson was up there" It broke my fucking heart ...as a man I have recently "met" said ..."...the best!"
I don't cry....so what is with this warm salty water running down my face. So sad! A musical journey compressed into a 20 minute video, You did a brilliant job Doug

It's tempting to say U2 copied this band, but they never came close. Stuart wrote real melodies and lyrics. Bono never did either.
