This is one of my all time Drifters hit. I was 13 the year it was released and it brings back many fond memories of that period. Many thanks for posting it.
Johnny is the one lead vocalist who sang chart hits for both eras of Drifters. With the old Drifters he sang the original "Ruby Baby" and Buck Ram-written "Fools Fall In Love" (Buck was The Platters manager), in the '50s. He came back in the '60s with the new Drifters (which sprang from a group called "The 5 Crowns") and sang "Under The Boardwalk", "Sand In My Shoes", and all the hits they released out of England.
It's a shame how they used to just take records out of print....I have actually looked for this since I was a teenager. Case closed...I can't say how old I am. Beautiful. I used to listen to this in my kitchen when on dishwashing duty and plotting on how I was going to a particular dance. Thanks.
@ENACODNOM Hi...you won't find too many of the original Drifter recordings on YouTube since they won't accept about 95% of them, and I was shocked they took this one...Nocaro
@Nocaro You're right, still I managed to find some of them, especially those that were released as singles. But since a couple of months, I collect from Deezer what I cannot find in videos. After all, what counts is the music, right? Images are just a nice bonus.

Hi Nocaro! Long time no see! I am bookmarking The Drifters. Great group, but uneven too, because they were changing lead singers as often as shirts!
