Great video friend!, thanks for the tutorial, this will help me get through a uni assignment that much quicker. I was about to start doing that nightmare method you were talking about haha.
good stuff. Im working on a short right now. It has 4 characters. Gonna be a bitch! Hope to help other weekend users proud. I like your other vids also. Keep it up unpicked2!
lol i so made the ball but i cant figure out how to view the rendered animation. like the ball in the rendered photo looks pimp as shit now how do i view it with the animation?
My marking menu while on polys doesn't show vertices!!! instead I have vertex and vertex face, is no the same thing though, you muve a vertex point and is gonna drag along about two more points
Maya 2009 is criptic please help where are the vertices.
It does seem like it's not going to be really straight forward to get precise placement of clips in the Trax editor though, because there's just the eyeball it and try to slide it there method of moving around the clips, but I'll see.
AWESOME DUDE! You saved my sanity for some eye blinking I was trying to do. I still think it's dumb the there's an default offset just in there that the user has to deactivate, 9 times out of 10 it's just not going to be useful to have an "Auto-generated" offset just plugged in there right from go. Anyway character poses are something I'll be getting into.
Great video! I have a problem though I keep running into the issue where I do everything and have made a clip, but theres no animation in the clip? Or I duplicate the 1st clip and copy it into the time line but it still does nothing, or I just see the fingers moving. Now I made sure all the curves where selected but still..its irritating me lol
When i click on the persp/tracks button, it sends me to the same screen, but it doesn't show the yellow bar with the 100%, how can i make it so that it shows up?
Hey there. I like your method of emplaining things...it's easy to grasp. Problem is, I have no idea about most of what you're referring to! I'm dying to get started doing animation like this, as I draw a lot and am proficient at photoshop, so I figured this would be an easy transition..WRONG! I can't find any basic tutorials...Where to start, What programs I should become aquainted with, basic term definitions, and just a basic outline of how to get started. Know of any good resources?
do you see the guy that commented 3 weeks ago on this video, RyanTaylor3d, he has a series of videos that go through the basics, and he can explain stuff alot better than me, so try his videos, and see if they help you.
I have set my clips to absolute but when I´m animating the whole thing to move forward the control curves are behaving like they are relative. Do you have any idea what the source of this problem is?
Hmm, are you trying to do further animating to the character set after you create the clip? That can sometimes throw off your animation. Deselect the character set after you create the clip. That might fix it.
if you download the personal learning edition from Autodesk, there are basic tutorials included for basic navigation, etc... if you need anything further, search the net - there are great tutorials all over the place.
Oh, by the way: The Trax-Editor is interesting for blending between different Animations. A much easier way to cycle Animations is in the Graph-Editor: Curves->Post Infinity->Cycle (you should activate View->Infinity).
I've done that before, I kind of like just making a trax better, because most of the time, I want to blend the animation into a jump, or stand, or something. Well, take it easy.
Thanks man, you saved me a lot of work. I nearly got crazy about the offset and didn´t know where to change it.For any reason there is not much information about it online. Thanks a lot.
Sorry, Man. I don't know how to do that. I'll have to look around to try to find a tutorial on that, myself. But If I every figure it out, I'll do a tutorial on it. Well, take it easy.
Well, when I made larry, I just started with a polygon cube, and extracted faces and everything until I got it like I wanted it. That might be the next video I make.
You just solved the problem I had for 3days!! Thank you so much-☆

you need to do a batch render to render the frames individually which can then be played in a sequence to form the animation

cool stuff. not enough people use the trax editor. it's so useful.
Head over to my youtube account or website for the start of an entire series of 50+ vids covering Maya from interface to advanced topics if you like.

Yeah, I use it a lot when I'm animating.
I'll have to go check out your videos. Thanks for watching, man.
unpicked1 3 years ago
if people doesn't use trax, how do they then make a character walk? I mean, r they animating like you do in stop motion?
tarrizzzzzzzzz 3 years ago
you can do loop infinity and it repeats the animation curve. so if it's a cycle you can still see it repeat and loop.
