so what problems have accrued while you ownership of the car. and how much you pay for one. im looking at a 1986 m-b 190e 2.3 16v with 101k and no maintainance papers. but the car is clean and look new with no leaks and the suspension doesn't sag how much is it worth
@bishelia In all honesty I've ran in to a lot of overheating issues due to a stuck thermostat but that was a easy fix. Fuel pump issues yours is a 86 so it only has one fuel pump mine had 2. The problems i came in to was getting the car to pass smog in California. Other than that I have no issues. I spend most of my money on preventive maintenance. Timing chain, valve adjustment, suspension work, new OEM parts, replacing old stuff.
@bishelia I have an 86 turbo diesel 6, I suggest you get it instead of the reg 2.3 4 cylinder, the torque is retarded not the mention that it still has a better suspension then most cars out there, mine has 160k, which is nothing for a diesel engine, benz always delivers on a quality product.
Just take off the 8 bolts and tap the corners of valve cover to loosen it with a rubber hammer. The hardest part is being careful to not mess up the hoses near the M in Mercedes and B in benz. The hoses are old and prone to cracking/braking. Also take care not to drop anything inside. While your at it you might as well change the valve cover gasket after you paint it. The paint is fine and hasn't changed.
That was fresh paint the day i filmed it since then i haven't put anything back on. Due to material used to make the headers (stainless steel) no matter what you do it the paint will slowly come off. Right now i would say it's a dull/ruff Grey with small black spots creeping up.
Yeah i had it sandblasted for $50. Little did i know i could have used aircraft stripper from homedepo. I used engine paint from kragen. The engine is clean but not the best.
I have a 1989 190e, Recently I been having problems with My ABS, the light turns on after 3 min. and it lowers my RPM and if I dont keep pumping the gas it eventually dies.if I turn off my car and turn it back on, the ABS light is still on and does the same. Help?
One of two things, either your carb is dirty (which can be fixed easily by taking it out and cleaning it with carb cleaner) or you may have a relay problem, which is not so complicated, you just have to find out which one is the one doing it.
The big white fan in the middle has a metal part that should sit flush to the pulley. While trying to remove the fan to fix the car i bent the metal part now it doesn't sit flush.
Was looking so much forward to some rev up =/

I driften one of these in D1, as long as you turbo it for more power it will drift fine! No autos!

@BMW620 Yeah man. I don't think High Heat Aluminum paint works on something that hot.

Thanls for your reply Chris. The rest of the engine bay looks clean. Did you paint the valve cover? That has started to peel in mine.

How hard was to take the cover out and how is the engine paint holding up these days?
Your bay looks spotless compared to mine. I just haven't got the chance to get to it yet.

@MercsDude There is no carb on a Mercedes 190e. They're fuel injected. What a dope!
eddrum100 4 days ago
@dgreatll You need to check the Over Protection Relay. First see if the fuse on the top is blown.
eddrum100 4 days ago
Is that an exhaust leak or did you just paint the headers?
viggoM35 2 years ago
Fresh hi-temp paint on stainless steel headers
