  • We made straight 1s on this song at contest

  • is this the crossroads band?

  • I played this my senior yr in high school. I had the 1st trombone part. Great job overall just couldnt hear the trombones at certain parts

  • they did really well...im playing 2nd cornet but should be playing 1st...=(

  • hah. euphoniums missed their part at 0:48 and came in late

  • psh. XD i have this music its so easy

  • wow they were really off tempo and they are huge... our band is 1/3 of the size but we sound a lot better

  • WOAH!!! I'm playing this now in school as a sophomore, and it's quite an entertaining tune. We are not playing it nearly as fast as this ensemble is... i think that the increased speed of tempo at the beginning takes away from some of the melodies found in the middle section- but that's my opinion

  • wow their trombones sucked you couldn't even hear them except for the high notes! In the words of my teacher: WEEINE HUT JUNIORS! lol awesome woodwinds though, great song over all ^^

  • Our Smyphonic band is playing this! For District. Clarinets Rule :)

  • gay

  • Thats not something you should say about yourself on the internet. There are alot of people out there that make fun of homos.

  • So much fun for low brass =D and flute its a bit trick though i can do it though =) tuba flute player makes no sense

  • so i play trombone flute clarinet bass clarinet and piccolo. its ok. haha.. i played clarinet on this though

  • played this my freshman year. now Im a senior in highschool. good times

  • um "Colibob" its a EUPHONIUM :P

this is an amazing piece...euphs are the shit!!!!!

  • It's either, Baritone is just a more musical name for Euphonium.

  • this is super helpful, i can listen to it while i'm practicing it. thnks so much! you guys sounded good by the way, better than our woodwind section will. can you believe our ban only has 3 clarinets and like 18 flutes?!?!? congrats anyhow.

  • My band-

    2 trumpets

    5 clarinets

    4 flutes

    1 french horn

    1 baritone horn

    1 alto sax

    1 bass clarinet

    -_- so small!

  • yikes! i would be so scared to mess up! my band: 6 trumpets about 15 clarinets 8 flutes 5 french horns 2 baritone 4 alto sax 1 bass clarinet 5 tubas 4 baritones 4 trombones 10 percussion 1 director 1 assistant director 1 student teacher lots to worry about! hehehe :P
  • There are not that many people in it, but we all play realllly well. And the french horn and I are literally the best in the state. (All-state band ftw)

  • We have a bigger band but one director, an he has a Concert and Symphonic Band. But the maturity level in Symphonic is So-So(It was horrible) So, Yikes :P

  • =( that sux... i feel bad . i know i send our trumpets to you!!!! lol

  • theres middle shchool all state bands??

  • phasing issues.

  • BARITONE YOU MISSED YOUR SOLO

  • We got surperior on this song, 8th grade

  • i auditioned for my symphonic band with this song...im in sixth grade :]

  • This brings back memories of freshman year in band....Now I'm graduating.

  • We're playing this piece in my band, and I'm the only oboe player. I really like it. I think it has a really nice oboe part. :)

  • BARITONE COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think it's more "woodwinds shhhh"

they are playing too loud for the baritone to be heard above the rest of the band

  • we have that same problem

  • In my opinion, this is the best recording on youtube of Overture for Winds by, Carter.

  • i'm not sure if its the recording..but some of the part sounds...way off...nvm its the band

  • I was second oboe in this band (not sure why I was on the outside of the row...)

This was the hardest piece for me, but now that I've improved this past year and a half it obviously seems way easier. :D greatProxy-Connection: keep-alive

  • Wow! they play better than the students @ CAPA! I play this everyday, and I still have trouble on those 3rd octave parts starteing @ measure I

  • yeah i have to agree stay together. our band played this and theyre all 7th graders and like 10 8th graders. thats it. we also got superior rating and honor band.

  • Last year All-State band was better than this year (last year meaning Bruce Yurko year)... this year I was in Eliott, and the music was kinda easy, even though I was 4th chair...

  • 私のとこでも

  • I was the only good one in the section, all you can hear is me, if the rest of the section were not such wimps, they would have sounded better

  • I agree. The other euphonium that played our part was a wimp, too. :\

  • Still. Impressive.

  • baritone=ftw. I remember that solo...

We played this song in my freshman concert band...now, two years later I'll still find myself whistling it.

  • lol i was in the other brown band... i didnt like our pieces as much.

  • wow these acoustics are no good at this place...

  • im in middle school and we just started playing this song. its great i realy like it. maybe its just bcause im the b-tone and get the solo but still this song is awsome. i bet i can play the solo better than this guy and i bet they had it longer than me. but i would rate then a 4/5. it was pretty good.=P especially the sixteenth notes!

  • actually i played it perfectly, its just the camera has bad sound quality, and we only had it for 2 days, its called all-state, they pick the best out of the whole state, then they best play together

  • Sometimes,it seemed as if the band wouldn't even follow the band directors tempo. To make a long comment short, "Yall NEED to WATCH"!

SWGHS did sooooooooooooooo much better. They had great balance and awesome sound quality.

PLUS I WAS IN THE SWGHS BAND ANYWAY, WE GOT A SUPERIOR ON THIS SONG!

    Southwest all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    S-DUB!!!!

  • Good for a middle school band :)

  • a veritable mess, sorry guys

  • what did you guys make, and what district are you guys in?

  • holy crap i was in this band! Bruce Yurko is amazing

    e-mail me if u are~~!!!!

  • I'm 8th chair flute!!! [the third from last in khaki pants] I loved this song!!! It was SOOOO much fun and Vruce Yurko was an amazing director/composer!

  • wow they did rrrrry good lol, this song was amazing and fun

except the band directors didn't wanna switch up the clarinets liek they always do and made most of us play 3rd

yea i know 3rd's are the supporters lol but it would'v been fun too play at least second lol =P

  • i would've cried if they gave me third part...

  • APPROVED BY THE ANGEL OF MUSIC

  • Wow. The audio quality isnt as bad as i thought it would be

  • ...yeah.. my band is playing that too. were a high school band. i play 3rd chair trumpet

  • you guys are middle school? wow, not bad.

  • My dad wrote this.

Just for the heck of it I was searching for his stuff that he wrote for FSU and ran across this. Did you any of you also play Queen City Suite.

    Larry Carter

  • im the 6th chair tuba player. it was sweeet :)

  • i played this...but i was playing a soprano clarinet where i had a solo with a cornet. it was fun....easy though

  • Ah, this song is hard. @_@ Even second flute...ah....

  • ooh I love this song because it had such great parts. I'm the 16th chair clarinet in this concert.

  • I hated this song at one point. The part at 2:23 was a freaking nightmare for me in 8th grade.(I just switch to bass clarinet about 4 months ago,and we had a technical part right there,it drove me nuts) Of course if I got it now, I might be able to play it...

  • im the first chair clarinet here :]

  • I played this in 8th grade. I'm still first chair oboe now in high school. I thought it was quite easy. We took it to contest and got a one. But do remember, our band is considered one of the best in the nation. To all the bands that went to the Atlanta Chick fil-a bowl thingy, we were there.

  • I was the Euphonium soloist in this song. Mr. Yurko was the best band directer ever.

  • you did a really good job. i hav the solo in our peice that i got now

  • wow. I love this song!!! I'm having quite a hard time trying to play this piece, though cause i just got it like a week ago. ha.

  • We got it in our band about a week ago too. When I saw the 1st clarinet piece, I was like, 'Crap.'

  • ha. i knoww. that was my first reaction. :]

  • Overture for Winds is one of my fave concert band pieces, and this one is a very decent performance and recording. Excellent work.

  • i was the 3rd chair tuba player, and i was wondering if you had the night dances that we also played

  • I have uploaded all videos that I recorded at the event. So if its not here, then I didn't record it. Sorry!

  • i no its possible but its a youtube link i need a google link
