Have seen and shot this before myself from various positions.........not a high percentage at long range, but definitely makeable and a crowd pleaser.
Very nice shot; and a very nice run. Such a shot is perfectly doable and realistic. Even so, probably most people wouldn't take it in a competition--or in a meaningful money-game.
this shot isn't that difficult. the balls just have to be set up properly. i think you all now that situation, where u hit the rack with the cueball and the cueball go off the table into the corner pocket. that's exactly the same, but this time u need to to that with the objectball ;)
Look at the second to last row of balls - and I aim to carom the object ball off the stack on the edge of the end ball in that row. High english - and with the correct angle, it will go in like a charm every time. I have quite a few more videos of shots like this that will be in a 14.1 DVD.
Now, that particular shot i made, isnt set up like the "trick shot version" as seen in "the Hustler" but it was very similar. The big Difference on mine was that all the balls were still frozen in position in a brand new rack. But it worked!! Since then ive done it once or twice. Thank you for posting your break shot!! I appreciate the message you sent me as well!!!! Ive watched your video's (some on youtube) and your very knowledgable. Im able to run racks now in 14.1 but just not back to back
I done that shot before, but your runs are higher than mine,Id like for you to coach me.,really, not sarcastic,if i could just get over my problem of blowing position,I could get better,I guess.
Hey, i just sent you a video response (not exactly to your video) so you can see me attempting to slow down and take my time with running a rack. I manage to get into a bit of trouble but pull out some great top shelf shots to get out of trouble.. i almost have the rack finished and as soon as i go to shoot the 3 ball (an easy shot) the freakin juke box BOOMS out of nowhere and startles me and i miss!!! Talk about aggrivating!! lol
Nice Break Shot!!! Im gonna work on that one as well... I have managed to be very creative during game play but i have more trouble re-creating a break shot when im just "trying to demonstrate" lol.. once i left the cue ball in the corner pocket behind the rack, and my object ball was on the other side close to the side pocket.. i studied the pack and the way the balls would spin and then i shot the cue ball into the corner ball and forced it to carom back into the pocket where the cue ball was
that is a GREAT shot to make. must have been sweet to continue a run like that! i'm a C player with a high run of 21, (due to lack of table time and poor shot selection and less than stelar cue ball control!) and I made this shot twice in competition. I can't remember where I learned it, but I have made it a decent percentage of the time. It's all that "coming up short on the break ball" that I do!
I believe Joe Tucker has that shot on video - and I also have some footage of Bob Jewett trying the shot at the 2008 DCC. Check out JoeT's videos - I'm sure I saw it. FWIW, I can't make it either.
ur a hell of a shot, nice ass stroke

How would you aim that? Just like a bank shot? I'm not sure cause the impact surface is round as opposed to a flat rail.

@Descente36 learn what a carom shot is. once you, shots like these become second nature if you practice it enough.

Nice shot! It really depends on the situation and who you're playing whether or not you take a shot at this. This one hurts BAD if you miss it!

Nice. I forget which, but this shot is mentioned in either "The Straight Pool Bible" or "Play Your Best Straight Pool"

Hi. Nice ricochet!
Is that a 9' or 10' table?

Thanks! That is a 9 foot Brunswick Gold Crown table - this video was shot at Corner Pocket Billiards in Orlando, Florida.

the shot isnt a big deal--i and many other players have made it numerous occasions when we had poor shape--nice breakout of the rack, though......
