great video my question is if i link two 16.4.2 together will i have 12 aux instead of 6 and still keep the recording ability? and will i have 8 subs instead of 4? thanks

Unfortunately, no, you don't get 12 auxes, the 6 gang together between boards. Yes recording still works fine with two linked. Sub groups can be separated or combined as well. In link mode all subgroups feed to the master board, in un link mode each board has its own subgroups...but I believe can still be routed to masters...that one I have not attempted yet. We always used in the sub group link mode.

when ever I connect the firwire to my mac, and open the studio one program, it says no audio device connected, and ive downloaded the universal control, any suggestions?

make sure the software version on the boards is the same and the universal control. you can't use older firmware with newer UC software. you may need to do an update. also make sure you are set for ID 1 . also power up your mac first, then try connecting the SL board and see if that is a work around too, but first check firmware issues vs. UC revisions.

@gvozdinas You can connect two 24.4.2 and have no recording or you can connect two 16.4.2 and have recording, or connect 3-4 with no recording. You cannot connect a t 24.4.2 and a 16.4.2, different hardware and software running boards.

@trinityprosound cool thanks for the info. Looking at this board I'd rather have 10-12 sub groups than 10-12 Aux sends, but sure looks like a good unit.. even for an analogue guy like me.

Can you link a 24.4.2 with a 16.4.2? If you can...are you able to record the first 32 channels or will it not record at all via firewire?

@starclassic71 No, not possible , different hardware and firm ware for the boards, can only link like boards.

If you link two or more consoles does it truly increase your number of aux sends/monitor mixes so that all channels can be routed to any aux send or can they only be sent to the respective console that they are on?

linking the consoles the auxes of both boards are sent to aux 1-6, you could really get 8 if you don't want to use the EFX's, both boards send channels to auxes 1-6

i already got the both mixers and everything is good but in the capture it comes 16 tracks but not 32 what do i do ?

you may need to upgrade the boards firmware to talk to the version of capture you are using. Also make sure you have the ID's set to 1 and 2 on the boards. We never had an issue with the boards not seeing the capture software. Scroll down the inputs and you should see all the channels.

when you have the 2 StudioLives daisy-chained, if you eq any of the 1-16 tracks do you use the master or slave to eq/effects?

the effects eq is on the FX A of B mix to tailor the eq of that aux group, all other eq is by channel or using the 31 band eqs for the mains.

Each channel has its own EQ as well as the auxes, subgroups, and the mains have 31 band eq.

Can you record all 32 channels into PT9? I thought you could only dp 16 at the time. Not that I have a 32 input session happening all the time, but sometimes I do need more than 16 inputs at the time

yes, with the Capture Software you can record all 32 channels of the boards. I am not sure about other recording interfaces or software that would be connected by FireWire to the board, but the Capture works great ! Especially on a Mac Book Pro
