  • Hey man, do cammed wrx's still have that boxer rumble when you push it? Because i know that headers will take the rumble away....

  • @sergsrt8 Ya it still has that sound and then some. The headers do kind of ruin the sound but overall its still an amazing sounding motor with cams. My video doesnt do the sound justice.

  • @UWISHPROD it sure doesn't. i'm listening to your engine on my cpu that's hooked up to a hi fi audio system...sounds lean and mean brother good job. wish i can do the same to my 08 wrx

  • @BOLOE562 Thanks man. And you can do the same too all you have to do is pull the motor lol

  • @UWISHPROD it sure doesn't. i'm listening to your engine on my cpu that's hooked up to a hi fi audio system...sounds lean and mean brother good job. wish i can do the same to my 08 wrx

  • @sergsrt8 Correction. EQUAL length headers take away the rumble. You can get unequal length headers that will ruble just the same as stock.

  • Dude.... I <3 YOUR CAR!!

I thought standard wrx's sounded good!!!

  • sorry to hear such a culmination of mechanical skills and passion totaled...but very very clean and i love the wheels! and youre right, I'm always hard pressed to find a cammed subie or any boxer style engine for that matter. very nice!

  • @xpedalpusherx Thanks man.

  • @UWISHPROD ..what valve buckets did you have to buy and where did you buy them ? Also what is the gap needed between buckets and lobe ? I have same cams in my 05 LGT and I thought I could reuse stock valve buckets ..

  • @VF52LGT I had my machine shop do the bucket sizing which he had extra buckets. If it wasn't for him I couldn't have done the cams. reusing the stock buckets don't always work cause the new cams would be a cunt hair off and you would need a new size bucket. Very hard to explain but hope it helped.

  • Omg, this thing just sounds incredible. What motor is this? I got an 03 with an EJ20. I would love for my car to sound like this. Reminds me of my old talon... I had a wicked cam in that thing

  • @snoopyslr This was the EJ20 or 2.0 as everyone knows it.

  • i have an 06 wrx cobb stage 2. Can I just change cams and go or is there other things i have to do i.e. tuning???

  • @06rex Once you change cams your going to need a tune. I did an email tune for my Cobb from a guy and it worked well. I also used my laptop with a program to change my idle. With low idle and cams its ruff sounding.

  • power?

  • @jhaze918 never got it dyno'd. Car was totaled while still breaking in the motor and during the winter. Some douche ran a stop sign and that was the end of my car.

  • @UWISHPROD WOW!!! srry to hear that man....really is a shame...any projects you are currently working on now??

  • @jhaze918 Well I had the evo. The vids are on my page if you havent seen that. Then i got the mustang which is also on my page. The mustang is my project for now. But soon I hope to pick up an 05 STI and build the motor again and hopefully get numbers this time lol. My car projects never stop.

  • @UWISHPROD ahh man, what a shame, sorry to hear that!

  • for a wrx or sti those cams so awsome stock uel headers/ manifold?

  • @theungrateful34 not sure what your asking......but it had aftermarket headers as well.

  • that looks like a sti hood scope

  • @shizzel122 yes it is. Was the first mod I ever did to the car when I bought it in 05

  • nice car but.... tinted tail lights is.... gay and white trash

  • really nice man

  • @ThePrudence23 Thanks man.

  • nice cams, sound nice and give power

  • what was the install of the Cams like? a pain in the ass or relatively easy?

  • @STI4Life06 Wasnt bad once you got the motor out. But the problem is no one tells you that you need new valve buckets. They go on top of the valve springs which is what the cams hit. The spacing between the caps and the cams has to exact. So you need new buckets to change the gap.

  • @UWISHPROD yeah im sure pulling the motor was a bitch. I also, did not know that about the valve buckets. whats the reason you have to replace them? I was thinking about putting new cams in but, i dont think its worth it for me unless im building a new motor. To much work for a stock motor IMO

  • @STI4Life06 Only reason I did it was I blew the motor running to lean and melted a valve. So the motor had to come out. The reason you replace the buckets is you have to have the correct space between the lobes of the cam and the valve springs. The spacing is so small you cant see it with your eye. Have to use shims to get the right spacing which means removing the cam several times in order to get the right spacing.

  • sounds so good. sorry for your loss!

  • @step2191 Thanks man

  • that car is absolutely sexy sir A+

  • @xStealthxSniperx Thanks man. I miss it everyday.

  • hey a pirate....nice work man...

  • @SubaSmash was a pirate till some one on carson ran a stop sign. I miss those days as a pirate.

  • @SubaSmash Thanks man. And I always show love for the pirates.

  • anything adjustment or gappings on the valve lash?PLUG AND PLAY APPLICATION right?

  • @dbl2681 You will need new buckets for the spacing between the cam lobes and the valve to get the right spacing.

  • sufhaoujhsiud

  • Damn shame about the car, it looked and sounded great.

  • cool wait igot the same cams 272 brian cower street setup eh but did u change the wrap around pipe it would sound beefer rite now running on 24 psi vf stock turbo also rite now got about but rite now my own kinda lump also bouth there steel valves and intake and exhaust and retainer kit and the 3inch cat back exhaust on meth with 750cc injectors and hks bov

  • @paulam128 I dont have a clue what your asking in your comment. cant understand it. Sorry

  • what did your ignition timing look like?

  • @egomax90 Im not sure. The guy who tuned it would know

  • nice plates

  • Did you have trouble with misfire codes at idle? If so where you a them able to correct them and how?

  • @egomax90 Only problem I had was a regular idle my knock sensor would go off. With the rough idle the sensor though my motor was misfiring. So to fix this I turned my idle up to about 900 to 1000. smoothed the idle out a bit and every once and a while I still got a CEL from it. I did have a good tune but the tune didnt fix this prob. So me personally I left at low idle and dealt with the CEL as it came only cause the car sounded so much better then with a higher idle.

  • so how many hp's were you able to pull? no dyno tune? was it worth the cam swaps? ive got 300 to the wheels off of bolt on's and a dyno and road tune and am going internal next. where will i get the most bang for my buck once i start to go internal.?

  • i run 272 in my GF8 STi....( I live in japan so seeing a GF8 in the states would be rare to none) i've got ARC Frount Mount Intercooler....Blitz BoostController....Tein Coilovers....ERC Big Brake Kit....3" DownPipe with 3" straight pipe all the way back...Toyo DRB Rubber (245 series-almost too wide)

Question...I run 1.2 Bar safely.....but I want to upgrade the Head Gasket....how hard is that...? Thanks

    RUSH

  • To replace head gaskets you need to remove the motor from the car. its the only way possible to work on it. But also make sure you get the heads machined cause from the factory their off .005.

  • thanks for the tip...I was afraid of the motor pull....ahhh...damn boxer engines...but they are strong as hell !

If you can think of any web-sites for GC8 (99' Sti) performance parts please let me know...

    thanks

    RUSH

  • wow...

  • damn it sucks to hear about a subie goin down... especially one this clean :'(

    sounded beastly though

  • This vid pushed me over the edge to purchase them.

  • Have you installed them yet? I highly recommend them to anyone but takes lots of work to build it.

  • No, not many shops around where I'm at, but got quoted for $1.2k for machine work... How much it did it cost you for machine work?

  • My machine work include hot tank for both heads, milling the heads, correct buckets for valves and only ran me about $300 or so. what they priced you was to much

  • Ya, there was much more availability to different shops that do machine work when I was in the NW. The shops down here in TX are dismal and make a killing with hardly any competition at all from other shops.( Subaru experienced shops)

  • damn sorry to hear about the tragedy.......sounded beautiful

  • did you need injectors to run these cams?

  • No. I ran stock injectors and had no problems with a good basic tune. I never got around to upgrading the fuel system before the car got totaled.

  • Were you able to reuse the motor?

  • R.I.P.

  • thanks for the support

  • Sounds gooooooood! What wheels and size? Rota P45F?

  • I think they were 18x8.5 Rota P45F

  • damn i love those wheels

  • i also have some 272's in my car you should check my vid out

  • well at highter RPM's the car was alot smoother and if tuned right you can get alot of gains power wise

  • did you ever get it dyno tuned?

  • No never got a chance before it was totaled

  • thats too bad

i have a stage 2 04 but never looked into cams or internal stuff

what exactly do cams do and how did they change things?

  • so you claim to have a stage 2 2004 wrx, but you dont know what cams are?

    hmmmm. I call bullshit

  • i know what cams are i am asking how aftermarket cams are different and how they affected the performance.

  • aftermarket cams open the valves quicker, sooner ,longer or a combo thereof. allowing more air/fuel mixture into the chamber. more mixture, bigger boom. bigger boom, more power.

  • ya see?

that didnt require any hostility at all

    your learning already

  • Also is the WRX REALLY loud at speed or is it well mannered. I want the car to be well mannered - quiet

  • Well as you can see from the video the car was not quiet or well mannered. The car was a beast at high speeds or normal speeds around town. The car was very loud but that was also due to the exhaust system. It was a very intimadating car to others.

  • I have a 2002 WRX with IHI-VF39 turbo port/polished with STi injectors, Walboro fuel pump, etc. I am looking to add the Crower cams. Can U tell me how the car feels after the install. Does it perform well? Does it idle well? Is it what U expected?

  • Felt great afterwards. Now I did have to turn the idle up cause at stock idle and those cams it was to rough and the car actually thought it was misfirng due to the engine shaking from the cams. It was what I expected. On higher RPM's the car felt so smooth as well.

  • The new car is an 06 EVO MR. Which I already added a video of it. More to come of the new car

  • cool....what are you geting next???

  • Thanks for the comments. Just makes me miss her more. Stay posted for video of the new car coming soon.

  • thanks thats what i wanted to now....your car sounds great!!! thanks agian

  • With the 272 cams I also changed out the valves, retainers, and valve springs with BC kit. That all. Most the other mods had nothing to do with the cams. But to swap cams you must pull the motor....just easier that way. Any other questions email me. Im very knowledgable with these cars. Thanks for the comment.

  • what mods did you do so you could cam it

  • Man sounds like your ready to stomp on someone.

What type of cams, lift and duration, is it the standard 2.0? Email me if you wouldn't mined.

  • How is your low end torque affected by this?

  • Dont know havent had it dyno'd yet. Will soon

  • Your WRX sounds sick man!! I have an 05 STI I want cams so bad but I guess there so hard to install due to the boxer engine. How much did the install cost u if I may ask???

  • Actually i did all the work myself and with some friends. But its a pita cause you have to pull the motor to do the install. My engine melter a valve so had to tear it apart anyways.

  • Damn bro. Thats the way to go is doin it with your friends for free!! lol. That sucks it melted a valve, maybe it was a good thing cuz u got cams put in at the same time lol

  • Hell ya it was some good times with my friends and lots of late nights for 3 weeks. But well worth it and yes I got cams lol figured why not while I had it apart. Thanks comments

  • sounds real good

what exhaust and turbo are you running?

  • TurboXs TBE and actually the stock turbo for now.

  • PIRATES!!!

    hells yeah. haha

  • awesome car fucken sweet good vid 5*
