Oy, that's the problem with arbitrary dogmatic mentality. The Bible does not say the Earth was created 6,000 years ago, nor does it say life is unchanging. Quite the contrary. Just like it never said the Earth was the center of the universe or any other garbage like that. But that's what happens when people who don't actually read the Bible make statements about it based on hear-say.

@wado1942 Except that the guy who worked it out as 6000 years got the info directly from the bible. He most certainly had read it! He used the bible's own text to work out that date; its lists of families, its record of events. The bible may not come out and say that number specifically, but you cannot claim that the conclusion came from "not actually reading the bible". That number wasn't just pulled out of someone's ass and then attributed to the bible; it was a direct result of that text..
