  • Certainly a tragedy that they only people of colour I can see in the video are The Crystals and a musician.

  • I remember going to a crystals concert when LaLa brooks brought the house down with this song. I"m now 67 years old and everytime I hear "The Do Run Run" I feel like I"m 19 and I want to get up and dance. This was the greatest song of the sixties and this was the greatest group (my opinion). Thank God for LaLa Brooks. May she live FOREVER!

  • All time great

  • Left to right, Francis Collins, DeDe Kennibrew, LaLa Brooks.

DeDe carries the Crystals name to this day and is the only original member using the name.

  • I'm 13 years old and all my friends are into rubbish modern music like Tinie Tempah and Nicki Minaj etc. but i think 50's and 60's music is far better and always will be... I wish i could go back in time to listen to such great music :)

  • I'm 20 years old and I love this song :P

  • @Gxy91 You like it because back then Musicians were inteligent.

  • @gabormonika I agree. I work in a place where older music is played non-stop, I was quite shocked at myself for getting to like it. Very good music, all the same. <3 this song!

  • @Gxy91 Today they can't even say two words without using the F. word

  • aww this was my nans favourite song!

  • Wow--now adays if you go to a dance and shake your bootie, people think you are high on something or a WING-NUT.

People don't know how to enjoy life anymore----soooooooooooo sad!!

  • the lady in the middle is a cutie.......really!

  • They dont make girl groups like this anymore. Spice who?

  • Darlene Love sang lead. Not in the video. Probably a Phil thing...:)

  • @joraider08 My understanding is that Darlene Love was supposed to be the lead singer but wanted a piece of the action from Phil Spector. Phil would not hear of it and then flew in LaLa Brooks from the east coast to LA to sing the lead. So I believe Darlene never was the lead on this song.

  • Da Doo Ron Paul 2012!!

  • When I saw Springsteen in December of 1980 at Madison Square Garden they brought him out to this, with the announcement, "From New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Song".

  • Crystals - gorgeous. Song - wonderful. Wall of Sound - brilliant.

  • @HickysBoy yes sure its great

  • Awwwww,I like,my band covered the Supremes, next time we have to groove chief one:))

  • Phenomenal !!!

  • Now isn't this where the Supremes got their act? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • This isn't even the crystals singing on the record

  • great stuff ! thanks for uploading

  • takes me back LOVE IT!

  • This should have been the first 45 to have printed on the record sleeve, "Play Loud."

  • greatest group ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ahh, Dee Dee!

  • Oh man! How I miss the era! Big hair, pale lips and twitchy hips. Sigh. It was heaven. Great download! GREAT memories! Many thanks, Sixties Pop Gold!

  • Singing their hearts out...and their stage act is TIGHT!

  • wavves

  • damn muscles!

  • Brings back memories that will never fade.

  • Memories.

  • God Bless Phil Spector

  • Oh my -1960 the year I hit 13-

    These girls were so hot.

Love it all- well, the music scene anyway- lots going on that wasn't very good for many. But as a kid oblivious to most of it, we just lucked in to the music- school, lots of jobs, few drugs, still years away from Nam, and with the great civil rights movement to come. And my porn from an airbrushed stolen Playboy.

    -Bill

  • I remember this girls when i was 5 years old. I have allways liked there songs. Bye från Ebbis in Sweden:

  • aint nuthin like the real thing.. great video..thanks so much!

  • I had the good fortune to play drums for The Crystals on a short Canadian tour. Still ranks as one of my proudest moments, being on the same stage as them. What a group!

  • Same gig as when bobby fuller 4 were on...One of the best

  • This talented group is awesome.

They acted very classy and lady-like.

They bring back many fond memories and we will never have this kind of talent again.

I'm so glad I was born in this era--lots of love songs, peace, kindness and alot of happiness!!

    Great job girls--you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'll have me a piece off the one in the middle

  • This was the music I listened to in middle school when everyone else was caught up in the boy band and nu-metal trend!

  • My sister told me she worked with a woman, who claimed to be Dee Dee...,or a co-worker told her that she had worked with Dee Dee at a bank...,this was in the late 80s...and my sister was working at a bank in Northglenn,CO..anybody know about this?

  • If you are a man & you watched the whole video you have to have a Crush on La La Brooks , I don't mean to lesson the groups Musical talent but being a Man I can't help recognizing her Female qualities , she is so Feminine with a Beautiful face & voice . Yes I admit I have a Crush on her , and she is still Gorgeous today . She could be a Miss America . She is also a wonderful person ! Love the Crystals

  • Is that dancer on the far right Betty Cooper?

  • @Upsiditus7 I don't know who the lady is but like me you certainly can pick out the best looking lady in the go go dancing group.

  • @Upsiditus7 The fantastic looking lady on the far right is Teri Garr the actress

  • LaLa,,you're still hot lady. What class.

  • Can anyone name these three from Left to Right? I always knew the Crystals as four girls not three.

  • @zzzhuh 73ss454 tell us some time ago. From left to right the ladies are Francis Collins, DeDe Kennibrew and LaLa Brooks. I'm just starting to know this wonderful group so I don´t know what you say about 4 girls. Please someone can help us? Thanks :-)

  • @Saturpepe If you look up "da doo ron ron" on google and go to images there are four girls on the front not three. And thanks for the info on the girls, I think DeDe is probably my favorite for some reason :)

  • @Saturpepe I believe that Barbara Alston also sang with the group. Cher actually sang back up on a few songs. Also, let's not forget Darlene Love who was the lead with the Blossoms. Phil Spector moved these singers around as he wanted. I also think that Darlene Love was to sing lead on this song but wanted a piece of the action and Phil replace her with LaLa Brooks.

  • darlene looked hot then and she still does at 70

  • Amazing picture quality! Thank you!

  • @SaorAlbaComingSoon Yeah, cause she gets her leg up so high and the others dont.

  • Beautiful.

  • These girls were gorgeous and sang so sweet!!

  • omg look black people were civilized back then, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED

  • @diamondrio21 hahahahaha..............u call it civilized..I call it Boring :P joke

  • @diamondrio21 And your greasy haired, dirty jeans and beer stained tee shirt wearing folk look civilized?

  • @luvureally didnt mean it in a bad way, just mean back then everyone was more civil including the black race, now 75% of the black community makes the race look idiotic and down right stupid

  • THXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHX ,I LUV YOU!!♪

  • Who's sleeping with Hesh???

  • La La Brooks had the curves, had the voice. Brought back good memories.

  • Try this great Phil Spector-related track by an English female producer

In YouTube, search for 'TIMEKODE (DENI)' and listen to 'WOW! I WANT IT'

  • these girls would fill a concert hall every day of he week back then . white guys loved them but would not admit it . james

  • That's NOT Darlene Love in the video, but that's who's singing the lede part....

  • @aviben50 Actually, Da Doo Run Run was originally recorded by the real Crystals (during the time there were 4 of them) with Lala Brooks on lead (as she is on the clip). Darlene and The Blossoms only recorded a handful of songs under the name The Crystals. Some became huge hits, like He's a Rebel.

  • I was in my jr year in high school. Love hering and now seeing the girl groups. Everyone is rediscovering music.

  • I'm lovin' the dancers on the podium too !

  • Don't want to sound like a racist but this is from blacks could still sing! forget all this rap and cee lo green rubbish, wow you know the f word! no need for it

  • That wall of sound is fucking powerful.

  • Man that girl in the middle was cute!

  • @pre9120 Could she be Dee Dee Kennibrew? Somebody knows? Thanks

  • @Saturpepe Dee Dee does it at... Crystals - Da Doo Ron Ron by doowop50s. It should be listed under suggestions!

  • @Saturpepe DeDe Kennibrew is in the center, Francis Collins on the left and LaLa Brooks on the right.

  • @73ss454 Thanks, I'm just starting to know this wonderful group.

  • "Da Doo Ron Ron" was always intended for a re-write, but the lyricist

never came up with one by release date.

  • My first all-night party, I was 18 that day, met a jockey - yea he looked so fine, yea he caught my eye. Sat on his knee in the dark, this record came on, people coming into the room through the window. Why should I rember this so vividly? What was the connection? - yea his name was BILL!!!

  • @rickysbestgirl

  • Yes it's the Shivaree show.

  • which singer is DeeDee ?

  • @zworks13 In the middle.

  • The background " Go Go " dancers, make it !

  • Back when Black, WAS beautiful ! Rap is CRAP !!!!

  • @mrstevehartman Still is beautiful, Brother..

Rap just doesn't seem like the fun these tunes were.

    -Bill in Canada

  • @baghend Your right, brother ! This is fun and energetic " MUSIC ". Rap is nothing but a downer, with sarcastic and duragatory lyrics. And, the Go Go dancers are the iceing on the cake. Thanks for the comment, Bill....

  • @mrstevehartman You know Steve, I worry about the kids today. Mine are long past teenage years, but I really don't think the kids today are having the fun we had, in the 60's. Our music was so much fun, line dances in the school gym, sock hops, going to the A&W drive in in your Dad's borrowed '61 Dodge (not cool) , and spending maybe 2 bucks. and a buck for gas.

Life seemed pretty simple then, by comparison for kids today. Still good kids, but things seem grim for them.

    -Bill in Canada

  • @baghend Your right, Bill. I have one 14 year old daughter who lives with my X wife. The " Nuclear Family " is a thing of the past. Its the drive thru mentality today with our fast paced lives. Its the amount of filth out there that bothers me. Porno, rap, drugs and so on thats so easy to obtain. If the youth of today dont keep their wits about themselves, their easy targets. What did the Moody Blues say... " Im frightened for our children, and the lives that were living is to blame " !

  • @mrstevehartman Tougher being a parent today as well, I think- things seem to change at light speed.

But we (or at least I) weren't perfect either. Speaking of the Moody, I can remember listening with friends, smoking joints and watching the ceiling fan go around, while scarfing cheesy's and thinking we were so profound. And all agreeing that our parents were pretty square, and didn't understand.

Keep contact with your daughter- its important for both of you.

    Good luck with it all.

    -Billl

  • @baghend Thanks Bill. WELL, theres always the " Generation gap " so to speak. My daughter doesent want to much to do with me right now. I understand thats fairly typical, her being age14. HEY... you stay warm up there in Canada ! Oregons cold and damp enough for me, tho...

  • @mrstevehartman Yep. There were times when, my kids (six, 3 adopted) as teenagers, wouldn't talk to me if my hair was on fire- and now some of them have kids of there own and realize, finally, what a pain in the but they could be at times. Still love them all.

Hard to keep contact when they are at that stage. still, call, write emails, letters, birthday cards, even if they throw them away. In 20 years you'll be glad you did.

My 2 daughters in Massachusetts now. Cold there too!

    -Bill

  • @baghend YES, ill keep trying, Bill. My Daughter is important to me and her Grandmother. Only wish she would pay more attention to that ! Thanx....

  • @mrstevehartman Its a tough time for them Remember being 14? They all realize what's important eventually. They need to know you love them, unconditionally. Even if you think they're not listening. They hear it. And eventually realize it.

  • @mrstevehartman Damn right!

  • @jaruca2007 Man, its like watching The Beatles at Shea Stadium. Great !

  • @mrstevehartman So because you don't like rap, Black is now ugly? Fuck you! Black is still beautiful.

  • @charm1950 I guess I should of inserted the word " music " after " Black ". I was not referring to the Black race in general, only to the style of music.

  • @charm1950 Then I just $hit a masterpiece.

  • his name was bill:)

  • who is playing saxaphone on this song...nice!

  • I just heard this song for the first time! Now it's stuck in my head and I can't stop watching the video!!! :P

  • @HillChris1234

i think david cassidy's brother made a hit of it sometime in the 80s or 90s.

  • Always loved this song...and the video is absolutely hot, to a 64 year old man!

The Crystals look both cute and sexy, and have nice moves. Love the girls in the background just as much. This vid has had multiple viewings and will get many more...

  • we DJ a party here in south Florida and Francis Collins was at the party, we play some crystal videos she loved it and we spoke to her about her being in the group what a nice lady

  • The jewell!

  • And to think these gorgeous and extremely talented girls probably had to use a different bathroom back stage because of their lovely brown skin...it's crazy!!

  • some fine looking girls and they can sing. spector might be a lot of things but he knew music...even lennon and harrison came asking for help....

  • 419th to like...83,834th to watch!!

  • Looks like A TV Show called Shindig

  • @CJTELE No, Shindig didn't look like this at all. It's called Shivaree.

  • @SixtiesPopGold Yeah, STUPID!!! lol jk

  • This record was a huge hit at the time. It came out during the summer of 1963 and was a big coast to coast hit right away..All the big AM pop stations played it in heavy rotation for weeks. Then the first week of Sept Phil Spector released "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. A big one two punch from the king of the girl groups!

  • Are those backup dancers shuffling? Everyday I'm shuffling

  • LOVE the GO-GO dancers in the background !

  • everything about these ladies is beautiful...if i could find a woman like this...i'd be married...

  • @temu2max100 Thats DeDe. All three are entrancing.

  • I've been listening to this song for over 40 years. It gets better every time. All of these old songs had such class and style. Not to mention real talent.

  • Listen to the bands on all the old songs. These people had to make those instruments make the sound, in other words they played.

  • Sixties! Hats off to ya! This was great when I heard back in the day! And it still now brings me to..well points left unsaid in the midst of babes!

  • great sound from all the girl groups of the 60s

  • I once had to sing this at a charity karaoke night when the audience were selected one at a time and a song allotted to them. Was scared stiff, but didn't need to look at the words once! Great great classic!

  • This is the Wall of Sound!

  • And that is nohthing is permitted!!

  • Had this reaction from youtube for a few mins.

  • ...I LOVE THIS .

The word's ,the music ,the beat ,the energy of the dancer's .
