I know a horse who will rush really badly sometimes, especially in the field so I when I rode him out there made him walk between jumps and then cantered the last few strides just like you're doing with Gable. I think it's a really helpful exercise. :)
hello what would be your best advise for tyring to jump a horse that can jump over 4 ft that is very fast and strong people explain her as a diva because she allways trys to through you off we love her as a pony!!!
you are a very good rider!! I'm guessing walking to the jumps and then cantering stops your horse from rushing?? smart. where I ride, if a horse does that, they just tell us to trot, and circle.
thanks for asking! I would love to explainn it to you! So gable was a rusher when I got him (now I have figured out how to not make him rush- if you follow the breakthrough technique series it is how I figured out how!). So we did this walking to the jumps because it allowed me to slow down and think about where my seat was and how it affected him, and it allowed him to slow down and think about his job, not about just blindly rushing as a habit- it really helped! :) any more questions? :)
heyy omg thank you so much! haha I bet you could (I am assuming you do onlly dressage?) cause you MUST have a good seat to stay secure over the fences!!
@hobbzrulz159 no i do jumping as well i do all sorts and im no way near as good as you! im a begginer compared to you! yeah i dont have a horse so i only ride once a week at my stables! :( suks
@alison22995 haha deal! oh and ps, I am sorry the technique is not explained much beyond knees, it is just a hint into it :) so I am currently making the videos how to explain how the technique fully works, so once those come out I think you may be able to use it to your advantage more :) xxxxx
omg thank you so much! that is very nice of you to say!! you rock by the way :D hahah ps did you check out ma breakthorugh technique video? I would reeally recoommend you to, it could REALLY help you out with your riding, I literally found it out 3 weeks ago and it has helped SO SOSOSOS much with mine :) check it ouuuttt if you would like! :D :D
Ah yes, the anti-rushing exercises! We were working on those (mostly trotting up to a jump, walking, then trotting the last few steps) right before we took some time off from jumping to work on dressage.
Beautiful horse! Once you can get him to relax and wait, I bet he'll do marvelous!
I'm not being rude or anything but why do you walk to the jump and let your horse rush??? Just wondering :)
peacebeauty101 1 month ago
why do you hesitate at the jump, it looks like your horse tries to rush it. Is that why?
RachyRooMe 10 months ago
@RachyRooMe yep he tried to rush them so I slowed him way down before- it worked well :)
hobbzrulz159 10 months ago
cool video! just put your hands higher up the horses neck when you jump.
foxcreekstablesgirl 10 months ago
U have a great seat and leg position, watch your hands though u seem to hold them a little low that's some great riding though

Hey! Thank you! yaa he just lovess to rush the fences haha. What happened to your old thoroughbred? Do you event your new horseey?
hobbzrulz159 2 years ago
@hobbzrulz159 Welcome! He just wasn't staying sound, we think part of it might be because of old injuries from racing.
Yupp! Well, not yet, she's only 4 and we're just now starting to canter, barely. But I have taken her to one CT back in October!
