After the first couple of episodes, Tracy Ryan found her footing as the character and was pretty good the rest of the way through. The problems with the show were not of her doing, and I enjoyed the concept of a little bit older college student Nancy. But the running time of the episodes was just over twenty two minutes which meant the mysteries were rather simple and way too easily concluded. Everything seemed rush. And the low low budget didn't help either.

However, they did nail George and Bess, that's exactly how I imagined them when I read the books. And at least they got her blue mustang right.

Tracy Ryan is gorgeous with her full red lips and big blue eyes and sweet voice. Definitrely the best film/TV version of Nancy ever. Absolute faithfulness to an original appearance is not all that important. The plots were good, the other actors were good, and Tracy is .... simply beautiful!

Of course they're dating but these actors' portrayals of them are awful and look nothing like them. Ned has dark hair is more assertive and sexier, he plays football and Nancy is blonde and much prettier. When Nancy Drew is modernized the characters end up looking and acting like any generic modern teens, which is stupid and boring.

Well it's just my opinion, which is that this series does not seem done in the original spirit of Nancy Drew. And when I said "jet" I didn't mean that Carson had one I mean that he would let Nancy fly to Africa to see Ned if she wanted to. In the books Nancy, Ned and the gang are always rushing all the around the globe to solve mysteries... so I don't see what the big deal is about Ned going to Africa.

No one's upset with YOU. Just the fact that she isn't strawberry blond. At one point, she did have brown hair but it wasn't for long. It changed (I'm betting that she dyed it.)

Oh what is Nancy Drew supposed to look like? If you are referring to Emma Roberts---she is not the real Nancy Drew, but simply an actress in a movie several years ago. She had blonde hair. Nancy Drew, pictured above in my youtube video, has brown hair.

I know that Emma Roberts is not the real Nancy Drew. Technically speeking there is no 'real' Nancy Drew cause she is a fictional character but in most of the original books it says that she has strawberry-blonde hair.

I think what that person meant is that the character of Nancy Drew is not real. Not to actor. Carolyn Keene did exist, but after her untimely death a new group took over an wrote Nancy Drew under her name.
In the books, she has strawberry blond hair. In this ..THING....she has brown hair.

Even if Carolyn Keene isn't real, Nancy Drew is a made up character. I never said anything about her not being real because she's a strawberry blond. She's a MADE up character. That person is an actress playing Nancy Drew and that's an actor playing Ned. There was no real Nancy Drew. Just as Carolyn Keene was a made up person- as you say-, Nancy Drew was as well.

The name Carolyn Keene itself doesnt belong to anyone. The author Mildred Wirt Benson is the actual author of Nancy Drew but she went by the name of Carolyn Keene to create the books. Ya she is dead and ya other people have attempted to make other books like hers ( I dont think many of them worked out )

Yah you try writing a book with the name Carolyn Keene and faster than you can say "Simon and Schuster" someone will be telling you "No can do!" Of course they're dating but these actors' portrayals of them are awful and look nothing like them. Ned has dark hair is more assertive and sexier, he plays football and Nancy is blonde and much prettier. And Nancy wouldn't break up with Ned over his going to Africa for 6 months, she'd probly just get Carson to let her jet down every 2 months to see him. When Nancy Drew is modernized the characters end up looking and acting like any generic modern teens, which is stupid and boring.

First of all, I didn't put in the whole thing. There's a football game scene just before this one and Ned scored. Second, Nancy is independent and just may have dyed her hair. Third, Ned has dark hair in this. Fourth, just when did Carson get a jet? Fifth&finally, Nancy "modernized"? She's been the same age since 1930 (well, she was 16 in the first book, and 18 ever since). She's not modernized---she's stuck in time. So I totally reject your comments. But thank you and I appreciate your opinion.

Well it's just my opinion, which is that this series does not seem done in the original spirit of Nancy Drew. And when I said "jet" I didn't mean that Carson had one I mean that he would let Nancy fly to Africa to see Ned if she wanted to. In the books Nancy, Ned and the gang are always rushing all the around the globe to solve mysteries... so I don't see what the big deal is about Ned going to Africa.
