  • can u make the wick longer???????? if so how

  • @XxDRITY well theres a lot more of the wick inside the lighter, so yes you can just pull on the wick with some tweezers and expose more of it

  • What's wrong with your voice... Or age?

  • you forgot to mention how the fuel is replenished. if the bolt holding the flint in didn't heat the lighter's body (therefore heating the wet cotton-ball), less evaporation would occur and you would almost have to "shake" the lighter to get fluid back to the wick. ever notice how your zippo's flint wheel gets hotter than any other part of the lighter? and the reason why the bolt holding the flint is brass? to conduct more heat to the lighter fuel chamber for evaporation.

  • @clvinning this patented design is the reason why many zippo knock-off brands completely suck, because Zippo's design is the most efficient in fuel-evaporation, keeping your lighter flame-ready with every single strike of the flint.

  • @clvinning the copper braiding of the wick also helps to heat up the liquid fuel for more efficient ignition and fuel vapor to keep the flame constantly and consistently lit, even if it has been lit for a few seconds or several minutes the flame should be rather consistent.

  • dumb ass

  • TROLL FACE!!!!!

  • Really dumbass

  • The wick will burn over time dipshit yes we know all that stuff I thought you were going to talk about the more complacated stuff

  • what the frak;

  • No sht

  • Ur such a retard

  • what is this bullshit....my zippo will not lite.....this sucks

  • Co za asy...

  • zippo is a brand name dickhead, not a type of lighter. windproof lighters differ from butane lighters kid, not zippos

  • buto pak hang

  • lil shit...

  • Can you do one about butane lighters?

  • Thank you so much

  • u sound like that nerf guy whats his name? oh ye cacox97 ye u do sound like him

  • how does the wick stay doused?

  • what was the point in yer video

  • What a shit video on how a zippo LIGHTS not works, you dont talk about the fuel and how it is stored and how the fuel soaks into the wick and then travels up the wick itself or how the flame is from igniting fumes...

  • Question, if you leave a zippo open but unlight does it slowly lose lighter fluid.

  • @snwkingfrlife yes ..well i heard the lid is airtight ..... and sumtimes wen u open the lid there is evaporated lighter fluid in it and it catches on fire (in the lid)

  • this kid is badass his balls were bitten off when fighting a pit bull

  • i bought this 10$ zippo just 20 minutes ago and i cant get a flame only sparks.. do i have to get lighter fluid? i assumed it would be full when u buy it. i pulled the twig up and cut the top so its even with the metal surrouding it but only sparks i get

  • @redwingss77 are you fucking serious...no zippos ever come with fuel....!!!!

  • @briansairsoftreviews lol i know that now..

  • I bought a new zippo it sparks but doesnt flame how da fuck do i make it work? -_-

  • @skkid1 they ship empty. did u fill it with fluid?

  • @seekamgraffitirocks oo wow. now i did

  • @skkid1 does it work now?

  • @seekamgraffitirocks yea ¬.¬

  • @skkid1 good. think theese things through...

  • Comment removed

  • @cankarales ummm its really hard to say, but the wick could be the problem, make sure its pointed straight up

  • @pyrot3chs i replaced the wich with new one and it's pointing dead straight but still the same :O i don't get it really!

  • @pyrot3chs u know my friend gave me that zippo and later he told me he poured gasoline for chainsaw in it xD no wonder it didn't work...

but i have my brand new gold Zippo J 08 now that runs like a clock :D

  • @pyrot3chs unless the clocks battery has ran out :)

  • @cankarales it could be that the wick is so old that its not absorbing fluid...try changing the wick if it still don't work just send it in to zippo all there lighters have lifetime unlimited warrantys

  • @cankarales late response, yea change the wick cause this guy has no idea whats hes talking about. its the copper that burning inslead of the cloth-y stuff

  • @cankarales use ur warranty, or find about if u dont know what it is. The zippo warranty goes on forever, what you do is you send it to their factory and they fix it for free, and if they cant fix it, which they try their best to, they'll replace it. simple as that.

  • @3M1N3MKIDD586 yea thanks for advice man but really ignore my comment that zippo was already fixed by myself and also lost by myself so just don't bother ansvering that comment xD

    i have a new geniue Zippo now. gold brushed J 08 :D

    have a nice day!

  • @cankarales this is just a suggestion....but if you fill the zippo and then put some fluid straight onto the wick that should work....or else you need a new wick...but the first idea shud work

  • @briansairsoftreviews i have a new zippo

  • @cankarales soak the wick, and the wick DOES BURN but very very slowly!

  • @cankarales try to change the flint.

  • ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, the wick DOES burn. that black SHIT on it is carbon from the flame. and your wick dries up while using it.

  • i use charcoal lighter fluid for mine and it works fine

  • is it normal for my zippo to somtimes turn off if the wind is too strong

  • theres an actual science behind having the flame make a vacuum, drawing more fuel up. all you said was, spin wheely, make flamey.

  • lol, thats funny, it is pretty straight forward on how a zippo works

  • billion123, your right, the idea of a zippo is pretty straight forward. something with lighter fluid in it can make a flame. but more than that happens, like how the bottom of the zippo insert is as dry as normal cotton balls after its run out of fuel. and since im pretty sure the fuel cant "fall up", something else obviously has to happen to make the fuel go from the bottom of the insert to the top. if you think that its all that simple, then your no smarter than the creator of this video

  • unless youre not being sarcastic, then my bad. its hard to tell if someones being sarcastic on the internet lol

  • wow thanks for the obviousness... pathetic.

  • "how to's such as this"????? this wasnt a how to

  • fuck u 200000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times

  • @lookforu3400 whats your fucking problem???

  • Will a zippo explode or go out of control if their is too much liter fluid in the cotton? Also, have you ever heard of a zippo accidentally lighting up in someone's pants or purse?

  • @elchamber its bullshit a zippo will not self ignite i repeat WILL NOT SELF INGITE

and no a zippo will not explode repeat WILL NOT EXPLODE

the most that will happen is a poof of flame in the lid and it will burn out but if u dont overfill it you wont have that problem

ps if you have any zippo related questions just ask i will be pleased to answer any and all serious questions about zippos i collect and have thurogly studied zippo lighters and have a collection of over 300$ worth

  • Thanks. I don't know why I said 'explode' when I meant 'ignite.'

  • @elchamber your welcome subscribe ill add more videos about zippos

  • ahh i know what you ment

  • zippo has a butane lighter now! its purdy sick!

  • : )

  • the wick burns a little bit thats why you have to change it

  • it would b bettr if i had a diagram animation

  • can you use butane in a regulaer llighter for a zippo?

  • no, regular lighter fluid must be used as butane merely turns into a gas once its not under pressure.

  • @pyrot3chs you can't use butane but you can use petrol, meth spirts, proper lighter fluid, paint stripper.... ect... ect...

  • Thanks, but when youflipthe lid, does t spin the whel, thats what my friend said

  • no, thats why u gotta spin the wheel, it strikess the flint. some butane models work like that thugh.

  • what happens when you close the zippo? Does the fuel stop coming out or what?

  • Thats a good question. When the lid closes, the air supply is cut off, and what fumes are left burn within seconds of closing the lid.

  • @pyrot3chs The Fuel will constantly evaporate as every lighter fluid does(besides Butane since its in a compressed compartment) The Closing of a zippo just makes the flame go out within half-seconds of Fully Closing. if you are quick enough to reopen your lid before the flame is gone it will relight. only few can do this.

  • Well, thank you two for watching. If you are wondering about how anyhting else works, please feel free to ask.

  • o so thats how they work. thanks a lot

i've been wondering about how my zippo works

  • yeah me2 thanks to this smart guy i figured it !

    THANK U SMART GUY
