I don't really understand the "I am only blah years old." It should not matter the age of the person, great music is great music. Most the great modern music just happened to be made prior to the millennium.
I like the Beatles, Stones, the Million Dollar Quartet, Edison Lighthouse, Dr. Dre, Pumpkins, Nirvana, Queen, Peter Frampton, Clapton. Universal music doesn't need "I am 16 and I like it!" comments
Childhood flashback....wow...that's heavy. I know music can take you back but smashing pumpkins makes me forget that I ever left a time where My world was still so young. I don't get it. Billy corgan is a lyrical and musical genius
@TheNaomiSam I listen to all styles too, but I just can't stand some of the newer crap... A few bands out there that are new, but the majority it just sounds like the same over and over
This was the song playing when I asked my girlfriend to go out with me, but when we were just friends, all my friends hated this song, but it was my favorite song, and I instantly took a liking to her when she told me she loved it too, and on the 14th of June, we'll be going out a year, this song will be on repeat all day, I love smashing pumpkins, and this song is amazing <3
This song and video are awesome, get wattery eyes everytime I see or listen to this...reminds me of a great friend I had: Rest In Peace... the moon is scary though haha...Smashing Pumpkins was one of my favorite bands, they have their own style, as many bands from 90's and before
@tkmxz when i first heard my chemical romance, gerard's voice did remind me of billy corgan's voice. but yknow, the smashing pumpkins are 1000000000000000x better even tho i love mcr
This song came out before I was born (or maybe a bit after cuz i don't really know) but I always remember hearing it when i was little. I liked it but i never knew until recently that i heard it because my dad would sometimes play it on guitar. its one of those memories that stick out from when your 3 or 4
One reason (in my opinion) this song is a masterpiece. When listening to this as a 16 year old, it sounded like an rallying cry for idealism and belief. A defiant musical stand against cynicism. Now being nearly 30, and knowing how old Corgan was when it was written, it sounds more like he's looking back on that time of youth in his own life with bittersweet nostalgia, knowing it's lost forever. "You can never ever leave, without leaving a piece of youth." So true.
@LS1LT1 Never been a big fan of the singer myself, but he is growing on me. Kind of like Deftones. Both have some of my favorite instrumentals though.
@GrrrQQVYGhOuLi3s No it's "A trip to the moon". 1903 0or 1902 I just watched the movie after seeing this and it was epic lol and the best 12 mins of my life !!!lol
@australianforlife yes, indeed. It's just a French title, it means the same thing. However, it is pretty amazing for the time. You should see some other Georges Melies films if you haven't already, that is.... Like "Le Diable Noir" (1905). The effects are awesome cosidering the generation in which it was filmed! =]
@australianforlife lol that's the english title, the movie is french, and is really titled " le voyage dans la lune" ( a trip to the moon) is is a century old
OMG. I just love this video, it's so amazing, fantastical, imaginative, and inspiring! It is definitely one of the most beautiful songs & videos by the Pumpkins. If you like this video too, you should watch Voyage dans da Lune (Voyage to the Moon) by Georges Melies from 1902. This video was solely inspired by the imagery of it, and uses some of the same tricks the silent film does. Watch it! It's worth it!
& Billy does kinda look like Gerard. I thought that too when MCR released Revenge. =]
@karmaofgood The name of the movie that inspired this video is called 'A Trip To The Moon'. It is an old silent film. Also- just a fun fact- the couple in this video are actually married in real life. And he does the voice of Spongebob Squarepants. That's Patchy The Pirate. Haha
@AmandaChaney Thank you, that's awesome might look it up later. I knew the whole spongebob thing. I could tell from his facial expressions, and that's how much a 20 year old watched spongebob lol.
I did not realize until I went to a steampunk festtival today that this was a steampunk video! I knew it was stylistic but couldnt put a name to it. I think this is one of the Pumpkins best songs and vids, LOVE IT.
melon collie and the infinite sadness was the 1st album i ever owned(actually 2 cd's), i just got home from school one day and my dad walked in my room and threw it on my bed and walked out.....didn't say a word...i was like 10 years old
...the SP has been known for their great videos, their sense of video style in potraying their song is unbelievable good. "Tonight, Tonight" is i guess their first true awesome video which earn them best vid clip award.
But my all time favorite video clip is none other than "stand inside your love" it has got so much emotion, drama and ambience, it literally had the hairs on my back standing cuz it was just so powerfull n emotionally moving and visually sureal.
I remeber seing this on tv and thought it was gerard way sinngging it XD love this song!
