  • I love you Aubre!!

  • Oh... my... GOODNESS! Your choreography is PHENOMENAL! Wonderful performance! I've liked this song since I first heard it from BA. Your dance makes it ever so much more wonderful! :D

  • Did u Ever meet JeniViva ? :( She passed away :(

  • Very very super super nice performance!!!!

  • The armwork wasn't entirely my cup of tea, but that was a really strong performance anyway and I love your core work, it's very beautiful. A really nice interpretation of this beautiful song :) Thanks for letting us watch it!

  • Dang, girl, you could be an anatomy unit at medical school! Muscles I didn't know we had! :) Outstanding.

  • dayum shes good

  • wow what a gorgeous girl and what an amazing performance :)

  • Actually, you could support these artists (Beats Antique) by getting the song directly from them. Supporting the artists that inspire you allows them to continue doing what we all love!

  • Aubre= amazing and well rounded dancer.

  • I love it, very different to your typical tribal fusion and I can really see the fosse influence. It feels like a proper fusion rather than a section of the piece in one style and then another section in the other. Serious talent you got there, lady :)

  • Dear Aubre, you're really GREAT!

  • wow, you are so talented!

  • oh my god I love her she's amazing her and sadie real talk I wish I had control like that

  • I love that move at 3:34

  • why u dont feel the dance, instead of talking what it is or dont is

  • wow im gonna be completely honest here im not a fan of fusion not because of the concept but because fusion is usually not done well, the artist is usually not well versed in all the dance styles they are fusing resulting in a mess imho

but this is one of the few fusions done so well aubre is so talented such a great dancer this is spectacular aubre is so good i have no words for this performance on a scale of 1 to 10 its an awesome!!

  • ALL modern bellydance is fusion.

  • you could interpret it that way but classical egyptian dancers took from ballet is that fusion? not to me

for me fusion is not just influence from other dance styles

but its a deliberate artistic mix of two or more styles for a given performance

  • The fusion of two (or more) dance styles is fusion. Regardless of when it happened or what the styles are. Badia Masabani who brought Tahia Carioca and Samaya Gamal into the limelight saw that their plain dancing would not please the public (who were mostly tourists), so she brought in russian dancers and western classical music to put in the mix. How is that not fusion? There is no authentic bellydance style. Its all a huge melting pot.

  • i don't agree that there is no authentic bellydance style

sure it's a huge melting pot but i still wouldn't call all modern bellydance fusion

i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree

  • Yes we could, but with what i've studied, pretty much all we know today of bellydance (in its current form) is mainly from the orientalist movement around 100 years ago. There is so little research done on it (which is such a shame) i would love to know if it was a birthing ritual once (i know people have found tribes who do use it as that, but one or two tribes does not mean it was originally that). then you have the polynesian dances which are v similar in moves and have never crossed paths

  • i think that when people study and research they meet a lot of dead ends, it's not that it's not studied, i think the stylization of bellydance is mainly from the orientalist movement on like you say, but fundamentally it's made up of folklore

birthing- one or two tribes could be all you need actually depending on where the tribes are located..

and the polynesian dancing is very interesting to the moves are virtually identical...amazing..fascinating stuff

  • Jade - yeah, TOTALLY fascinating. Its like its hard wired into all cultures (apart from maybe us brits... lol), to produce these movements. I suppose because the movements help childbirth/childbearing bodies and SOME (not all!) are almost sexual simulation (certainly some of the polynesian dances are flirty dances like that, or were originally), it makes sense that it would produce those movements as a dance form in fertility rites or stuff like that.

  • That split was WOW!

  • As jazzdancer myself I just LOVE your fosse fusion! Fosse would love it too!

  • IT doesnt matter what it is

its wounderful, its dancing, ist soul ;)

  • That's why it's called fosse fusion. =)

  • it doesn´t feel like tribal =/

  • As listed above, this song is by Beats Antique and is called "Break Me".

  • wow, what cd/music did u use it is awesome & you are an awesome dancer as well, regards Ronel

  • Beautiful dance....would you be able to let me know the artist and the song that you danced too....looooove it! thankx!

  • this is absolutely my favorite performance of yours!!! i love the golden age classical dancers b/c no one danced as beautifully, or as emotionally as those women. and i think it is important to keep the original artform alive. but i also love to see the original artform done with some innovation. your hipwork is beautiful, and your oblique control is just CRAAAZZZZYYY!!! I LOVED IT!

  • My training is extensive in a wide variety of styles and genres. Tribal specific: Carolena workshops to understand the fundamentals of ATS back in the day, Jamila Salimpour for old school, and toured with the Indigo ladies quite a bit. But didn't really get to hang with Zoe until this summer. The backbend was from me playing around and seeing what plane I could take an undulation in a different way. =))

  • she had a ballett experience before

    classical BD, i think.

SHE IS SOO COOL, i could not see because of..(written under)

by who did she learn some tribal?

by the Indigo? that would be funny:)

or before, for eg. Fat chance?

the turn is backbend is Zoe's specific move,

that's why i think that indigo had an influence.

  • O........M.......G!!!

  • Fantasic. :)

  • She shouldn't dance in the background in BDSS

  • vith veils, noone watches the background when there are dancers closer.

  • ha forget that...

this lady is about 5000 levels above the dancers in bdss

    it's a nonissue

    :)

  • i like the split move that was cool shes wormy

  • This was great!!! I have long thought of doing belly dance to hip hop, rock, or club music and this great performance has shown me I should move forward with those ideas. you have clearly shown that belly dance is a truly adaptable art form!!! SPECTACULAR!!! and inspiring.

  • Love this Aubre!!!! :)

  • perfect.

  • good lord woman.

  • aubre is made of hot. =)

  • That was awesome!

  • You are such an inspriation to me....this is what I've been looking for, a dance that's in a category all it's own. Very nicely done. I see some jazzy elements in there, it's not tribal not arabic bellydance and not ballet, modern or jazz. cool.

  • AMAZING!

  • This is INCREDIBLE.

  • Love it Aubre!

  • Bellydance perfection!!!

  • that is sheer perfection!

  • lovely
