To remove the cover, you can use a 3 jaw gear puller. This works best since it pulls evenly from all sides. You can 'borrow' one from Auto Zone for a deposit of something like $30. Still, the parts often come out attached. I just used a mallet to reseat the bearings in the cover.
how the $&@^ did you get the COVER off?!? I removed the cover plate bolts(cable-side) and pryed at the lip until it started to separate, but instead of coming off as a cover, the stator & bearing started coming out with it! :(
@Shanjaq A big flat screwdriver and luck. It was relatively new when I removed the cover too. The magnets will pull the the axle off centre when the cover plate bolts are removed
@kitleithead Ah thanks. I had no luck with all of my screwdrivers & prying implements.. v=lkGgAWHSayU really helped, he used an "OTC 1038" 3-jaw puller, which I ordered and was able to get it apart pretty safely. Great tips in that video in general :)
@kitleithead For the case of an broken sensor or sensor cable, I've created an special motor with 6 sensors, so 3 normal and 120° offset 3 reserve. If I've got a problem I only change the wires to the controller!

If you've got a broken sensor, there are "honeywell SS40"! They are not expensive. The middle sensor is turned by 180°degree...

@ChrisLuxembourg Cheers. it turned out to be a split sensor wire in the axel. Have a look at video 4

great effort....

Did you find the fault? If your battery is fully charged then you may have burnt a FET on the controller.

i get this problem from time to time. just cut and repair the wire and you should be fine :)

Yep. I've done that and it operates fine until under load, at which point it cuts out.
