Your a really smart guy, its great to learn from you, one thing that I notice in you as well as other smart people is a tendency to overcomplicate things, when we find Janice she has a gun beside her and is dead, its says in her log that she feels guilty and can't bear to see what shes done, and shodan says shes weak, so its clearly implied that she kiled herself.....why try and argue with that?
@Crebralassassin Her suicide was not consistent with created character type, at least I felt it wasn't right for writers to suggest Polito taking her own life - she didn't seem like a "quitter" . Yeah , I overcomplicate sometimes, that is however a trait of my own persona :P
Did I already mentioned that switching to voice commentary was a great idea. Its by far the best I have heard so far and more chilling than Albedosrighthands ranting party or my geek half-knowledged one. ;)
I've been watching your commentary for a long time and, personally, it's my favorite. It's very entertaining but also incredibly informative. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing part 2 of this episode X3. Also, interesting speech about the church; I kept wondering why the church was in a military starship in the first place. Even if there is symbolism behind it, do you think that the church was some sort of simulated area (it isn't really there in other words).
That was an excellent speech you made about the chapel and I fully agree. The chapel is symbolic for chaos in place of faith. Also, did you ever wonder how the large splatter of blood ended up on the wall? It is very high up on the cross if the room was positioned right side up. And if someone had been killed near the entrance of the chapel, that is too far for blood to fly from a gunshot wound. What do you think?
@SkaterK3 It is either just a "decoration" like many other suggestive splatters around Rickenbacker and Von Braun or further sign of death. You see it before you can actually get a glimpse of Bayliss body, so it sort of "prepares" you for that sight. it is indeed relatively high up, but I think that whether is it realistic or not isn't significant - System shock isn't big on realism anyway :-)
@ShephardReborn, Do you have any plans to make a pacifist aproach of the game Thief TDP? It would be great to read or heard all what you know about this amazing game and what you think about the idea of Nature X Technology.
@Itto100 Sorry, I do own that game, but I never played it that much, It's one of those games that I bought when I was younger and had time to sit hours in front of PC just to complete a mission :P, but now things are a bit different and I just can't afford to invest that much time. Few of the possible titles that I'd like to make a series about are Silent Hill 2, Half-life: Opposing force and (if I buy new PC) Stalker series.
You're killing things :( :( :( but I suppose sacrifices must be made.
You can trash the Rickenbacker all you want the the truth about that ship was, it was a rush job. The team started to lose funding around that point so that didn't have the time to put in all the effort they could have. So I don't think it's fair to speak so poorly about it because there were unfortunate circumstances involved.
8:40, in SecMod, the steam hurts you when you pass by it
@SkaterK3 Yeah I bash it a bit, but this doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work they've put in it :-) SecMod is simply outstanding mod, it's even unfair to call it a mod it's like playing system shock 2 for the first time again, so much more to do with the game word, new weapons skills, items, damn .. those particle effects gorgeous... The only thing that bothers me is that I can't find any info beside the readme file, on possible item combos, modifications and other neat features.
well, I'm a little spoiled.. in a way, but I liked your subtitled approaches better. :p you might want to consider attenuating game audio quite a bit while you're speaking. smthing like fast attack, smooth release.
@Bastiest That's how it's going to be from now on :-) This is more efficient, and I get to practise some speaking, I already did my share of written English :P
@Osmfaec Good news for you - there won't be any casualties in the second part of this episode :-). I already described why I abandoned non-lethal gameplay, it was simply a dead end because of choices I made in earlier episodes, besides BOTM cannot be finished without using weapons.
@Asiancomedian All the music used in this episode is original, composed by
my friend David Scott, We're working on remixing his compositions (some of them ware already used in Pacifist's approach, some is brand new). When We're finished I'd be happy to redirect anyone interested to David's channel :-)
@Asiancomedian That track is still 'work in progress', I convinced David to let me use the unfinished version of it in this episode, because it fitted the Shodan speech so perfectly
Commentator's analysis of the inverted chapel was brilliant!

great video series. I hope to see you finish this...even if it's with a little blood shed. ;)
Such a great game, you can't really play it the wrong way.

"There's no xerxes on Rickenbacker"
He announced in episode 35.5 that "potentional threat detected". But that is more of a designer's overlook.

An upside down cross. I believe it was Peter who asked to be crucified that way.

Thanks for another great episode.
